Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!
Chapter 264: The Big Shot Takes Action

Chapter 264: Chapter 264: The Big Shot Takes Action

The situation was gradually becoming more pessimistic.

"Perhaps, it is time for me to take action personally. Although I would very much like to believe in the strength of the young generation this time, if things continue like this, there will inevitably be new sacrifices, and I will not allow heedless sacrifice."

The speaker was Li Yan, seated on a pile of books. His voice was aged, yet it sounded immensely reliable, and each word resonated powerfully, instilling hope in everyone present.

Yet, the worry was evident on the faces of many, as they knew to some extent the rules of Fairyland’s Barrier. They were concerned that relying only on Elder Li Yan might not resolve the issue smoothly.

"I know what you’re thinking. Though it was many years ago, I too am a winner of the Dragon God Conference. Even if my strength is suppressed, I am confident that I can perform well. Besides, I am not alone."

Li Yan looked towards the younger generation who were standing by.

"We have many outstanding members in the next generation. They just lack proper guidance, and this time I will guide them personally. I advise you not to hesitate any longer; dithering will only waste time that could be used to restrain the growth of darkness."

The people present looked at each other, knowing they could no longer delay and ultimately agreed to Li Yan’s plan.

Li Yan’s gaze continued to sweep over the younger generation in the Library. The individuals in the rank knew only the very tip of the iceberg when it came to the events unfolding. From their expressions, one could glimpse their apprehension about the future.

Only a very few among the younger generation had eyes brimming with unwavering determination. To them, the Library was their home, and if anything threatened its integrity, they were willing to walk through fire and water to stop it all.

These were the gazes that Li Yan was most satisfied with.

He just didn’t want these gazes to change taste under the wear of time.

"Tico, and others whose names I will call, come with me to Fairyland. The spots are limited; do not complain. The other elders will continue as is, keeping the fairy’s Barrier from closing, leaving the rest to me."

When their names were called, Tico stepped forward and came to the forefront of the younger generation’s ranks.

As the Library’s unparalleled prodigy, Tico could sense the sudden surge of magic power from the underground like the elders.

She was about to ask her master for clarity when Li Yan contacted her, so she hurried over.

Bearing the "Protective Magic" placed by the elders and informed of the secrets of Fairyland, Tico was not overly surprised.

Each time she used the White Ball to access information, Tico could sense a diligent point of light within the White Ball.

At first, she thought it might be an elder managing all the White Balls, but as she grew up, she realized this couldn’t be, and her curiosity towards the presence of the light increased.

She asked Li Yan, what exactly controlled the White Balls. Li Yan candidly told Tico it was a secret of the Library and that she would know in the future; now, there was no need to probe further.

Tico heeded Li Yan’s teaching, not pursuing the truth about the White Ball any further, devoting herself to her magic studies.

Now that the questions buried in her heart were answered, Tico felt not surprise but an indescribable sense of exhilarating relief.

Those selected to be part of the mission were quickly chosen by Li Yan.

Some of the younger generation in the Library showed excited smiles, others looked crestfallen, while many more heaved sighs of relief.

Those whose names were called stepped forward voluntarily, forming a line. In all, there were seven people in the group, which was the maximum number the pathway they had created could accommodate at once.

Murmuring their magic spells, the blue-colored Spells wound around Li Yan’s stooped form like chains, sinking into his body.

If Yang Yu were there, he would have been amazed to find that Li Yan had his Level set to exactly sixty and all his attributes perfectly suppressed at a thousand each.

Furthermore, if he entered the fairy’s Barrier, Yang Yu would find that the ages of the giant dragons and the elves couldn’t be calculated, perfectly evading the age restrictions.

Aside from Li Yan, it would be hard to find another suitable candidate from among the seated elders to enter Fairyland.

Leading the team, they entered the white sphere. Li Yan used Telepathy to communicate with the other elders, instructing them to activate their magic and send them into Fairyland.

A complex and gorgeous magic instantly enveloped them. The ground beneath their feet seemed to vanish as they all sank downward.

Almost simultaneously, every individual used Flying Magic to slow their descent, following Li Yan’s downward pace through the complicated Magic Array at the base of the White Ball.

As a stream of white light passed before their eyes, Li Yan and the others arrived in Fairyland through the shattered sky. Who would have thought that before they had a chance to assess their surroundings, a Destructive Light, carrying the breath of destruction, lunged straight at them.

Before the young Magicians could react, Li Yan, driving his book, positioned himself at the very front of the team. He raised his hand and brought it down forcefully, splitting the black Destructive Light in two, carving out an absolutely safe path for the team.

Every young individual present was unprepared for the fact that they had just arrived in Fairyland and were already under attack.

The "creature" assaulting them looked down with disdain, sprawled out on the azure "sky" like a toad.

"What is that? Are we really facing a giant dragon?"

"How could that be? Aren’t all giant dragons living in the Dragon God Evaluation Country?"

Despite knowing it wasn’t the time for astonishment, a few young Magicians couldn’t help but express their shock.

The robust legs of the Light of God Destruction kicked off, taking flight from the azure ceiling, flapping its wings as it assaulted the group.

Unperturbed, Li Yan, like the gaze of a dragon, watched the Light of God Destruction fly towards them and spoke, "Our next opponent is a giant dragon. Whether real or not, this is a rare experience. If you don’t want to die, focus with all your might!"

"Yes!"

All responded in unison, preparing their attack under Li Yan’s command.

At this moment.

Inside the black body of the Light of God Destruction, small spheres methodically formed a network, working in the profound darkness according to the will of the Light of God Destruction.

The Fairy that had been corrupted into the Core repeated the most painful part of their memories day after day until they completely lost hope in life. They willingly fell into despair and obliterated their own souls, turning thoroughly into a functioning component.

The acquisitions from the humans that had been assimilated into the Core also met the expectations of the Light of God Destruction.

As long as it continually stole Magic Power from the Magicians and plunged them into Despair, it could produce a great amount of Black Energy to empower itself.

By now, the Light of God Destruction had consumed five humans, four of whom proved to be of great use, serving as perfect power banks.

As for that man who had dared to taunt it, while he did not produce choice Black Energy, as long as he resided within the Light of God Destruction, it felt an indescribable comfort and delight.

Thinking of him tormented by endless Despair, the Light of God Destruction couldn’t help but laugh with a pig-like snort.
