Detective Agency of the Bizarre
Chapter 586 - 586 One hundred and five

586: One hundred and five.

Perish together 586: One hundred and five.

Perish together Great Rift Valley, that’s what the demons of hell call it.

This dark crevice in front of Black Calamity Volcano split the hundreds of miles of the mountain range into a solitary island, extending from one end of the horizon to the other.

Compared to its length, the few miles wide abyss made it appear like a delicate, black thread.

“It’s right there.”

Breaking out of the Wind of Death, the people could finally see the Great Rift Valley at the scorched land’s end, turning into a reddish canyon on the other side.

The journey neared its end, but the hardest times hadn’t arrived yet.

Neither the pursuing Devil’s Son nor the Great Rift Valley itself was the danger of this trip, and the answer at the destination was still unknown—there might be no passage to the human world.

Anyway—

Lu Li looked back and could clearly see the black smoke rising day and night from the volcano’s crater.

The Wind of Death enveloping Black Calamity Volcano seemed as if it had never existed.

There was also the Devil’s Son hidden within, getting closer with each moment.

Even Lu Li, who was at a great distance, could clearly feel the wicked aura that it emitted recklessly.

It didn’t conceal its approach.

Skeleton Horse galloped towards its destination at extreme speed.

Its hooves reignited in flames, boldly igniting the scorched earth.

“I see it… the Devil’s Son!”

Soon after, Ruth’s exclamation came from behind.

Compared to the vast mountain, that insignificant figure seemed hardly worth mentioning, but the oppressive feeling enveloping them made it incredibly conspicuous.

“Can we go any faster?” Lu Li asked, looking down at Skeleton Horse.

For a moment, a response echoed in his mind.

We can.

But those on its back wouldn’t be able to bear it.

As time passed, the distant Great Rift Valley became increasingly clear.

Yet with each look back, the Devil’s Son seemed closer than before.

“Is this the direction you hastily flee towards?

A…dead end?”

Cold, mocking words suddenly resounded in their ears.

Lu Li ignored them, gripping the ribs of Skeleton Horse, staring at the Great Rift Valley just a few miles away and now within reach.

The nearer they got to the Great Rift Valley, the closer the Devil’s Son got to them.

Strangely enough, the Great Rift Valley, unlike all the oddities Lu Li had encountered, didn’t emit any obscure or ominous aura—he felt nothing at all.

Ruth felt the same, and so did Whitely.

They didn’t sense any threat or unease from the Great Rift Valley ahead.

It was as if what lay before them was just a river of lava, a chunk of rock, a handful of gravel.

Perhaps this was why the Great Rift Valley could silently swallow so many Hell Creatures.

Hope the Devil’s Son doesn’t know about it.

Lu Li thought.

Skeleton Horse finally stopped, just a dozen meters away from the Great Rift Valley, which even Hell Creatures dared not enter.

A broken bridge had fallen into the abyss, leaving only the ancient bridge frame covered in volcanic ash on the bank.

“What should we do?” Ruth asked, her gaze shifting between the Great Rift Valley and the Devil’s Son.

“Point at which one.”

How to get across, and how to deal with the Devil’s Son.

“Both of them.”

Lu Li did not answer Ruth.

He dismounted from Skeleton Horse and silently watched the Devil’s Son approaching a hundred meters away.

“I’m curious…”

The cold voice of the Devil’s Son filled the air: “Although my father has aged to uselessness and was only an incarnation, it could kill you, a weakling, by just rolling its fingers… How did you manage to make its incarnation dissipate?

With help?”

Those pitch-black eyes of the devil turned towards Ruth on Skeleton Horse.

She shuddered, almost unable to resist the urge to draw her gun for a futile counterattack.

But the Devil’s Son had already averted his gaze, lightly shaking his head.

“Not you…”

“It’s time for you to go back,” Lu Li said to Ruth, his gaze moving from her and Whitely to the Skeleton Horse.

The Skeleton Horse snorted and stepped aside, moving its limbs as if to leave.

The Devil’s Son didn’t care about their departure and instead looked at Lu Li with interest, walking towards him.

As it got close enough to Lu Li, the ethereal arms that guarded him reappeared, reaching for the Devil’s Son’s body, only to freeze just before contact, shattering into beautiful glinting fragments that fell to the ground.

Lu Li was also slowly backing away.

The sound of hooves fading, the Skeleton Horse stopped a hundred meters away, with Ruth holding onto the struggling Whitely as she watched the situation unfold here.

“Don’t feel like answering?”

The Devil’s Son moved forward as if stepping into a quagmire, slow, but that was all.

Its indifferent gaze fixed on Lu Li, approaching him, “No matter, I will know everything from your soul…”

Lu Li had backed up to the edge of the Great Rift Valley, as if he could smell the breath of the abyss below.

The Devil’s Son held out its palm a few meters from Lu Li, reaching for his head.

“Don’t worry, it’s going to hurt.”

Ruth couldn’t hold back.

Just as the Devil’s Son’s palm was about to touch Lu Li’s forehead, Lu Li’s gaze imperceptibly lingered for a moment behind it and suddenly said, “You can feel the strangeness of my soul.”

The hand halted.

“I’m different from other souls, and you may not find what you wish to know.”

The devilish eyes of the Devil’s Son narrowed into a dangerous curve, “Are you… threatening me?”

“Just trying to live a little longer.”

A moment of pause, and the Devil’s Son withdrew its hand, murmuring coldly, “Then tell me the way to deal with that incarnation.”

“You don’t get along with it?” Lu Li countered.

“You’re not worthy of knowing.” A bone-chilling cold surged as the Devil’s Son’s voice turned frosty, “Tell me… the answer!”

Its patience had vanished.

“The answer is…” Lu Li looked behind the Devil’s Son.

“Catch it.”

While the Devil’s Son was still trying to comprehend what he meant, the surrounding illusory arms suddenly became dense, grabbing its body.

At the same time, Lu Li ran to one side and suddenly lunged forward.

The ground began to tremble, with the source right behind the Devil’s Son.

Turning around in confusion, what it saw brought a flicker of surprise in the depths of the Devil’s Son’s eyes.

It wanted to leave, but those damned remnants kept pulling it back insistently to the same spot.

A sudden, horrible chill erupted from the Devil’s Son, freezing the gripping arms in an instant, shattering them.

But an endless stream of arms emerged from the void, not letting it go.

The Devil’s Son could no longer maintain its usual cold demeanor and twisted its face into curses.

“Damn you craw—”

Ruth, in the distance, let out a scream, and the Devil’s Son’s curse abruptly stopped.

The attacking Mishelia closed her mouth, swallowing the Devil’s Son whole, continuing unabated out of the Great Rift Valley, plunging into the abyss.

The sound of falling vanished into the darkness, and no more sounds emanated from the Great Rift Valley.

Lu Li rose from the ground, the Skeleton Horse carrying Ruth and Whitely over to his side.

“The Devil’s Son and Mishelia… are they dead?”

Lu Li looked into the abyss-like Great Rift Valley, remaining silent.

He was contemplating something.

Did Mishelia rush over to swallow the Devil’s Son just for food… or had she regained her sanity at the last moment to help him?

It seemed that he would never get an answer.
