Chapter 911: Chapter 686: The Extra Fifth Tier_2
A flash of golden light streaked through, breaking through over a dozen barriers in succession. Roger furrowed his brow, pondering. Heyman was using methods that Roger did not understand.
Even if he knew the exact location, he had no way to sneak in quietly. If this attempt failed, his only option would be to resort to brute force.
The scene before him shifted, no longer the narrow caves and eerie underground. Blue skies and white clouds greeted Roger as he looked up, his eyes falling upon towering stone pillars.
And the giant dragon suspended from those stone pillars.
His heart pounded wildly. He took a deep breath, trying to calm his surging emotions.
There was no doubt.
The soul imprisoned within the dragon’s body—it was Amanda’s.
Instinctively, he stepped forward, but Heyman suddenly called out, "Wait a moment!"
Rumble! Crack!
Electric currents surged violently across the stone pillars, infusing the chains with power. The chains pulled ferociously, blood splattered everywhere, and the sleeping giant dragon let out an involuntary roar.
Then, its eyes opened.
"Ro..."
In her dazed state, Amanda saw the familiar figure. She opened her mouth and uttered a strange syllable.
"Is this an illusion?" The thought had just surfaced in her mind when Amanda understood the look in Roger’s eyes.
She quickly became aware of her surroundings, forcibly swallowing the rest of the word, and used her struggles to aggravate her own injuries.
Then, amid the roars, she lowered her head.
"Hmm?"
A hint of suspicion flashed in Heyman’s eyes. Just moments ago, in those familiar eyes, he had seen a foreign expression.
He knew Dora too well, but in that instant, it felt like he was staring into another soul.
"Is she the one?"
Roger suddenly broke the silence.
Heyman paused, suppressing the doubts in his heart.
"How long has she been trapped here?"
"It’s been hundreds of years," Heyman replied vaguely, completely dismissing his earlier doubts.
"She defied the will of the Dragon Court and betrayed you. Yet despite this, you still refuse to kill her."
"Am I to interpret this as your mercy?"
Roger fixed his gaze intently on Heyman.
"Mr. Geralt, what do you mean...?"
"Don’t misunderstand me. I’m not encouraging you to kill the only family you have. On the contrary, I..." Mid-sentence, Roger suddenly fell silent.
"There are many prohibitions around here?"
His earlier inadvertent actions had triggered the surrounding array, which had harmed Amanda.
"Yes."
"Occasionally, rebels attempt to rescue her, so I isolated this mountain peak entirely. But recently, such attempts have become increasingly rare."
"Oh?"
Judging from the situation now, Dora’s earlier escape attempt must have been part of a long-planned operation. Such an endeavor would stir upheaval across all of Ceylon Peak.
Clearly, Heyman was lying about this.
"Mr. Geralt..."
"We should leave now."
But Roger showed no intention of leaving. His eyes rapidly scanned the surroundings, trying to memorize as much as possible.
Now was not the time to tip his hand.
Aside from the powerful Heyman, Roger knew that even if he managed to critically wound him in a sneak attack, he would still have to disable the prohibitions to take Amanda away.
Too many variables could arise during that process. He couldn’t afford to gamble; a single misstep, and Amanda could lose her life.
"Mr. Geralt!"
It wasn’t until Heyman’s fourth inquiry, tinged with faint unease, that Roger finally withdrew his gaze. But just then, the entire space trembled violently.
The clouds parted, intricate patterns on the stone pillars wriggled, and chains clanged as blood from ruptured wounds on the dragon’s body flowed together, forming a bizarre pattern in midair.
Heyman’s face twisted in shock, and he couldn’t help but exclaim, "This is bad!"
"What’s happening?"
Amidst this sudden upheaval, Roger felt a surge of joy.
Change meant opportunity.
After a brief hesitation, Heyman relented and answered truthfully, "It’s the rebels."
"Oh."
"Is it for her?"
Roger noticed that since the moment the changes began, Heyman’s expression had grown increasingly dark.
"Yes. The entirety of Ceylon Peak has undergone my special modifications. They won’t bypass me to reach her."
"Mr. Geralt, please leave with me now. Once I’ve dealt with these rebels, we can..."
Boom!
The surrounding noise grew louder. Heyman no longer hesitated, striking with his palm multiple times to activate a golden dragon claw that shredded through the barriers, revealing the core of Sky City on the other side.
"Let’s go!"
In a frenzy, Heyman rushed outward, enveloping Roger in an invisible force. Yet, just before leaving, Roger’s form flickered, silently tapping a hidden point in the void.
Swish!
The stone-pillared dragon vanished entirely, as did Ceylon Peak, which was now being cloaked by swirling clouds. Meanwhile, chaos erupted above Sky City.
It was already evening, and the crimson hues of dusk painted the sky. What could have been a rare and beautiful sight, the red glow mingling with the clouds, now carried an ominous undertone.
Fiery light lent Sky City a touch of mystery.
But in the very center of that crimson horizon, a terrifying vortex emerged, growing larger and pulling more clouds and haze into its grasp.
Then, the crimson vanished, replaced by flames that engulfed the entire sky.
A giant dragon roared toward the heavens, carrying an endless heatwave, before crashing toward Sky City from the skies above!
One strike after another.
Countless fiery meteors poured out of the crimson vortex.
The air itself seemed on the verge of combustion. In the glow of the setting sun, the dragon’s scale armor shimmered with a blinding radiance.
Its body was sleek and majestic, its scale armor dazzlingly fierce. More importantly, its sheer size dwarfed any other dragon Roger had seen in this world.
Compared to this, only it deserved to be called a true dragon.
"What is that?"
"Its size..."
"It’s enormous, nearly blotting out the entire sky!"
Cries of astonishment rose from within Sky City.
But soon, the dragon, along with a barrage of meteors surrounding it, crashed brutally into Sky City’s defenses.
Rumble!
A kaleidoscope of colors reflected across the sky as the city’s defense mechanisms activated.
The varied meteors shattered upon impact, revealing hidden figures within.
But the most terrifying presence remained the dragon bearing the brunt of the onslaught.
Sky City’s defenses were on the verge of collapse, and just then, Heyman appeared with Roger above the city.
"What terrifying power!"
Even if this dragon had no other abilities, the raw physical might of its body alone was enough to devastate all before it.
"Heyman!"
"Release her, or I’ll destroy Sky City and everything you hold dear!"
The dragon roared as it frantically attacked Sky City’s defenses. Beneath its fearsome claws, the city’s protective barriers were on the brink of destruction.
"Jora, you fool!"
"You’ve ruined me..."
Something seemed to occur to Heyman, and his words suddenly ceased.
Roger knew many things Heyman had said earlier were lies.
The so-called rebels were far from weak; on the contrary, their strength was formidable. And the sole key capable of holding them back...
Roger turned to look back. In just a few breaths, the clouds dispersed again, revealing that the lone peak had already vanished.
Dora—the dragon named Dora was the ace Heyman used to suppress the rebels.
"I’ve had enough!"
"And so has Dora!"
"Hundreds of years of captivity and torment, all to grovel to the fleeting whims of the Dragon Court."
"If I’d known this would happen, I should have killed you back then, along with Dora, so she wouldn’t have to endure centuries of suffering."
Heyman’s face turned ashen.
Ping!
At that moment, Sky City’s defenses shattered like a bubble, and the dragon tore apart the surrounding barriers with a roar.
The next moment, its form shrank abruptly. The crimson glow and flames from the horizon coalesced around its figure.
When the light faded, a woman clad in red armor appeared in its place.
As Roger saw her face, he was momentarily stunned.
Though her demeanor was different, this was unmistakably the Dora he had seen before!
"Brother," she spoke coldly. "Let me see how strong you’ve become now that you’ve sold yourself to the Dragon Court’s will."
The aura emanating from her, strange and formidable, unmistakably placed her in the Fifth Tier.
And at that moment, Heyman, who had remained silent for a long time, finally erupted. Roger quickly calculated his next move, quietly retreating into the shadows.
Unbeknownst to Heyman, Sonia, who should have left Ceylon Peak with them, had been left behind with Amanda thanks to Roger’s subtle interference.
