Demon Hunter and His Cabin
Chapter 831 - 647: The Meaning of the Cabin_2

Chapter 831: Chapter 647: The Meaning of the Cabin_2

It’s clear that Sword Master Cold Crow should have come from the region controlled by Silver Dragon; what followed in his growth and transformation after that, Roger was unaware of.

Now, he understood more about the original conflict between Sword Master Cold Crow and Tengu Divine Master.

To achieve a longer life, Tengu Divine Master must have concealed something. Using it, he barely extended his lifespan.

But this change had already led him down a path of no return.

This was no longer a matter of right or wrong.

But a reckless form of madness.

The battle broke out soon after. Sword Master Cold Crow was injured; Tengu Divine Master’s body collapsed. Yet it was evident that he had been prepared, and he immediately commenced a new round of research.

Without the ability to fuse with special Guardian Spirits, Extreme Path is presently the world’s highest attainable limit—both of power and the tier of existence.

To break through, one must chart an entirely different course.

There’s nothing that surpasses the Land of Eternal Darkness in its cyclical rebirth.

Looking at it now, Tengu Divine Master’s research didn’t just focus on himself; it extended to the fusion of the two worlds. Perhaps his pursuit was no longer simply to elongate his life.

But to become akin to those Superior Leaders.

In this light, his actions undoubtedly altered this world, but the end result was not for some so-called peace.

"What has Tengu Divine Master done to let the forces of the Land of Eternal Darkness invade Everworld without hindrance?" Roger asked.

"Similar things started being carried out a long time ago; it’s just exploding now. Everworld and Eternal Darkness are like the two sides of a palm—they were originally one entity."

"Tengu Divine Master is merely using a different method of fusion this time."

Bai Ling responded.

"So, what does he count as now? A person, or a patchwork Superior Leader?"

Roger pressed further.

"I don’t know, you’ll have to try facing him yourself."

"I’ve already said all that I can; now, will you let me go?" Bai Ling begged.

Roger raised an eyebrow slightly.

"When did I ever promise to let you go?"

"You?!"

Bai Ling’s face twisted in despair. The next second, a heavy iron fist landed squarely on her chest.

Thud!

Blood erupted in a ghastly bloom on snow-white skin; her chest and back were pierced through, shards of her organs spewing forth. Bai Ling let out a hopeless, harrowing scream, but during her earlier flight, she had already lost some of her power. Now, Roger’s control over her suppressed her ability even further.

Roger, at that moment, was in a strange state of power—its fusion stronger than normal.

A single punch tore through Bai Ling’s chest, and his other hand then struck her forehead.

Bang!

The seemingly casual palm strike concealed layers within, condensing power at a singular point before erupting violently.

"You despicable human!"

Bai Ling roared in wrath, but the next moment, her head burst apart in response.

In the instant her skull shattered, Roger felt a faint resistance against his strength.

It was a cluster of pale, hazy light, bearing within it an eerie symbol.

Undecipherable yet instantly comprehendible upon contact.

Such an odd way to describe it.

The meaning of the symbol itself represented Bai Ling.

Immediately following, Bai Ling’s flesh and blood disintegrated and fell from the sky into the swamp below.

Glug glug glug.

Several greedy faces emerged from the viscous liquid; the twisted, worm-like creatures tore Bai Ling’s body apart and gulped it down.

After their feast concluded, they frantically tangled together, beginning a new round of fighting.

The scene was eerily familiar. Roger glanced up at the distant changes occurring atop Green Hill.

That creature’s evolution had nearly reached its peak. Following Bai Ling’s death, bubbles rolled within the winding marshes, hinting at unseen battles playing out beneath the muddy liquid.

This region seemed to be selecting a new proxy.

Roger’s body lifted slightly; instead of leaving immediately, he carefully observed the entire process.

A premonition stirred in his heart—there was something abnormal about the changes in Tengu Divine Master. If he couldn’t decipher some of the secrets here, he might find himself at a disadvantage in the battles to come.

Beneath him, the seemingly chaotic hidden skirmishes were still governed by distinct and peculiar patterns upon closer inspection.

Elsewhere, the transformations in the blue-green body were even clearer.

The small hill had the feel of a miniature world, operating under its own unique principles.

This reminded Roger again of his Hunter’s Cabin.

The difference lay in that Roger, though he joked about being enslaved by his house, still retained dominion as master—whereas over at the other side, Green Hill was the sole entity that ruled.

"The key lies in that mark."

Roger firmly committed this to memory. The power of Superior Leaders stemmed from their respective regions, and the key to their rebirth lay hidden within the symbols on their foreheads.

At this moment, Roger’s figure—which was in a peculiar state—moved slightly, and the radiant halo surrounding the Alder Sword Seal showed faint signs of splitting once more.

This fusion of the Sword Seal had lasted longer than ever before. Roger surveyed his surroundings; every nuanced texture of space seemed to hold bounteous information.

In the instant the halo fragmented, he seemed to grasp some unique connection between Eternal Darkness and Everworld. With a light wave of his hand, Roger stepped forward.

An invisible barrier shattered; the surrounding scenery shifted. When all was calm again, Roger had extricated himself from that special fusion state.

He sighed inwardly at the lost opportunity. His exchange with Bai Ling had unveiled more secrets, granting him numerous speculations about this world.

Exhaling deeply, White Frost extended far into the distance. Feeling the surrounding temperature drop, Roger raised his head, setting his gaze upon the snow-blanketed Hankawa.

"What is this?"

"Teleportation?"

Roger understood that he had merely acted on a spur-of-the-moment intuition, grasping at some obscure connection to transport directly from the Land of Eternal Darkness to the foot of Hankawa.

Taking a deep breath, he quickly sensed the pungent stench of blood, followed immediately by the madness of slaughter.

"Higurashi Gushan—why is he here?"

Suppressing the confusion in his mind, he leapt straight towards the summit.

Let all things culminate here with a definitive conclusion.

The summit was buried in snow, blanketing the entire space. Yet colder than the snowflakes was the frigid killing intent of Higurashi Gushan.

He resembled a bloodthirsty beast, hunched over and panting heavily.

The light of reason had vanished from his eyes; the hilts of the Twin Blades seemed fused to his palms.

He was no longer human—just a machine for slaughter.

With his reason obliterated, the fully unleashed Higurashi Gushan was far stronger than he’d been in the Land of Eternal Darkness.

Only by abandoning oneself can one become pure.

"Hah... hah..."

A sickly smile hung at Higurashi Gushan’s lips. His attack style mirrored his deranged state at that moment—wild and unrelenting. Yet, Sword Master Cold Crow, his opponent, appeared far calmer.

Gray robes, black sword, pale hands.

Sword Master Cold Crow stood motionless, and even the snow surrounding him remained undisturbed.

Though Higurashi Gushan’s assault was frenzied, within the sphere touched by Sword Master Cold Crow’s blade, his efforts became meaningless.

Since the beginning, it had been Higurashi Gushan initiating attacks non-stop. Sword Master Cold Crow seemed merely to be adapting—to his new "body."

"Meiryu, in the blink of an eye, so many years have passed—even you have entered the level of Sword Master."

Tengu Divine Master observed the distant battle, speaking nonchalantly.

"But your talent is limited; following in Shuntsuki’s steps means you’re destined to stop here. When he dies, come join me."

"I can help you surpass your current level."

Tengu Divine Master spoke in a relaxed tone, as if the person he intended to kill had nothing to do with Yatagarasu Akiryu.

"Father will win."

Yatagarasu Akiryu replied.

At that moment, Tengu Divine Master withdrew his gaze to cast a sharp look at Yatagarasu Akiryu. "No denial—that means you’ve already agreed."

His metallic face revealed a peculiar smile.

"You know, Meiryu, this is the one thing you’re better at than Shuntsuki."

"Assessing situations, submitting to the strong!"

"That’s good!"

His eyes upon Yatagarasu Akiryu brimmed with approval. But just then, from the direction of the mountain’s base, a voice pierced the icy winds and reached the two of them.

"I think it’s not good."

"Because neither of you will leave here alive."

Roger stepped through the snow steadily, leaving behind a trail of crisp, clear footprints.

Hankawa lay beneath his feet.

"You?"

"Roger!"

Yatagarasu Akiryu’s eyes widened in panic, as though facing his greatest enemy—but Roger didn’t even glance in his direction.

"Stay far away. You’re not even qualified to serve as my warm-up."
