Demon Hunter and His Cabin -
Chapter 902 - 682: Pulling Up Radishes
Chapter 902: Chapter 682: Pulling Up Radishes
Roger tried to listen more closely, but the sound near his ears suddenly disappeared. Even after waiting for a while, no voice came through.
Although the duration was brief, Roger wouldn’t treat what just happened as some sort of illusion.
Having reached this level, his mental clarity remained constantly sharp unless interfered with by external forces.
However, perhaps due to the distance or interference from energy, Roger could only discern Sonia’s voice, but couldn’t make out the specifics of her words.
"Respected..."
Seeing the expression on Roger’s face, Chachi immediately changed his tone, "Mr. Geralt, thank you immensely. If it weren’t for your timely arrival this time, I might’ve been in grave danger."
"That despicable bastard!" Chachi said through gritted teeth.
"For a trivial worldly gain, he dared to break the balance of our kin and sought a chance to invade my territory and ambush me."
"Is there anything I can do to assist you, Mr. Geralt?" he switched topics and asked with a smile.
"Don’t hesitate to ask. Once I’ve captured his territory, I’ll ensure every bit of its profits is turned over to you."
"Even if you might not care about such things, it’s merely a token of my gratitude."
"Your territory?"
Roger’s face briefly showed a trace of confusion.
"Please forgive my inadequacies. That area is indeed quite barren, with scarce resources, but there’s nothing I can do. My strength isn’t considered top-tier yet, though in the surrounding regions, I am regarded as a powerful Lord."
"The country I dwell in doesn’t have a large population, so it’s impossible to sustain a vast territory."
"But Sauls’ sneak attack this time violates the rules set by the Alliance. I am fully justified in declaring war on him and capturing the country under his protection. Once the population increases..."
"Then the territory area can be expanded."
"Of course, none of this would be possible without your assistance." Nearing the end of his speech, Chachi smiled flatteringly once again.
Roger hadn’t interacted sufficiently with him before to figure out his character, nor could he discern whether it was due to his actual strength or a misjudged identity.
At present, Chachi seemed excessively enthusiastic.
Though he didn’t state it directly, Roger could infer from his words that the "territory" Chachi mentioned likely didn’t refer to a specific stretch of land.
Instead, it seemed to specifically imply the unique spatial realm they had just left.
Piecing together clues, they appeared to be sustained by a nation within the real world and, in turn, were required to use their strength to protect the country, intimidating enemies.
This represented a mutually beneficial relationship.
A larger population and a stronger nation would enable them to expand their formidable territories.
It was foreseeable that the "territory" they referred to must have a direct impact on power growth.
These unique rules that governed them were likely sources of frequent wars and killings, yet it seemed these Giant Dragons belonged to a special collective.
A so-called Alliance.
As members of the same organization, engaging in private battles appeared to be disallowed.
The rules of the Transcendent World were vastly different from those of a peaceful society. Human societal norms and ideologies barely applied to the Transcendent Rules.
Peaceful, stable development aligned with the natural tendencies of human growth, but for Transcendents, especially High Tier ones, such ideals seemed almost laughable.
Weakness required the support and cooperation of others.
While overwhelmingly powerful individuals...
This ostensibly positive form of peace struck Roger as more akin to a form of suppression.
If the size of one’s territory could dictate their strength,
Restricting conflict could effectively curb everyone’s growth.
Leading to monopolization by those in higher positions.
It took Roger only a few sentences to deduce numerous implications.
Of course, some aspects were still speculative and required further information to confirm, but Roger didn’t comment much. He raised his head.
The two were currently in an upper-floor building of a courtyard, and from here, the surrounding pillars offered a view of the scenery beyond.
Endless forests stretched across the landscape, lush and vibrant. The time was morning, and the sunlight was dazzling. On distant hillsides, flocks of white sheep could be seen.
Youths in coarse linen jackets busily wove through the flock, sweating as they worked.
"I generally dislike being disturbed, which is why I deliberately chose such a secluded place. If you find it unsatisfactory, we can head to the nearby city."
"I visited there once over a decade ago. The palace was built quite nicely..."
"Have there been any significant events recently?" Roger suddenly interrupted Chachi’s rambling.
The two had indeed met before, and Roger had just saved Chachi’s life. Yet strangely, Chachi had mistaken Roger for a high-ranking figure from some special place, desperately eager to please him but unsure of what to say.
"Major events?"
Roger’s vague inquiry caused Chachi’s facial muscles to twitch, and his expression quickly turned solemn as his mind raced.
"If we’re talking about major events, then there are indeed a few. In the Northern Alliance..." Pausing for breath, Chachi recalled Roger’s presumed status and suddenly felt this distinguished guest might not care about mundane disputes.
"There’s not much to say about worldly matters. However, within the Transcendent World, there’s indeed a significant issue: the conflict with certain rebels has been escalating, and the Alliance plans to hold a meeting soon. Many Lords are expected to attend."
"Oh, and there’s also..."
Chachi spoke in fragments, straining to find notable topics.
To be frank, at this moment, he felt somewhat guilty. For a long stretch of time recently, his consciousness had lingered in another realm.
