Demon Hunter and His Cabin
Chapter 961 - 711: Rod of Erode

Chapter 961: Chapter 711: Rod of Erode

Sky City.

Thunder and lightning crashed, and similar weather anomalies had lasted for a long time.

During its inception, whether in structure or function, this city surpassed the imagination of all inhabitants of Erode. It stood in the sky, pushing the boundaries of this world.

It was the City of Miracles in everyone’s heart.

Merely entering here meant an ultimate elevation of personal status, but Heyman had only recently learned that every crucial building and the distinctive structures of this city concealed extraordinarily important purposes.

He hovered mid-air, countless arcs of electricity coursing through his body, enabling him to feel every corner of the city.

Sky City was entirely under his control.

Soon, Erode would also be under his control.

Because once he completed the next step, he could leverage the core of Sky City to control other buildings scattered across the lands of Erode.

Thus gaining a terrifying power.

As the inspector had instructed, "A portion of all of Erode will become my weapon, and here I shall stand as an invincible force."

Heyman suppressed his inner excitement and carefully recalled the words the inspector had entrusted to him.

"Remember, mastery is not the most crucial part; you must use the interconnected power to pry open the entirety of Erode’s order, then seal the world barrier, transforming this place into your divine kingdom."

The inspector’s voice echoed from afar.

"Once everything is finished, you must imprint your mark here so that no one can escape your perception or leave this world."

"Moreover... anyone who dares to assault the world barrier will leave traces in the nearby space—track them, eliminate them, and suppress any budding threats."

"One true god is enough; the rest are merely tools subject to your manipulation."

Heyman’s emotions surged. Before officially initiating the ritual, his gaze swept across the void in a particular direction.

If his eyes could penetrate Sky City, they would settle upon a city located far away.

That was none other than where Evans had departed.

"What a waste—venturing to a low-energy world to pursue an ordinary woman and squandering so much time."

In Heyman’s mind, Roger was a concealed threat, as was Jora, who might have the potential to uncover the truth. As a result, he had implemented numerous defense mechanisms against them.

Yet based on the feedback he received, the world barrier remained perfectly intact, so Evans wasn’t likely to face strong interference.

Under these circumstances, Heyman’s dissatisfaction with the prolonged silence from Evans grew.

But he soon composed himself.

No matter; the world barrier was about to close, and through this opportunity, he would tap into a portion of Erode’s power, becoming the strongest being in this world.

By then, any resistance would merely be a desperate struggle—every moment the delay grew, Heyman grew stronger, a flicker of malicious delight rising in his heart.

Heyman even believed he shouldn’t eliminate Jora right away, but rather let her hide and evade endlessly through the ages, enduring constant fear.

"Inspector, I am beginning now."

The arcs of electricity converged all at once; in an instant, Heyman channeled the entirety of Sky City’s power, and a colossal vortex appeared out of thin air.

Simultaneously, in numerous corners above the sky, those originally mundane buildings underwent transformation, embedding themselves deeply into the fabric of space like nails.

In the unseen depths, these structures interconnected, and through Heyman, they activated a pitch-black vortex within the void!

Rumble!

Thunder and lightning erupted, resembling the end of the world.

The sky turned pitch-black, and beneath the city, in the imperial capital, countless people paused their tasks, stepping out of their homes to gaze at the floating City of Miracles above.

"What’s happening?"

A crowd murmured in alarm.

Crack!

A bolt of lightning, as thick as a water barrel, descended from the heavens, instantly vaporizing half a street in the bustling downtown—not the infrastructure, but the ordinary people roaming the streets.

The streets and buildings remained intact, yet under the lightning strike, everyone nearby vanished, leaving only empty clothing drifting to the ground.

And this was merely the beginning.

Thunder roared, enveloping the entirety of the city in a deluge of electric flashes. Like a rainstorm, the lightning’s descent claimed one vibrant life after another.

Meanwhile, Heyman in Sky City grew increasingly exhilarated, reveling in the surge of power flooding through his body, unable to suppress his laughter.

"Calm yourself!"

An icy voice rang in his ears, jolting Heyman into focus.

"Rise!"

Leveraging the power of the blood sacrifices, Heyman manipulated all of Sky City, using it as a fulcrum to instantaneously connect with the other structures spread across Erode!

"So this is how it works!"

His gaze turned ethereal; it seemed as though Heyman peered through layers of mist to discern the essence of the world, the fractured light and shadow, the splintered fissures...

"Seal it!"

The inspector commanded.

Heyman nodded, but at that moment, his peripheral vision caught sight of the world barrier silently opening a gap. An aura slipped through, landing somewhere far away.

"So familiar..."

"It’s Evans!"

A flicker of realization flashed in his eyes. "This fool has such luck; any later, and he would have been trapped permanently in that low-energy world."

"Incompetent waste! I’ll deal with you once this is over."

Retracting his gaze, Heyman cautiously controlled the immense power per the inspector’s instructions. Though simple in theory, it proved immensely challenging in practice.

At the moment his strength faltered, a black pillar of light infused him, shocking his spirit. Heyman leveraged that surge to complete the final ritual.
