Chapter 896: Chapter 679: Sorry, I Was Impulsive
"That girl is very likely already dead."
Sonia emphasized again, "It’s obvious that the other party was willing to abandon her original body. Either she suffered severe injuries or she was in a dire situation."
"So much time has passed. Even if you reach the other world, you’ll ultimately gain nothing."
"I still have to try."
Roger softly repeated.
Sonia hesitated for a moment, "Let’s go, we’ll leave here. Take me to see that girl."
Roger knew Sonia was referring to Amanda’s body.
After some time conversing, her complexion improved slightly; then, she leapt into the air and soared out of the Abyss.
There was finally a glimmer of hope. Roger let out a long breath and turned to glance at the other side. Anna had already withdrawn the defensive barrier from her body.
"Going back?"
"Let’s go to the place I mentioned and take a look."
Anna hesitated for a moment but eventually shook her head.
"I will go back, but I need some time."
This unique Kingdom of Women had just started to find its footing under her influence. Leaving now would mean abandoning the entire tribe.
"Alright." Roger nodded, not pressing the matter further.
This time, his return likely wouldn’t take long before he would leave again. If everything went smoothly, he might find another opportunity to return here.
"By then, if it weren’t for Amanda’s situation, you might consider staying here for a few more days."
Anna smiled.
"They treat me as a goddess, and this tribe is composed entirely of women..."
Roger looked awkward, but before leaving, he left the exact address of Kaer Morhen. He also reminded Anna to seek help immediately if faced with danger or an emergency.
Or head straight to Kaer Morhen.
Even if Roger wasn’t in this world, Uma possessed Transcendent strength, and, given time, Higurashi Chika could hold her own as well.
After the trio left, the space trembled. Without its supporting force, the surrounding barriers pressed inward, crushing the pocket of space within.
Outside, daylight had broken. Beneath their feet, the volcano remained dormant and lifeless; in the forest, lush trees stretched endlessly.
No one knew that a battle had previously erupted here.
Exchanging a glance, Roger and Sonia walked away together.
Soon, the forest returned to its usual tranquility, while Anna made her way back to the mountaintop of the Kingdom of Women.
Looking at the deep pit she had dug not long ago, Anna suddenly lost interest.
She understood that even if the Magic Mirror were fully restored, given Roger’s combat prowess exhibited earlier, the Magic Mirror could no longer give him an edge in battle.
"Perhaps this is for the best."
Looking at the flourishing tribe, Anna exhaled deeply.
"Once everything is settled, it’ll be time to leave this place."
Meanwhile, a few helicopters circled, breaking the forest’s silence. On one of the planes, a beautiful girl with sun-kissed skin lifted her sunglasses and eagerly stared down at the forest below.
"Finally found this place."
Panambi murmured.
"Trying to shake me off?"
"This is my closest step to the Transcendent. So what if my family doesn’t support me?"
"Fools, none of them believe in my words."
As she spoke, Panambi stealthily pinched the crystal vial she carried with her.
The moment this thing is shown, it would instantly earn everyone’s trust. But such a treasure wasn’t enough even for her to use alone. How could Panambi possibly be willing to share it with others?
Moreover, the family’s factions were complex and convoluted. Being young and of low status, she certainly couldn’t easily bring out such a thing.
So, she came here alone in secret.
"Miss Panambi, where’s our exact destination?"
"We’ve just been circling in the sky?" the helicopter pilot asked.
But before Panambi could make a decision, the instrument panel emitted a piercing alarm, the pilot’s expression dramatically changed, and he desperately attempted to control the aircraft.
"What’s going on?"
"Not sure, I did a thorough check before departure... Oh no!"
"We’re going to have to make an emergency landing!"
"Emergency?"
Before Panambi could comprehend the meaning of this word, the helicopter spiraled downward, plummeting into the depths of the forest.
Crash and tumble.
No one knew how much time passed before Panambi groggily opened her eyes. What she saw was a group of tall women barefoot, their bodies faintly clothed, covering only important areas.
The language they spoke during their communication seemed to be that of an ancient tribe, from which Panambi could barely discern a few phrases.
Sacrifice... goddess...
A chill ran through her heart as she instantly thought of countless cruel rituals.
"Damn it, the helicopter... Could there really be Cannibal Tribes here?"
As a historian, she was painfully aware of the strange and peculiar traditions passed down by ancient civilizations on this continent. Soon, her consciousness grew dim.
Countless afterimages appeared before her eyes.
After an unknown period of time, Panambi awoke again. She was enveloped in unending darkness. Alarmed, she hurriedly felt herself all over.
She wasn’t worried about violating threats while unconscious. Rather, she was terrified of seeing her limbs rolling in boiling water in a pot the next moment.
Whew...
Everything was intact.
Her mind eased slightly, and her eyes adjusted to the darkness. Just as she started carefully observing her surroundings, suddenly, a voice echoed from a corner not far away.
"Where did you get this bottle, and the liquid inside?"
Accompanied by the voice, a woman stepped out—a being as elegant and mysterious as the night.
Panambi tensed up, unsure how to answer. Soon after, she heard the woman’s second question."
