Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!
Chapter 263: The Brain is Trembling

Chapter 263: Chapter 263: The Brain is Trembling

With a thunderous boom, the azure sky tore open a massive opening, and countless shimmering fragments fell from the high heavens, disappearing into the bright flower field.

The All Things Library dispatched two young magicians, Li Hao and Mink Angel, as the vanguard, entering the realm of Fairyland.

Utilizing flying magic to soar through the clouds, their vision was filled with impenetrable whiteness. As they slowly descended, an endless flower field came into view.

Both were astonished; they had never known that such a wondrous world existed beneath the All Things Library.

They were summoned in the middle of the night and had reluctantly climbed out of bed, somewhat resentful, but at this moment, the enchanting flower field swept away all their displeasure.

"Given that Fairyland is said to be facing an unprecedented crisis, it certainly doesn’t look like it from here," said Li Hao as he continued to gaze at the boundless sky. The more he took in the world around him, the more incredible it seemed and the warmer and more comfortable he felt.

Mink snorted, "Don’t make such indifferent remarks. Not every crisis is earth-shattering or flood-engulfing. Let’s just get this done. I want to go back to sleep."

"What a killjoy, it’s no big deal. Since the elders didn’t come themselves and sent us instead, it means the crisis can’t be that severe. We can take our time to greet the fairies; who knows, we might even receive gifts from them."

"Enough talk, let’s deploy the tools Baronaco gave us and set up the Surveillance Magic quickly. That way, they can keep an eye on Fairyland’s status and devise the best strategy."

"Yeah, yeah, I got it. Don’t rush me."

Muttering a few casual replies, Li Hao took out Baronaco’s provided tool, an apparatus akin to a music box, pre-set with surveillance magic by Paulonako.

Just then, a black beam of light pierced the thick clouds like a bolt of lightning, hurtling towards them.

While attempting to infuse magic power into Baronaco’s tool to activate it, Li Hao remained completely oblivious to the approaching danger.

Mink, with his not inconsiderable magical talent, sensed the rapidly closing magic power. He pushed Li Hao away, but was unable to dodge in time himself.

As Li Hao was suddenly pushed aside, he wanted to shout, "What are you doing?" but instead saw the black light engulf Mink, who was marked by panic.

Li Hao stood there, stunned; the tool he had been toying with slipped from his hands, and his friend, with whom he had been idly chatting just a moment ago, was completely devoured by the black beam in an instant.

At the other end of the clouds, a pair of pitch-black wings sliced through the sky, with hard, rhombus-shaped scales casting a kaleidoscope of colors below, and its colossal figure made the surrounding clouds lose all their luster.

Looking towards the source of the attack, Li Hao’s eyes widened in disbelief as he cried out,

"A dragon!?"

As the giant dragon drew closer, Li Hao couldn’t move a muscle, as if the dragon had bellowed "Za Warudo" and frozen his time completely.

"Damn it! To hell with this! I’ve never heard of any dragons here. Isn’t this supposed to be the land of fairies?"

Trying to move his stiff body, Li Hao wanted to open a protective shield for defense and to relay this news after escaping, but his trembling lips and brain refused to focus enough to weave magic.

That was until he saw Mink falling from the sky.

Mink, covered in blood but not dead, had completely lost consciousness.

But falling from such a height, he was undoubtedly doomed to die.

"Mink!"

Li Hao overcame the fear in his heart and wove Acceleration Magic at top speed, flying towards Mink and steadily holding him in his embrace.

Li Hao took out a potion from his clothes and poured it into Mink’s mouth. Mink’s injuries gradually healed, and his consciousness began to revive, but Mink’s first reaction was not relief but anger.

"Why did you come to save me? What you should be doing right now is to quickly contact the All Things Library and tell them everything you know, to prevent the black giant dragon from breaking out of the All Things Library. Don’t you understand what should be the top priority?"

"Your life is just as important, I will not allow you to sacrifice yourself like this. Contacting the elder is something that can be done at any time, but if you die, you can never come back!"

"...It’s not something that can be done at any time, you’ve already missed the best opportunity..."

Mink’s eyes were filled with helplessness. Following Mink’s gaze, Li Hao saw a gaping maw that had already appeared behind them, mercilessly swallowing them whole.

"To think that only so few people have come down, humans are unexpectedly cautious, what a waste of the Magic Power I’ve stored for so long. Well, even a mosquito is meat, so let’s just reduce the humans’ Strength like this, bit by bit."

The Light of God Destruction, continuously flapping its wings, hid within the clouds, waiting for the next victim to arrive.

...

"How come after such a long time, the two people who went in to scout haven’t sent back any messages? Before they went in, I clearly told them that the first thing upon reaching Fairyland was to set up a Surveillance Magic using tools."

Baronaco and other members of the Countermeasures Committee anxiously sat around the White Ball, maintaining the stability of the Barrier’s passageway while watching to see if anything strange came out.

The original Surveillance Magic had long lost its function under the impact of various spells, and to observe Fairyland protected by the Barrier, it was necessary to set up a more powerful and stable Surveillance Magic.

That’s why Baronaco had given the tools to set up Surveillance Magic to the vanguard troops to take to Fairyland, but until now, she had not received the signal that the Surveillance Magic had been set up.

Fortunately, Baronaco had taken precautions; she had left a Magic Power mark on both individuals, so contacting them through the Magic Power marks should not be a problem.

But no matter how many times Baronaco tried, she couldn’t get in touch with them again, their magic hadn’t disappeared, but rather it seemed like something was intercepting the signal.

What made Baronaco nervous was that one person’s Magic Power mark was damaged.

Unless hit by a fierce Attack, her magic markings were not supposed to be damaged.

This was a bad omen, meaning that just after the two had entered the Barrier, they had been attacked by something.

Baronaco quickly reported the situation to the other elders of the Special Measures Committee, all of whom were tremendously shocked.

Mink and Li Hao might not be top-notch in terms of Strength, but they were among the best. To kill them off so quickly, preventing them from setting up Surveillance Magic and scouting, would require some effort.

Yet, in less than ten short minutes, the two had lost contact...

The strength of the Darkness hidden underground might have exceeded their imagination.
