Chapter 50: Cosplay sleep over
Chapter fifty
**Oliver West**
Mom agreed when I told her about spending the weekend at William’s place. I told her we were paired together for a school project which had to be submitted on Monday. That was enough to convince her but she called his parents to ask if they were alright with it.
Evening came and I was already at William’s house with my overnight bag. His parents were out of town for the weekend and his sister was having a sleepover at her friend’s place, which made everything perfect.
Good. When Kieran would show up tomorrow, how could he take me on that date if I wasn’t around? The image of his furious face had me giggling evilly, but I quickly sobered up. Who knew how he was going to get his revenge for me on Monday?
This wasn’t a permanent solution. I needed something to keep him away for good.
Luckily I had managed to retrieve my old phone when he dropped me off at home this evening.
I still get furious that he even blocked William’s number on my phone!! Why did he change so much? The boy from my childhood used to be so kind, but this evil replacement is just too much.
Speaking of the devil, my phone suddenly buzzed.
Are you already sleeping?
The phone nearly slipped from my hand, that bastard had even saved his number as Oliver’s boyfriend.
What the heck???
Three seconds later, another text came in.
Good night, don’t forget our plans tomorrow, I’ll be there by 11:am. Don’t play any games, pet.
Games? He was clearly the one playing with me.
I turned off my phone just in case he decided to call.
"So what’s the plan?" I asked, dropping my bag in William’s extravagant room.
I remember William mentioning something about spending the night out earlier.
"My cousin Alex is throwing a party tonight. It’s cosplay themed–"
"Absolutely not."
I simply wanted a shower and a nice sleep. A very long one.
My social battery was too low for any outdoor activities, Besides that, an even more horrifying thought was if mom ever finds out I went to a party, there was no doubt I would be grounded for life.
"Oh come on! It’s masked, so no one will recognize us. Plus, you need to get out and have fun instead of moping around about Kieran."
A loud groan of frustration escaped my mouth. Why did I have a friend who didn’t care that he was getting me into deep shit?
"It’ll be fun Oliver. When’s the last time you did something crazy?"
"My life is already crazy enough! I don’t need more problems. I need my rest, William. That’s it. I’m resting."
And two hours later, I was regretting every life choice that led me here.
"I am not wearing that," I said, staring at the outfit William laid out.
"It’s perfect! You’ll be Howl from Howl’s Moving Castle. Look, I even got the wig." He held up long blonde hair that looked way too realistic. I was liking the idea even less.
"Why can’t I just wear my normal clothes?"
Why was I even agreeing to go out in the first place? What sorcery did he use on me?
"Because it’s a cosplay party, Oliver. Besides, you’ll look amazing. Trust me."
I picked up the flowing coat and fitted pants. "This is so extra." William always loved cosplaying, but thinking he even had an outfit exactly my size made me wonder how long he had been planning this.
"That’s the point!" William was already getting into his own costume.
Yet again, Kieran was getting me into all the troubles I swore to avoid, because what the heck was this? Playing dress up when it’s near midnight.
"I’m going as Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen. Look at this mask!"
He put on the blindfold and struck a pose. With his blonde hair highlighted with white streaks and his slightly tall frame, he actually looked really good.
"Show off," I muttered, a bit jealous of his physique. I swear if I were that tall with well-defined muscles, I would probably go around naked. "You’re also the only one enjoying this," I grumbled.
"Says the guy who’s about to look like a fantasy prince. Now stop complaining and get dressed."
Twenty minutes later, I stared at myself in the mirror. The blonde wig fell perfectly around my shoulders, and the outfit actually fit well. With the decorative mask covering half my face, I looked like a completely different person.
William’s jaw dropped. "Holy shit, Oliver. You do look like a real prince. I might have to fight people off you tonight."
Heat crept up my neck even through the mask "Shut up." He could get me so hyped with his smooth tongue, no wonder I was dressed in this ridiculous outfit instead of sleeping in the warmth of his bed.
"I’m serious! You clean up nice." William grinned. "Kieran’s probably going to lose his mind when he sees you like this."
Even the mention of his name made my heart jump, then I frowned. This was his cousin’s party, Alex was a freshman college student, there was no way he knew Kieran..
"Kieran’s not going to see me like this because he won’t be there."
"Right. Definitely not." William chorused. " Prepare yourself, we are also doing a side quest, Captain Cuddles!"
Something in his expression told me I was going to regret it. "What side quest? William look..."
"We are going undercover baby!"
Whatever the hell that meant. I guess I was the one who agreed to it.
*
The party was already in full swing when we arrived. Alex’s house was packed with people that look to be mostly our agemates, and some older college looking student, but as we stepped inside, my stomach dropped to the floor.
Disco light flickered acriss the room, the music was blaring loud, but it was the skimpy and revealing costumes that halted my steps. Bodies pressed together on the dance floor, barely covered by scraps of fabric that could hardly be called clothing.
