Detective Agency of the Bizarre
Chapter 727 - 727 The Adventure of Lu Li and Anna

727: The Adventure of Lu Li and Anna 727: The Adventure of Lu Li and Anna [Himfast has changed a lot; the house has been occupied by others, everything has changed its appearance.

I want to stay, but it urges me…

I must go, to the Barren Lands to accept my fate]

[Lu Li, Anna, if you see this letter, please don’t come looking for me]

It’s not supposed to be like this.

Serica Darel’s heart stirred with a tempest.

This is not how it was promised…

The adventure story prepared for Lu Li, where Lu Li finds the final letter, the time written on it lets him understand, Aunt Mary’s four letters were written before she left Ailen Peninsula by ship, not after disaster struck.

The conclusion was meant to be the false alarm, where Lu Li and Anna return to their safe house, continuing their calm lives in an increasingly dire apocalypse.

Now, the adventure story has been rewritten, no conclusion drawn, instead Aunt Mary has fallen into a strange conspiracy.

The story continues…

“Who is it…” Anna frowned, a cold aura emanating that swayed her cloak.

“Perhaps it’s the one that made Aunt Mary leave the ship.” Lu Li reread the fourth letter once more, placed it back into the envelope and tucked it into his pocket.

“She’s already…” Anna whispered.

“Not sure, we don’t know the timings of these letters.”

But perhaps roughly speculate—Watch Town and Star Town evidently have been scourged; the two prominent letters placed on the window sill would not have been overlooked by survivors.

Aunt Mary’s departure might not have been long ago.

“Has there been someone in the house all along?” Lu Li asked the elderly couple outside the door and the mother-daughter standing further away.

The mother-daughter and the elderly couple spent most of their time in the house.

When Lu Li asked if they had heard any unusual noises lately, the elderly couple recalled hearing footsteps moving upstairs late at night yesterday.

Their bedroom was right below the study.

At the time, they thought it was another resident entering the study and did not mind.

Maybe Aunt Mary sneakily returned, then left the fourth letter and departed.

After another search in the study for clues, Lu Li, not finding anything more, carried Serica Darel out of the house.

“Why would Aunt Mary go to the Barren Lands…

“Anna’s muttering under the black robe came amidst a bustling street.

“The Avitanis would pass through the Barren Lands.” Lu Li answered.

Most ships heading for the Lennon Islands would pass through there; some small vessels might even dock at the port to replenish supplies.

Perhaps Aunt Mary was entangled by something strange at the Barren Lands port and left the ship.

It’s just not known if Jojo remained or left the ship with Aunt Mary, reaching Lennon Islands, or why Aunt Mary, being trapped by something strange, could return to Ailen Peninsula.

Aunt Mary’s letters indicate she knows the peculiar thing entangling her.

Is it because a certain deal was conducted with the strange entity?

“Where do we go next?” Anna asked.

“The nearest port.”

If Aunt Mary was here last night, maybe they can still catch up.

But first, Serica Darel needs to be settled.

Aunt Mary’s house still has empty rooms; the Administrator in Champs Elysees District can directly arrange her residence there.

Lu Li asked the Administrator about the nearest seafaring port from Himfast.

Leaving Serica Darel, heading to Himfast’s southern gate.

“Miss, may I know your name?” The Administrator prepared to register Serica Darel.

“No need…”

Serica Darel watched Lu Li disappear at the street’s end; amidst the Administrator’s astonishment, she turned and walked in the opposite direction to Lu Li.

The slums.

Serica Darel approached a woman standing by the roadside, barely dressed, emanating a scent of low-quality perfume, telling her she could take her to the Lennon Islands.

No one can resist the allure of the Lennon Islands.

“Why should I believe you?” The woman asked cautiously.

“You might not trust me, but better trust them.” Serica Darel said, taking out a stack of Shillings from her bosom.

Anna believed Aunt Mary may have left clues in other places, such as the manor.

But besides the rudimentary Long House built there, nothing else existed.

And upon reaching the southern gate, they were met by the long-awaited Serica Darel.

“You rescued me, I want to help you too.” Serica Darel limped toward Lu Li and Anna.

“It’s just a sprained ankle, I can walk on my own.”

“Don’t push yourself.” Lu Li said, not refusing Serica Darel’s insistence anymore.

The nearest seafaring port from Himfast is Hope Harbor: a newly established bay port to the south.

However, Hope Harbor currently has routes only to Prince Fantess Port on the Main Affinity Continent; to go to the Barren Lands, a transfer at Prince Fantess Port is required.

With Serica Darel, they left Himfast, flying two or three miles away unnoticed, fifty miles toward Hope Harbor.

Hope Harbor.

Its name carries people’s aspirations.

Apart from the lingering smell of fish, the port also has a strong aroma of tung oil.

Because everything here is new.

Lu Li and Anna found the port administrator.

They received the exhilarating news: a Ms.

Mary indeed boarded a ship leaving port about half an hour ago.

They had a chance to catch up to Aunt Mary.

The administrator told them the next departing ship would leave in one and a half hours.

After purchasing three tickets at the ticket office, Lu Li and the others temporarily stayed at a newly opened inn outside the port.

Lu Li ate some food, but unexpectedly felt a bit drowsy afterwards.

He told Anna to keep an eye on the innkeeper and wake him before boarding and then slept soundly on a single bed.

Lu Li’s breathing became steady as he slept.

At some moment, a shadow quietly left from beneath Serica Darel’s foot.

Serica Darel, regaining control, first glanced at the sleeping Lu Li, her eyes showing sadness.

“Is that doctor dead?”

“He’s just asleep.” The voice under the black robe was cold.

“Will I be the second?”

No answer.

Serica Darel might have guessed something, wanting to change it: “I can see you love him…

but you took the risk to bring your beloved man out of safety, making him face even greater danger…

is it worth it?”

Anna silently shook her head.

“He shouldn’t stay at Seaview Cliff…”

“…” Serica Darel felt terrified because Anna revealed their location.

Anna kept speaking: “He should be a hero, walking on a hopeless land, saving strangers he never knew, assisting all those needing help, treating everything, even the strange, with equity…

instead of hiding in a safe house, waiting for an unknown end.”

“Mr.

Luli is just an ordinary—”

“He should be a hero.”

Anna interrupted Serica Darel, her ruby-like enchanting eyes burning like flames: “And I will help him become a hero.”

“Just like the Rope of God.”
