Detective Agency of the Bizarre
Chapter 731 - 731 250

731: 250.

Anna and Aunt Mary’s Whereabouts 731: 250.

Anna and Aunt Mary’s Whereabouts “Help me investigate someone.”

Lu Li approached the captain for another matter.

He shared Aunt Mary’s information with the captain.

He didn’t mention Anna.

Although Anna also took the cruise and left the port, she might not have done so as a passenger.

“Of course, where would you like to rest?

We will send the results to your residence after dawn.”

“I need it now,” Lu Li replied.

Though it was less than three hours until dawn.

“Uh…

of course.”

The captain summoned the first mate to whisper, who then followed the passengers off the ship to gather information.

Lu Li declined the captain’s invitation to wait in the Captain’s Cabin, only asking the crew to get an overcoat for Selika.

The cold sea wind blew across the deck’s crowd, and after some ten minutes, the first mate returned with gathered information and a shabbily dressed newsboy.

The cruise Aunt Mary took arrived at Prince’s Port in the evening, then she bought a ticket to Vena Ice-Free Port.

“Already departed?”

“Yes, the lady you are looking for seems very anxious.

She bought the ticket and left right after disembarking, now she should be at the Tranquil Plains river section…”

Vena Ice-Free Port was located in the northeast of the Main Affinity Continent and was once the busiest port on the Main Affinity Continent—before Rodest Port was built.

Now it has regained its former glory and become an important bridge connecting the Barren Lands and Lennon Islands with the Main Affinity Continent.

“What about this child?” The captain looked down at the newsboy brought back by the first mate.

“I saw this little guy at the port.

He was calling to departing passengers asking if they knew Mr.

Luli, so I brought him along…” The first mate replied, curiously looking at Lu Li.

“I am Lu Li.” Lu Li lowered his gaze, speaking to the newsboy.

The young newsboy scrutinized Lu Li for several seconds, seemingly confirming his features, then took out a warmed letter from his heavily bundled coat: “A mysterious sister asked me to give this to you.”

Was it Anna or Aunt Mary?

“What did she say?”

Lu Li took the letter, pouring out two letters from within.

One was written by Aunt Mary, and the other by Anna.

Aunt Mary expressed her concern that Lu Li and Anna might still be pursuing her, so she left a letter of advice, hoping they would stop here.

Anna mentioned Aunt Mary’s departure to Vena Ice-Free Port and said she would find Aunt Mary there, hoping Lu Li would stay here waiting for their return.

“Are we to wait here for Miss Anna’s return?”

Selika beside him seemed to have seen the contents of the paper, asking.

“No.”

Lu Li put away the envelope, taking out a tip of one hundred Shillings for the boy.

The boy wanted this considerable tip but hesitated about accepting it: “Sir, that sister already paid me…”

“This is extra.”

The boy finally accepted the tip with delight, leaving the cruise and disappearing into the port.

“Why?” Selika asked just then.

“Anna would be worried about you.”

“I am too.”

Lu Li lightly nodded.

Anna obviously needed to hide among the crowd for a long time, and the Exorcist Realm at the Main Affinity Continent was not friendly towards anomalies.

At least, they wouldn’t try to interact when faced with seemingly communicative anomalies.

If Anna was discovered by Exorcists, some troublesome things might occur.

For them and Anna.

Selika quieted down, saying nothing more.

Lu Li continued asking the first mate, “Is there still a route to Vena Ice-Free Port now?”

“No…

the last route was at 10 o’clock.

No ship will sail until 9 in the morning.”

Lu Li obviously couldn’t wait another six hours, calmly asking, “Does Fourteen Shipping Company have this route?”

The first mate’s heart raced, realizing what would happen next, and casting an inquiring gaze at the captain.

“Yes.

And all ships in the company frequently rotate routes, every crew member on this ship has experience heading to Ice-Free Port.” The first mate’s eyes widened at the captain’s polite answer.

“If you need it, we can set sail shortly after some preparation.”

“How long?”

“No more than two hours.”

After asking about Lu Li’s landing place, the captain had the second mate, Tal, arrange a resting place for Lu Li.

Once they left the ship, the puzzled second mate approached and inquired, “Are we really going to sail again?

The crew needs rest…”

The captain nodded, unwaveringly stating, “I know they are tired.

Inform everyone that each crew member’s compensation for this voyage increases fivefold, and managers rise a rank.”

The second mate’s heart stirred uncontrollably, his throat turned dry.

Elevate a rank…

meaning he would become the first mate and the second-in-command of the ship.

The second mate rationally advised with the last of his sense, “But if that gentleman is deceiving you…”

“Then prepare a carriage; I’m going to the Count’s Mansion.” Determination rekindled within the captain’s elderly form.

Whether true or not, the Count would know.

Adler Family Manor.

A carriage emerged from the mist, stopping at the illuminated gate.

The guard entered the estate to report, followed by the butler arriving at the front door after a while.

“Mr.

Solan, it is a very urgent matter.” The captain relayed the cruise happenings to the butler.

The butler pondered briefly, responding, “Please wait a moment, I’ll consult the Count.”

More waiting followed; the butler’s figure emerged from the fog under the estate’s street lamps.

“Come in, the master wants to see you.”

The captain cautiously followed the butler through the manor, entering the foyer of the mansion.

Count Furry Adler was being seated on the sofa with a maid’s assistance.

“Count, Sir.”

The captain greeted respectfully, then recounted what he’d said to the butler once more to Count Fuli.

“Only this?”

“Only this…”

Count Furry Adler nodded, instructing the butler: “Fetch a Stone Badge from the study.”

The butler ascended to the second floor.

“Which ship are you the captain of?” Count Furry Adler asked with interest, as if seeing through his ambition.

“Reslin, Sir.” The captain bowed, not daring to meet eyes.

Count Furry Adler said no more afterward.

The captain stood under pressure for over ten minutes before the Count finally spoke again.

“Our guest has arrived; take this captain to the parlor to wait.”

The maid led the butler toward the parlor; before entering, he glanced back, seeing a tall, scruffy figure appear by the mansion doorway…

Count Furry Adler sat slightly straighter, asking the filthy merchant standing before him, “An Exorcist named Lu Li wants to acquire my shipping company; he instructed me to ask your people for money.”

A brief pause followed, and the merchant’s emotionless voice emerged from the tattered scarf.

“How many Shillings?”

“Shillings mean mere numbers to me…

I want contribution points.” Count Furry Adler seriously stated, attempting to exaggerate conditions to raise the ceiling before initiating negotiation.

Though the Count underestimated something.
