Chapter 416: Chapter 416 Girl’s night
Ray was grinning ear to ear reached over and patted Asher’s back like he was comforting a toddler. "He means he’s trying to win his sister’s love, so he needs me—his amazing brother-in-law to help him!"
Asher nodded furiously, his messy hair bouncing. "YES! Bro is smart! Brother-in-law help me. We bond. We drink!" He immediately snatched a shot from Ray’s tray and downed it in one go then made the most pitiful face anyone had ever seen. "Spicy..." he whined.
Ethan just buried his face in his hands, groaning. "I cannot with this guy."
Nova, red-faced from laughing, leaned over and slapped Ethan’s back. "Just let him stay, man! He’s harmless. And who else will entertain us with English like this?"
Ray snorted. "Yeah! He’s family now. Officially. Give him a break!"
Asher, now emboldened, threw an arm around Ethan’s shoulders. "Bro, be good brother. We bond. Wife love brother who bond," he said solemnly, like a drunk philosopher. "Family strong. Drink more!"
Ethan shoved him away but couldn’t stop his reluctant grin. "Yeah, yeah... fine! But you better not hug me again!"
Asher’s eyes lit up. "Really? Bro... you so good to me..." He looked like he might cry again, but instead, he grabbed another shot and raised it high. "To brother-in-law! To cold sis! To winning love!"
And in that strange, warm, ridiculous mess—everyone lifted their glasses, roaring with laughter and slamming their shots back.

Next day, when Ava found out about the boys-only bachelor party, she puffed her cheeks and decided immediately that the girls deserved their own fun too. "Hmph! They think they’re special? Just wait! We’ll have our party, and it’ll be ten times hotter!" she declared, already sending messages to everyone.
So the night before Lilith’s wedding, Ava dragged Lilith, Nora, Tara, sweet Hannah, Nina, and a few more close friends and besties to a luxurious resort. The place looked like a sparkling palace of glass and warm lights, with private suites and an open rooftop lounge facing the glittering city skyline.
The dress code? Ava’s rule: Sexy short black dresses only.
Lilith didn’t usually wear dresses this daring for any occasions, but tonight she let Ava win. Her black dress was stunning — a soft, figure-hugging slip covered in delicate sparkling beads that shimmered every time she moved. The neckline dipped just enough to tease, with thin straps resting on her smooth shoulders and leaving her elegant collarbones on show. The hem was short but not vulgar — it hugged her thighs just right, giving her a graceful yet devilishly enchanting aura under the lounge lights.
Her long hair fell down her back in loose waves, glossy and dark as midnight, with tiny crystal pins glinting here and there like fallen stars. A single swipe of bold red lipstick made her lips look sinful, the perfect contrast to her pale skin and those icy blue eyes that could freeze or burn with one glance.
When Lilith walked into the rooftop lounge beside Ava — who was squealing in her own tiny black sequin dress, every girl’s jaw dropped. Even Nina, who always pretended to be cool and unfazed, let out a low whistle.
"Okay, Lilith, you are literally illegal tonight," Ava gasped dramatically, grabbing her arm and twirling her once. "Boas’s gonna pass out if he sees you like this!"
Lilith just smirked, that playful glint dancing in her eyes as she tugged at the hem of her dress. "Let him try," she said simply, her voice smooth like dark wine.
They ordered fancy cocktails with tiny umbrellas, shot glasses of sweet liqueur, and shared plates of fancy fruit, chocolate, and tiny cakes. Ava made everyone take silly photos and dared Lilith to dance — which she did, just once, twirling on the open-air terrace with the city lights far below.
Hannah giggled into her champagne flute, cheeks pink as she swayed to the music. Nora called out cheesy toasts. Even Nina, who claimed she’d never get drunk, was grinning with her arm around Ava’s shoulder, gossiping about the men’s party next door.
The girls’ rooftop party turned even wilder once the drinks really started flowing. Lilith — who rarely ever drank much, let herself get pulled into Ava’s mischievous plans and actually had a few shots of strong alcohol. The taste burned her throat, but the warm buzz made her cold heart feel strangely soft, like everything was wrapped in a gentle haze.
Ava, on the other hand, was completely gone. She clung to Lilith’s arm like a koala, giggling at every little thing. "My beautiful liiiiiliiiitttthhh! Do you know—hic—Nova says I’m an angel. But I’m not! I’m a devil—hic!" She burst into uncontrollable laughter, her makeup smudging slightly as she tried to poke Lilith’s cheek.
Hannah, who had always been the sweet and shy one, turned out to be the funniest after a few glasses of fruity wine. She stood on the fancy sofa, arms spread wide, declaring to the entire lounge, "Listen here—! Liam is my man! If anyone—hic—tries to steal him, I’ll fight you with my slippers!" She looked so serious saying it that the whole group roared with laughter, even Lilith chuckled, tipsy eyes sparkling under the fairy lights. freeweb\n(o)v.e\l.com
Nora filmed everything on her phone, snickering like a little devil, while Nina kept shaking her head, muttering, "I’m surrounded by idiots," — though her flushed cheeks and tipsy grin gave her away.
Lilith could feel the warmth of the alcohol in her veins, mixing with the warmth of this strange, chaotic sisterhood. For a devil who once ruled darkness, for a woman who used to find the world so painfully dull — this was oddly perfect.
She looked down at her half-empty glass, swirling the golden liquid lazily. A tiny smile tugged at her lips as she thought of her soon-to-be husband probably worrying about her somewhere, wondering if she was behaving. Poor human doll, she thought with a mischievous spark in her eyes. If only you could see me now.
Then, Ava tripped right into Lilith’s lap with a dramatic "Wahhh!" and Lilith caught her easily, scolding her lightly as Ava started giggling again.
