Chapter 895: Chapter 678 Absorbing Fragments_2
"My eyes..."
Sonia’s body wavered unsteadily.
"This is the beginning of all evil."
"Hillrenes only took a part of my eye, the one I inadvertently acquired in another world."
"Before achieving Fifth Tier, the thing a Transcendent needs to change the most is their life force, and this is also the first World Fragment we fuse together."
"But what I obtained did not enhance my vitality, instead it granted me a pair of extraordinary eyes."
"Eyes that can pierce through the mist and find a safe path."
Sonia sighed, "She betrayed me, yet the power she gained was incomplete."
"Since she hasn’t come," Sonia’s lips curved into a faint smile, "I imagine she must have suffered a major loss while traversing worlds."
"Is she okay?"
Roger shook his head, "She’s heavily injured, trapped in a world and unable to leave."
"Perhaps she stirred up serious trouble in the west."
Sonia let out a cold laugh, spreading her hand as the glowing eyeball floated before Roger.
"This is a unique treasure. The rules it contains are quite miraculous, and it will be immensely helpful on the path to ascension."
Her condition appeared extremely poor, and taking out the eyeball seemed to have damaged the very essence of Sonia’s body.
The surrounding space was still enveloped by the energy of the Hunter’s Cabin, and while the specific functions of the eyeball remained unclear, some information had already been verified by the cabin.
Roger extended a finger and gently touched the eyeball.
In an instant, an avalanche of information flooded in.
He saw an eyeball as large as a planet, in which bizarre and indescribable creatures lived, engaged in chaotic warfare and the flourishing of civilizations.
But something unknown happened, causing the entire planet to fracture, its rules scattering into countless fragments, of which the one in Roger’s hand was the last remaining piece after traversing multiple worlds.
Along with it came numerous peculiar insights, illusory hallucinations, mental disturbances...
A faint realization stirred in his heart. These strange rules were absorbed by the Hunter’s Cabin, and simultaneously the Dharma Seal in his mind began to emit a faint glow.
Roger knew: this was the herald of a new Sword Seal about to be born.
The rules and abilities within the eyeball differed significantly from those of this world, and thus far, what was easiest for Roger to comprehend and accept was swordsmanship.
Originally, this was a tremendously difficult process of absorption, yet the Hunter’s Cabin seemed to find a subtle balance after obtaining the eyeball.
Allowing the wondrous force to be extracted and transformed, thereby being understood and mastered by Roger.
"This kind of power..."
His heart trembled with emotion.
The Hunter’s Cabin felt more like an omnipotent rule converter, as if it had deciphered the underlying logic of different worlds.
Of course, such a statement now would seem exaggerated and overstated, but to Roger, this seemed to be the evolutionary direction of the Hunter’s Cabin.
Still, a curiosity lingered within him.
The very foundation of the Hunter’s Cabin—those alchemy potions, Dharma Seals, swordsmanship, and other strange and bizarre creations—where exactly did they originate? Which world?
Did a Wizard’s world actually exist?
Was Geralt and Kaer Morhen real?
Reining in his thoughts, Roger clenched his fist lightly, and the eyeball in his palm vanished into thin air. At that moment, the surrounding space trembled, and an enormous eyeball in the sky descended like a meteor.
Unlike earlier, this eyeball now contained a trace of power that Roger recognized.
The power belonging to Hillrenes.
"That woman certainly came prepared."
Without hesitation, Roger unleashed the Black Moon.
The sky transformed into complete darkness, followed by gleaming moonlight piercing through the void.
The beam of light vanished as swiftly as it appeared.
Then, the vast eyeball in the sky seemed to implode, shrinking rapidly before it ever touched the ground, shattering into pieces.
The remaining fragments were unexpectedly consumed directly by the Hunter’s Cabin.
His heart tightened.
Before departure, Hillrenes had intentionally obscured her words. Her ambiguous attitude inevitably led Roger to overestimate the Guardian’s strength.
For his own safety, once entering this Different Space, Roger had nearly no hesitation; he was determined to strike first.
Moreover, his initial strike would always be the most lethal one.
Given the stance of the Giant Dragon, even if the Wings of Shadow resisted automatically, they were still mere objects. Sonia’s fate was evident.
At that point, having acquired the wings, Roger would have no choice but to find Hillrenes to continue their subsequent transaction.
But what Hillrenes did not anticipate was that after all these years had passed, the situation here had changed.
Under oppression, having been drained of most of her strength, Sonia still found a sliver of survival—most importantly, thanks to... Salam.
Of course, that guy was now completely gone.
He had certainly been helpful. If not for his interference providing a momentary buffer between Roger and Sonia—
The real outcome would likely have aligned with Hillrenes’s expectations, unfolding step by step.
Yet even so, that woman had laid out a second plan.
She deliberately confused Sonia’s gender, inevitably intensifying Roger’s doubts.
Imagine someone constantly claiming to want honest mutual trust with you, yet concealing a crucial detail like their gender.
Under such circumstances, any online stranger would go berserk.
Moreover, even if both sides truly reached an agreement, the unbreakable curse would leave Roger with no choice but to kill the creature before him.
After all, when the scales were balanced, on one side lay a stranger, while the other held his closest... female friend.
From beginning to end, everything was under Hillrenes’s control.
That woman.
Roger took a deep breath. Now the wings were gone, and the transaction could no longer proceed.
He was left with only one path forward.
"Is the only thing here that pair of wings?"
"Yes."
Sonia responded.
"Hillrenes is stronger than me. At that time, she hadn’t yet formed a complete dragon body when she entered the Fifth Tier."
"Due to the issue of lifespan, I dared not casually enter other worlds, but one day she suddenly told me she had discovered a special world fissure."
"Through that fissure, she vaguely saw something."
"Such opportunities are irresistible for any Transcendent. It’s like a heavenly gift; without the need to undergo an Advent, one can safely obtain a World Fragment."
"More importantly, she mentioned that there was something there that I needed—a special fragment to resolve issues of lifespan."
"We came here together."
Sonia’s tone was calm.
"And then she betrayed me."
"She didn’t just want my eyes; she plotted to imprison me and use my vitality to lift the curse within one fragment."
"If you count the time, she actually should’ve been here long ago."
Sonia sneered coldly.
"But she ran into trouble. Hah, it really is fate."
"So there wasn’t any fragment with lifespan-augmenting rules here after all?"
Roger interjected.
Sonia pressed her lips, her expression dimming slightly.
"No."
After hesitating for a moment, Roger still sought assistance, "You already know why I came here."
"I need to save my friend. How do I enter the world she went to?"
"You want to save her, go to another world?"
Sonia shook her head.
"I advise you to abandon this absurd idea."
"You will die."
"Either on your way there, or on your way back."
"Right now, your only option is bodily Advent. Even with the true Eye of Truth, this is riddled with countless uncertainties."
"You are not Fifth Tier yet."
"And what’s even more fatal is your vitality."
"In another world, without fusing corresponding fragments, you won’t last long."
"You’re different from that girl. She underwent transformation under Dragonborn rules and retains some protection."
"But you’re not the same. This chance comes only once. Next time, you won’t have enough vitality to venture into another world."
Sonia spread her hands.
"Going would be slow suicide."
"Even if you manage to return, you’d have sacrificed your chance to reach Fifth Tier."
"Hah..."
After hearing Sonia’s words, Roger instead let out a faint laugh, "This might qualify as good news."
"Because at least it suggests you know how to get to that world."
"Tell me, what must I do?"
Sonia froze momentarily, meeting Roger’s gaze. In his eyes, she saw only urgency and determination.
