Chapter 950: Chapter 705: Game Materials?_2

Perhaps...

This is part of the world’s evolution.

Roger suddenly understood something.

While Erode’s world possesses a higher energy level, its span of development is far shorter compared to the world where Roger resides.

If life could serve as an analogy.

Erode is like a newborn lion cub, while that world is akin to an aging elder nearing the end of life.

This phenomenon exists only during the early stages of world’s evolution.

"It can’t be wrong."

"The achievements I have today are also because of that unexpected event long ago."

Jora replied.

"Follow me, to the world’s edge."

Jora spread her wings and soared, her massive figure piercing through the clouds. Due to the earlier minor interruption, she deliberately increased her speed.

However now, even though Roger only retained the strength of his physical body, his mastery of spatial perception enabled him to surpass Jora’s expectations in terms of speed.

Heading northward, the temperature gradually dropped; even the formidable Transcendent Beings eventually disappeared from sight.

The world was a vast expanse of white, leaving only the two of them.

After a long while, Roger suddenly furrowed his brows and yelled, "Wait a moment, is our direction wrong?"

Jora turned back to look at Roger.

"This is already the fifth time we’ve passed this mountain peak beneath us."

"I know."

Jora’s face remained calm.

"You know?"

"Are you saying we’ve been treading in circles?"

Roger unleashed his power in an attempt to identify anomalies in the surrounding space, but the expanse was too boundless. Without comprehending its entirety, he naturally came up empty-handed.

"You’ve observed keenly, but we are not merely treading in circles. For the upcoming journey, at least until the destination, the scenery we perceive will remain repetitively unchanged!"

"Identical mountain peaks, identical landscapes—no distinction whatsoever?"

Roger’s face was filled with disbelief.

In the real world, unlike a game environment, invisible hands don’t endlessly pile and loop map assets at its edges.

This is indeed a real world.

Such occurrences are utterly absurd!

"Yes, you didn’t mishear me."

"The first time I reached there was purely coincidental; otherwise, ordinary people would never proceed forward amidst repetitive terrain."

"The eerier part is, if you realize this anomaly and retrace your steps, you can return to your starting point in an extraordinarily short time."

"For this reason, I believe that no one would willingly continue advancing. Additionally, the further north we go, the colder it becomes—even the Giant Dragons adept in harnessing the Natural Flame cannot ignite a single campfire in the northern regions."

"That place is immune to flames."

Jora extended her foreclaw, pointing northward, "But with my abilities you’ve inherited—so long as the fire within your heart remains unextinguished—though you may feel the cold, your life won’t be in peril."

"Hurry up, we must keep heading north. It’s been years since my last visit here, and I have no idea how much longer it’ll take to reach that place."

With those words, Jora unfurled her wings and continued northward.

"What a bizarre phenomenon." Roger could only suppress his doubts.

In the world he and Amanda lived in, reality was peaceful, yet in certain hidden corners, numerous Different Spaces intersected.

This phenomenon rendered the entire world bloated and distorted.

Erode’s world was boundless, and thus far, Roger hadn’t discovered similar indications. However, now it seemed that the so-called edge of the world Jora mentioned might be where Erode’s secrets lie.

Indeed, every world has its unique laws.

Calculating silently in his mind, Roger continued onward until even he felt engulfed in unbearable cold that pierced to the bone. Finally, Jora came to a gradual halt not far ahead.

"Five hundred seventy-four."

This was Roger’s tally for the number of repeated cycles.

"Last time, although I didn’t calculate in detail, the count was no more than two hundred or so."

Jora brushed off the ice crystals on her body and resumed her human form.

The frost clinging to her hair and brows only enhanced her cold beauty.

"We’ve arrived."

Jora took a deep breath, then released a piercing dragon roar that ripped through the clouds. The gales howled, and the snowstorm was torn apart.

Roger gazed far into the distance: ahead stood a mountain peak thousands of meters tall blocking their path. Right at the center of the peak, as if cleaved by a giant wielding an ax, a narrow pitch-black passage had formed.

From their vantage point, everything inside the passage was swallowed by darkness; the cold air emanating from within pierced straight to the bone.

Ever since becoming a Transcendent, this was the first time Roger experienced the frigid sensation he had once felt as an ordinary human.

"The mountain’s taller, and the temperature inside is even colder."

Even Jora slightly scrunched her neck in discomfort.

The powerful Vitality within her could repair wounds and fend off attacks below Fifth Tier, yet against such extreme cold, it provided no reprieve.

"Could there be powerful creatures lurking within?" Roger suddenly asked.

Jora shook her head, but her expression didn’t ease, "There’s no life inside, yet it’s even more dangerous."

"Let’s go."

She descended, and before the towering fissure spanning thousands of meters, their figures seemed minuscule.

From afar, the crack appeared narrow, but upon drawing closer, it transformed into a massive canyon.

Wooosh!

The icy wind lashed toward them, causing Roger to stumble. At the same time, a soft body collided with his chest.

"Should I take the lead?"

Roger steadied Jora’s back, asking softly. His voice was drowned by the wind, but his thoughts transmitted naturally.

"I’ll go first!"

Jora snorted coldly and hastened her pace.

[Link with the Earth]

Though the ground beneath their feet was solid ice, Roger managed to establish a connection with the land. The opposing force of the wind was neutralized, and he closely followed behind.

They ventured forward for an indeterminate distance when suddenly a thunderous crash echoed from the canyon. Roger looked up to see an ice chunk the size of a mountain collapsing from either side, hurtling toward their location.

"Quickly, move!"

Jora transformed into her dragon form, her tail whipping through the air with a deafening blow that smashed the falling ice. Meanwhile, Roger seized the opportunity to dart through underneath her, accelerating toward the distant end.

It was unclear whether Jora’s attack had triggered a vulnerable spot or if they had simply encountered a random collapse event, but a cacophony of crashes ensued, with icy boulders of all sizes falling overhead.

In any other setting, Jora could have evaporated the ice and snow with merely a thought. Yet in this peculiar place, the world seemed to operate strictly by its own inherent rules.

Here, there was only ice and snow—no flame.

Jora’s abilities were severely diminished, her power incompatible and nearly useless.

Roger acted swiftly, utilizing spatial manipulation to redirect the trajectory of falling ice. He grabbed hold of Jora’s dragon tail.

"Don’t linger, run fast!"

Jora responded by changing her form, while Roger, disregarding all else, gripped tightly and ran furiously forward.

"Let go of me, let go!"

Startled amid the chaos, Roger glanced backwards to realize he was clutching Jora’s ankle.

"Uh... my apologies."

Side by side, the two pressed on—one altering impact points, the other striking mid-air. After what felt like endless effort, they finally emerged from the dark canyon.

Rumble.

The cascading snow enveloped their bodies as Roger pulled Jora upright. Raising his gaze, he saw a world blanketed in ice and snow.

The sky revealed no distinct light source, yet the surroundings didn’t feel dim. Not far away was a dense forest—a vast expanse of trees resembling sculptures carved out of solid ice.

Minuscule snowflakes fluttered down, merging seamlessly into these icy trees. Within the transparent trunks, Roger noticed intricate vein-like structures piercing deep into the earth.

These tangled, fiber-like networks reflected across the transparent ice surface beneath their feet, stretching outward toward an unknown destination.

Simply through observation, Roger couldn’t distinguish whether the trees were mere statues or living entities.

"These things weren’t here before."

Jora’s voice came from behind.

Roger’s muscles slowly tensed as he sighed softly, "In other words, aside from these bizarre trees, there might be living beings within the dense forest’s depths!"

"You wouldn’t understand." Jora shook her head.

"In a place like this, it’s not the living beings that you should fear."
