Chapter 39: Seme’s Uke
Chapter 39: Seme’s Uke
Chapter thirty nine
**Oliver West**
I ran the brush over my teeth because there were only a few minutes left for school and I just had to wake up late today.
From my reflection in the mirror, the dark circles under my eyes glared at me, a solid reminder of the last two sleepless nights.
After that message from Kieran and wondering how the hell he’d gotten my number, I’d spent the weekend either moping at my phone for another text that didn’t arrive or sulk over my whole miserable existence.
I dragged in a long deep breath to ease the nervousness squeezing inside of me. He hadn’t been in school for the past week, perhaps he wouldn’t show up this week either? Or maybe until the end of the semester when I graduate and leave this town for good?
Could I be hopeful?
The memory of his lips mere inches away from mine was still vivid in my head and although I was shivering with cold at that time, I couldn’t forget the feel of us so close, and him wearing nothing but his underwear, had there been no interruption, would he have kissed me?
And why had I wanted him to?
I must have been out of my mind.
He was straight, if he’d done anything it would be for his so-called gay ’Experience’ to just humiliate me.
Thankfully, that mistake of almost kissing me had not happened for a second time.
What even possessed him to lie that I was his boyfriend? When he’d do much made it known to me that he hated ’faggots’
And to think that my mom along with his mother had supported us, the most shocking of all was my mom who seemed so happy about it.
Was it because she had known Kieran from childhood? How do I begin to tell her that this dangerous boy wasn’t the same boy that she knew years ago?
I had tried my best to convince her yesterday and the day before, but still, she believed I was insisting only because I didn’t want to disappoint her by getting a boyfriend.
I was pulled out of my thoughts when the doorbell sounded, who could be here so early in the morning?
A few moments later, I heard Mom’s voice yelling from downstairs, calling out to me.
I hastily grabbed my books and backpack and hurried downstairs, almost tripping along the way to the living room.
"Guess who is here to see you?"
My eyes widened in shock and disbelief because I couldn’t draw in a breath as I stared at the familiar figure beside her.
What the heck was he doing in my house again!
Oh god!
Please don’t tell me he was taking that silly prank seriously.
I wiped my palm against my jeans nervously because the morning was cool but I could feel traces of sweat forming along my forehead.
"Don’t just stand there, why don’t you welcome him?" she spoke with an expectant smile playing along her lips.
"W-welcome?" I stammered nervously under his unnerving gaze. WELCOME??!
She must be crazy.
"Well I was wondering if I could take Ollie to school today?"
Kieran spoke for the first time, breaking the tense silence, or maybe I was the only one feeling the tension.
Wait... what did he just say?
"You can’t take me! Mom always takes me to school, why are you here?" My voice was high pitched due to the queasy feeling churning in my stomach.
"Oliver, don’t be rude!" Mom spoke, throwing me a disapproving look.
"I was just saying..." I couldn’t finish my words when she spoke again, her loud voice drowning mine.
"Don’t worry, Kieran dear, I’m sure he doesn’t mean that, and of course you can take him to school."
I stared at her open-mouthed because did she have any idea that she was sentencing me to death?
Turning toward me, she continued, "You can go with him, you don’t have to worry about what I think, I already told you, I’m not discouraging you both."
I stared from her to Kieran who wore a triumphant smirk plastered on his face and for the first time today, I took a good look at him. He looked as handsome as usual. No, handsome couldn’t classify him, because there was something rugged about his look. I wouldn’t say hot either, because it sounded weird.
His perfect styled hair with just a few strands out of place that gave him a rugged bad boy look, his usual leather jacket and boots.
But was it just me?
Or did he seem a bit different?
"I’ll just go get my purse and keys in case I need to run errands after dropping Pumpkin at school," Mom said, heading upstairs.
The moment she disappeared, Pumpkin came bouncing down the stairs with her backpack, her eyes lighting up when she saw Kieran standing in our living room.
"Oh my god! You must be Oliver’s boyfriend!" she announced loudly, making me glare at her, I could imagine smashing my books over her wide mouth.
"Pumpkin!" I hissed, but she completely ignored me and walked right up to Kieran with the confidence only a twelve-year-old could possess. She was only four the last time she met Kieran, it was no surprise that she didn’t remember him.
"Are you really dating my brother? Because he’s been acting super weird lately, like yesterday he spent twenty minutes staring at his phone and when I asked him about it he threw a pillow at me," she said matter-of-factly.
What the heck, could I just sell her? Even for free! Anyone who would be willing to take her, or maybe I’ll donate her to those who really wanted a kid!
"Pumpkin, please stop talking," I begged, knowing that yelling at her wouldn’t solve anything, not when she wore that determined look on her face.
"What? I’m just saying, he is way more handsome than I thought he’d be. I mean, Oliver talks about boys from his manga all the time but I never thought he’d actually get one." She was still studying Kieran like a specimen.
Hell no!
She wasn’t going to talk about this with Kieran right here.
"Pumpkin if you don’t get your fucking basket mouth out of here...I swear I will...!"
"Are you cussing Oliver? I’m telling mom!" She retorted even before I finished.
Kieran looked at me with a lifted brow which somehow made everything worse. Great, he was probably thinking about how to use this information about him in the future.
"So are you the seme or the uke? Because Oliver definitely seems like..."
"OH MY GOD, PUMPKIN!!!" My voice could blow off the room.
What the hell did she know about a seme or uke??
Did she...?
Damn, well I hoped it’s not what I was thinking.
She looked between us with innocent curiosity. "What? It’s a legitimate question. I read some of your comics."
Mom seized most of them, how did she get her slimy hands on them? Thankfully, the ones I’d allowed mom to take away weren’t the explicit ones, but still...
"Well anyway, I approve," she declared, staring at Kieran and I with the authority of a relationship expert, "just don’t break his heart or I’ll tell Mom you’re being mean to him."
Mom’s footsteps could be heard coming back downstairs, and Pumpkin quickly grabbed her lunch box and skipped toward the kitchen like nothing had happened, leaving me standing there wanting to crawl under a rock.
Before I could utter more protests, Kieran snatched my arm and practically dragged me outside.
"We are running late."
Since when had he ever cared about being early because he even came to school at midday sometimes?
A yelp escaped my mouth while Mom just stared at us with a fond expression.
"Go safely, kids!" she called out after us.
No.
Don’t let him take me! I made one last desperate effort to stretch my arm towards her, but she shooed me away, even Pumpkin was gazing at us curiously.
I was going to get murdered and they would still be looking at Kieran with shiny red hearts in their eyes.
