Detective Agency of the Bizarre
Chapter 443 - 443 Three hundred

443: Three hundred.

Possible hiding places for Oliver 443: Three hundred.

Possible hiding places for Oliver Scattered across the second floor of the Police Station, Jojo and Lu Li, who had been rifling through notes and drawers, lifted their heads toward the sound coming from the Chief’s office.

Through the blinds, they saw a man knock over a water glass, soaking up the spill on the table to write a line of words.

After exchanging a glance with Jojo, Lu Li put down the notes and entered the office.

“If there’s someone you’re looking for, maybe I can help.”

The man’s fingers trembled as he finished writing, then he looked up at Lu Li.

Lu Li turned to look outside the office, and Jojo consciously moved to the corner, covering his body with his meaty wings.

Approaching the wooden door to close it, Lu Li turned back and said, “Oliver, not a local resident, the guide for the Yibu caravan.

You investigated him before when the caravan disappeared.”

“Oliver…” The man lowered his head, recalling, and slowly said, “I did see him earlier.”

“Have you found him?”

This was unexpectedly good news; Lu Li had thought that finding Oliver would be very difficult.

“Yes, we found him later.

I might know where he is now.”

“Where.”

“In the cellar of Murphy’s Restaurant.

It’s safe there, and there’s enough food.

The person you’re looking for is in there.”

“How do you know he’s there.”

“I’m guessing…”

Lu Li watched the man calmly for a few seconds before asking, “How do we get there.”

The man seemed to sigh with relief, his head bowed, his features hidden in the shadows, “I’ll take you there, in return, you need to bring me out of here…”

“That’s fine.

Get ready, I’ll go tell my companion.” Lu Li nodded, pulled open the door, and walked out of the Police Station office.

“Something feels very wrong about him…

Could he be using you to get into the cellar?” Anna whispered into Lu Li’s ear.

“A false clue is better than none,” said Lu Li, heading towards Jojo in the corner.

Their leads had been severed, and now they could only grope in the dark like headless flies for Oliver’s whereabouts.

Whether the news was real or fake, they had to give it a try.

Standing in front of Jojo, Lu Li said, “He might know where Oliver is.

We’re going to follow him.”

Jojo, who was taking off his meaty wings, paused for a moment before resuming his movements, not speaking, just nodding heavily and taking a deep breath through his nose.

There was nothing to prepare.

When Lu Li and Jojo finished talking, the man stepped out of the Chief’s office and came to Lu Li’s side.

Jojo tiptoed to remove the old map hanging on the wall and handed it to Lu Li.

Lu Li spread the map on the desk in front of him, drew a circle around the Police Station location with a pen, then passed the pen back to the man.

The man took the pen, leaned close to the map, and after careful observation, circled an area to the west of the Police Station.

Murphy’s Restaurant was also on Three People Street, less than three hundred meters from the Police Station, right at the town’s center.

To get there, Lu Li and the others would risk entering the center of the conflict and nearing the dangers of Shadow Swamp.

After confirming the location, Lu Li folded the map and handed it to Jojo for safekeeping, then walked to the window and lifted the curtain’s edge to peer outside.

The dark red clouds above still showered down blood rain, while the sound of wings flapping intermittently came from the sky, mingled with the barely perceptible sound of doors being knocked below.

The Human Head Balloons were still downstairs.

Behind the Police Station was One Person Street, where uneven, worn wooden houses stretched out without the neat cobblestone paths.

As prosperous as Three People Street looked, that was how dismal and filled with narrow alleys and dark corners One Person Street appeared.

It seemed calm, and hardly any Followers were visible on the streets, but how many lurked secretly was unknown.

Three People Street was the complete opposite.

Although Followers wandered the streets, the broad road allowed one to see straight to the end, with few hidden nooks and darkness.

Jojo shared Lu Li’s view.

Only the man felt One Person Street was safer, but his opinion, always from a state of hiding, didn’t matter.

Lu Li had decided on a route that went from the Police Station into the neighboring building and then approached Murphy’s Restaurant on Three People Street.

Anna was not suitable to appear in the sight of men, so without Anna’s help, Lu Li and the other two arrived at the ground floor of the Police Station, quietly passing through the chaotic scene and moving closer to the windows.

The dark and damp alley connecting three-person street with one-person street had no eerie outlines, and Lu Li wanted to open the window when the man suddenly pulled him gently.

“What are you wearing?” he wrote on the paper.

“Cloaks,” Lu Li took the paper and replied.

The man did not believe that such an ugly and strange thing was a cloak; he was more inclined to believe that Lu Li and Jojo were wearing something that could protect them.

“Can I have one?” the man wrote, unable to take his eyes off the flesh wings.

“We don’t have any spare ones.”

“But I also…” the man crossed out, then wrote below: “The monster will find me and kill me.”

“If you need it.” Before finishing, Lu Li handed the pen back to the man and then began to take off his own flesh wings.

“I’ll give you mine!” Jojo squeezed between the two, snatched the pen from the man’s hand, wrote down, and handed over the flesh wings to the man.

Overjoyed, the man tried to put it on, but as soon as his palm touched the wet and icy sensation of the flesh wings, he reacted as if touching scalding water, dropping the flesh wings and stepping back in horror.

“What is this?!”

The tip of the pen scratched the paper, and the man flipped the note to show them.

Jojo walked over, took the note and pen, and wrote: “The thing flying in the sky, it’s the wing, do you still want it?”

The man shook his head quickly, his face showing an attitude of resistance.

Reluctantly, Jojo picked up the flesh wings and put them back on.

After the interlude, Lu Li opened the window, and the three crawled out of the calm and safe Police Station, moving silently along the edge of three-person street outdoors.

Rustle rustle—

A mud-covered Six-legged Monster rustled across three-person street, dived into an open-doored building, and disappeared into the darkness.

Hiding behind the trash bin, the three peeked out and resumed their movement.

“We have been here before.”

A few minutes later, not far from Murphy’s Restaurant, Anna’s soft whisper reached Lu Li’s ears.

Lu Li looked up at the sign of the shop: Big Wave Tavern.

The tavern where they had stayed during their last visit to Shadow Town was now enveloped in darkness from the windows of Big Wave Tavern.

They passed quietly under the window and continued forward.

A minute later, the three arrived at Murphy’s Restaurant.

Diverting into an alley, they climbed into the backyard through a wall, sinking their soles into the wet mud, and the rich scent of blood filled the backyard, entering their nostrils.

An incomplete horse carcass lay in the corner of the stables.

Ignoring the horse carcass, the man trotted to the pile of firewood, pulled the ring on the ground board, and opened the cellar door.

A stronger smell of blood wafted out from the cellar than in the backyard.

Jojo, who had just approached, frowned, retreating and pinching his nose underneath the flesh wings.

“The person you are looking for is down there,” the man wrote on the note.

“There are no ghosts below,” Anna whispered in his ear as well.

Lu Li turned and walked to the front of the stable, took the oil lamp hanging from the post, and returned to the cellar, lighting the oil lamp and reaching his arm into the dank and icy cellar.
