Dig Up the Sun Emperor's Legacy: I Build an Invincible Undead Legion -
Chapter 154: Feet of Stone
Chapter 154: Feet of Stone
"Same style."
At first glance, Carlos could tell this piece was probably part of the same set as that obsidian necklace from before.
Holding the pair of black gemstone bracelets in his hand, Carlos started checking the details:
[Bright Obsidian Bracelets]
[Quality: Purple (***)]
[Special Enhancement: Dexterity +1 (***)]
[When worn by Obsidian Clan, greatly improves quality and enhancement]
[Warning: This is one of the Obsidian Stone weapon components, with extremely high chance of attracting Obsidian Stone Clan attention.]
"Yep, another piece of obsidian gear..."
Carlos put away the obsidian bracelets—once again an attribute that didn’t do much for his fighting power.
"The vanguard general dropped an obsidian necklace.
The rear army general dropped obsidian bracelets.
What’s the center army general gonna drop?
Obsidian rings?"
Carlos figured each of the three black sand army generals probably had one obsidian equipment piece.
"This is getting interesting."
The cards in his hand were stacking up.
Carlos was already thinking about what valuable stuff he could trade for when he ran into the Obsidian City Lord down the road.
...
Yasi Green Capital, in the nearby thick forest
The heavy rain came fast and left just as quick.
After the rain, the forest felt fresh, birds singing.
On the giant tree crown, the crystal girl in the obsidian stone coffin noticed the sound of rain hitting the coffin had stopped.
"The rain’s over."
She pushed open the stone coffin lid, sat up, and looked through the tree crown to see that blazing sun.
Talking to herself:
"Only one bright sun left."
Her tone was completely flat, but somehow carried a hint of sadness.
After saying this, she went completely still.
Her gem-like eyes kept staring at the sun, like she was thinking about something...
The birds came back to the tree crown.
They curiously checked out the "pretty stone" that had shown up in their home.
"Chirp chirp!"
"Tweet tweet!"
"..."
It really did seem to be just a pretty stone.
A brave bird carefully landed on the crystal girl’s head. The crystal girl didn’t react at all.
"Chirp chirp!"
"Tweet tweet!"
"..."
Calling to its friends, several more birds flew over.
The crystal girl’s sparkling hair caught these birds’ attention. They chatted with each other, looking like they wanted to build nests here...
Suddenly, the crystal girl snapped out of her thinking:
"I have to go do something!"
Her voice was clear and flat, with no change in tone, but showed determination.
The birds that were just about to build nests got spooked.
"Chirp chirp!"
"Tweet tweet!"
"..."
Flying around in circles overhead, checking out this weird pretty stone that had suddenly made noise.
Only then did the crystal girl notice what was going on around her:
Her "house" had invaded these birds’ territory.
"Sorry for bothering you."
She seriously apologized to the birds.
Then, she stood up and stepped out of the obsidian stone coffin.
Stretching out her sparkling little foot, she stepped on the thick tree trunk.
The other foot followed, shifting her weight.
All you heard was:
"Crack!"
The trunk... snapped!
"?"
The crystal girl sensed trouble.
Her whole body came tumbling down.
"Boom!"
She hit the ground, actually making a person-shaped crater!
"..."
The crystal girl showed no expression as she climbed out of the crater.
Then, stepping on the ground, she actually sank right into a shallow pit.
"?"
The crystal girl realized something was off and looked down at her bare feet, confused.
"Where are my shoes?"
Her shoes had actually vanished!
She looked around on the ground, thinking her shoes had accidentally fallen off when she landed.
But after looking all over the place, she figured her thinking was wrong.
"Where’d the shoes go?"
The crystal girl fell into deep thought again...
...
After who knows how long, that same bird landed on her hair again.
"Chirp chirp!"
"Tweet tweet!"
"..."
The crystal girl came back to reality.
After thinking for a while, she still had no clue where the shoes went, so she decided to give up.
One small footprint at a time, she walked over to under her "little house," gently reached out her hand, and obsidian-colored psychic energy flowed.
Up on the tree crown, the obsidian stone coffin actually floated up and slowly got smaller.
Finally it landed in the crystal girl’s hand, tiny and delicate.
Then she pressed the obsidian stone coffin, less than half the size of her palm, into the slot at the waist of her radiant stone battle dress.
"Click!"
Perfect fit.
"Goodbye."
After getting her "little house" back, the crystal girl said farewell to the circling bird, then turned and walked away...
...
Desolate Desert
Black Sand Center Army Camp
"Report—General!"
A black sand soldier rushed anxiously into the center army general’s military tent again.
"What’s wrong now?"
The center army general thought—could it be someone from the vanguard coming to ask for help?
The black sand soldier said urgently:
"Up the mountain... the rear army looks like it got hit by enemy attack.
From a distance, the whole camp’s gone up in flames!"
"What!"
The center army general jumped up:
"The rear army got attacked too?"
His voice was full of joy.
Today was weird—good news just kept coming one after another.
"Still... still can’t be sure. We haven’t heard attack drums.
General, should we send people to check it out?"
The moment the black sand soldier spotted the rear army tents going up in flames, he immediately came to report.
As for whether there were enemy attacks, he could only say it was extremely likely, because those flames looked way too similar to when the vanguard was burning.
"No! Not a single person goes!"
The center army general immediately shot down the suggestion without hesitation.
Once people were sent, if they brought back news that there really were enemy attacks, should he send troops to help or not?
If he helped, he wanted that guy to die fast.
If he didn’t help, when the King woke up later and found out he knew there were enemy attacks but refused to help, he’d definitely get punished big time.
So it was best to act like he didn’t know about this whole thing.
"The weather’s hot.
Military tent fires happen all the time.
I figure this time’s about the same.
You don’t need to worry about this."
The deputy next to him listened with his eye twitching.
Fire?
Their military tents had been specially fireproofed ages ago. Unless it was crazy high-temperature flames, there was no way they could catch fire.
No matter how you looked at it, the most likely thing was that enemies who were good with flames were attacking, right?
"Yes! General!"
The black sand soldier obediently left to tell his buddies about this order.
"General, the enemy’s coming on strong.
Both the vanguard and rear army have had problems. Shouldn’t we get ready?"
The deputy, doing his job, made a sensible suggestion.
The center army general waved his hand like he didn’t care:
"Just handle it however you think best."
"Yes!"
The deputy had known it would be like this for a long time. He was used to it.
Just as he was about to turn and leave, he heard the center army general’s muffled voice:
"But remember one thing:
Keeping the King safe has to be the top priority—not a single piece of armor leaves this camp!"
The deputy immediately responded:
"Got it!"
He secretly griped to himself—you’re just hoping those two generals get killed by enemies!
