Chapter 949: Chapter 705: Game Materials?

"Stop trying to test me."

Roger struck out with the Black Moon in his hand, retreating as he did so.

A trace of green fire flickered on the Sword Tip.

"That’s the Flames of Pain!"

Jora froze in shock. Although the flame was faint, it contained Roger’s own power.

Even if the cultivation method was the same, everyone perceived emotions differently, and this would affect both the strength and specific characteristics of the flame.

"How is this possible?" Jora repeated again.

"You actually managed to master it."

"How much time has even passed?" Jora, a rare genius herself, knew how extraordinary it was. In truth, being able to reach Fourth Tier Peak alone was something anyone could be proud of.

But thinking back carefully, she couldn’t even remember how much time she had spent merely going from initial exploration to shaping the flames herself.

This type of flame was unique to her, with no possibility of prior study.

"I don’t know why either. In any case, I mastered it very quickly, as if this flame was tailor-made for me."

Roger didn’t want to explain too much. After all, some things were beyond explanation. The fact was right in front of them; let Jora think whatever she wanted.

At this moment, Jora abandoned any idea of further testing. A complex emotion flashed in her eyes, but was quickly replaced by a hint of excitement.

"Your progress far exceeds expectations."

"Many plans will need to be adjusted because of this."

"What happened? You don’t look too great."

Jora nodded and recounted the events. The more Roger listened, the more shocked he became. Besides the forces on both sides, yet another strange group of disruptors had emerged.

"The whole world is in chaos, but luckily your progress has greatly outpaced expectations. For most people, Life Essence isn’t a major hurdle; however, breaking through in a short time requires some special means."

Jora said.

"Do you have a way?" Roger looked elated.

"It’s a bit risky, but in extraordinary times, there’s no other choice. Rest up, in a few days we’ll set off together—to the world’s edge."

"The world’s edge?"

"You’ll understand when the time comes." Jora said no more, turning and leaving. It appeared she needed time to recover as well.

"The Giant Dragons in this world possess immense Vitality. They control vast territories and act as a nation’s Guardian, naturally earning the loyalty of its people."

"There must be some transformation process we don’t fully grasp. After accumulating over the long term, their Vitality naturally reaches a certain limit, and all that’s needed then is a spark to break through."

"Truly enviable," Sonia said.

To avoid suspicion, she maintained her original unicorn form.

"With your current strength, if you want to construct a core, Life Essence is essential. This is an opportunity you must grasp." Sonia, knowing she couldn’t accompany Roger, still offered a reminder.

"I’ll figure something out."

Roger nodded and gave a few more instructions.

As Jora returned to the valley, Roger naturally couldn’t risk cross-dimensional communication; he entrusted this responsibility to Sonia.

Time passed swiftly. On the third day, Jora came to find Roger. Her state hadn’t yet returned to Peak condition, but the external situation was evidently tense enough to make her unwilling to wait any longer.

After hesitating for a moment, Roger still decided to leave his shadow near Amanda.

According to Jora’s explanation, this expedition held risks but wasn’t fatal. Leaving the shadow with Amanda ultimately afforded some protection.

If something happened suddenly, he could call it back anytime.

Jora’s form shifted into that of a Giant Dragon, beating her wings as she departed the valley.

"Where is this world’s edge you mentioned?"

Roger asked as he instinctively moved closer to Jora. He was just about to climb onto her back when a shockwave struck suddenly.

Caught unprepared, Roger was sent flying by the gust.

"Get lost!"

"I’m not your mount!"

Her booming voice echoed, and flames erupted from Jora’s body.

"Sorry, it’s just a habit."

Roger grinned awkwardly. Honestly, he hadn’t thought much about it—human forms were one thing, but after turning into a Giant Dragon, who wouldn’t want to ride?

So petty.

Muttering inwardly, Roger quickly changed the subject, asking his earlier question again.

"Erode’s world is vast beyond measure. What we currently know is far from its entirety, and the so-called world’s edge represents the unknown."

"Many years ago, I accidentally arrived at that place. It’s a snow-covered world, devoid of the slightest trace of life."

"And yet, in this utterly barren forbidden zone lies an emerald-green pool. The water contains the purest Life Essence!"

"Are you sure you weren’t mistaken?"

Roger was just as stunned.

The substance known as Life Essence couldn’t be casually extracted from just anything. It sounded like something an evil sorcerer would create by sacrificing life.

But in fact, it represented the source of life’s fundamental rules.

In other words, it even determined how long a species could live and what ultimate potential it could reach.

Only by acquiring sufficient Life Essence could beings like Sonia from low-energy worlds complete their evolution, bypassing their home world’s constraints.

And gain longer lifespans.

Now, Jora claimed that at this so-called world’s edge, there existed a lake entirely made of Life Essence!
