Demon Hunter and His Cabin
Chapter 340 - Chapter 340 Chapter 340 Shadow Gate

Chapter 340: Chapter 340: Shadow Gate Chapter 340: Chapter 340: Shadow Gate Roger took a step forward, and this time Anna appeared incredibly clear in his line of sight–so much so that she could almost, no, she could even be said to be indistinguishable from an ordinary person.

“What did you remember?” Roger asked.

Anna shook her head.

“A lot, it’s all jumbled up, and I can’t even tell if some of the memories are actually mine.”

She looked down at her hands, “I might have done many bad things.”

“Like grave digging?” Roger joked.

“So you knew all along.”

Anna glanced at Roger.

“After all, it’s just recycling waste. Don’t overthink it. If you can remember something from back then, we might be able to follow that clue to find the other parts of your body.”

Having obtained the right leg bone, Roger felt that the strength of his female neighbor had explosively increased.

At that moment, Anna also saw the portrait in the corner of the wall.

“Is this really me?”

She frowned, “Why don’t I have any impression of it?”

Putting down the portrait, Anna walked casually around the room, and when the moonlight shone through the window onto her, it cast a distinct shadow on the floor.

The Anna before him now seemed just like a living person.

Roger didn’t speak; he followed behind Anna, wandering through the empty house.

If she once lived here… seeing these familiar objects might help Anna remember something.

The wooden planks were old, and as they walked on them, they creaked and groaned, sending dust into the air. Anna moved very quickly, and in no time, she had walked through the abandoned manor.

“It’s okay if you can’t remember right now, you might just need a little time,” Roger consoled her.

But at that moment, Anna seemed as if she hadn’t heard his words and continued walking on her own.

“Anna?”

Roger called out softly.

“We should go back now.”

“Wait a minute, there’s one last room.”

Anna headed to the end of the hallway.

“Room, what room?”

Roger was slightly taken aback.

Anna turned around.

“Didn’t you see it? It’s right there.”

She pointed to the end of the hallway.

“A black door.”

Roger sharply activated Hunter Vision and mobilized all his spiritual power.

There was nothing but empty space at the end of the hallway, no unusual energy.

“Could it be that this abandoned manor hides a piece of Cursed Land?”

Roger’s eyes lit up, and he quickly walked over to Anna, grabbing her hand.

“Where is the door? Take me in.”

His hand felt icy cold, and Roger couldn’t help but shiver; the chill wasn’t of a physical sort.

It penetrated to the marrow, straight into the mind.

“It’s really something to be admired from a distance, and not to be…”

Anna didn’t mind Roger’s action, and without a word, she led him to the end of the hallway.

“I’m going to open the door now.”

No sooner had she spoken than Anna’s other hand touched the pitch-black door.

Darkness encroached.

The notification panel in his consciousness popped up a prompt.

[Shadow Gate]

For a moment, as if he had been immersed in the sea, Roger couldn’t feel the temperature or the air.

But soon all sensations vanished, and everything returned to normal.

He stood side by side with Anna at the end of the hallway, holding hands.

The dilapidated floor, the peeling wall paint.

Everything seemed unchanged.

“What happened?”

“Have we arrived at another place?”

Roger had encountered many Cursed Lands, and indeed some would perfectly mimic everything seen in reality, just like the villa in Veronia.

He glanced at Anna.

“Have we entered the world behind the door?”

Anna nodded.

“What is this place?”

“I don’t know either.”

The two retraced their steps along the original path. Initially, Roger was very cautious, but after exploring a large part of the abandoned manor, he gradually noticed something strange.

This place didn’t seem to be a so-called Cursed Land at all but was entirely normal reality.

Because here, he could normally sense the presence of Hunter’s Cabin, which no Cursed Land could simulate.

“What the hell is this?”

Roger took Anna outside of the house, and through the gaps in the trees, he saw a brightly lit building in the distance.

“Shadow Gate, is this some kind of joke…”

Before he could finish, Roger froze on the spot. In his vision, the manor was still dilapidated, but at that moment, the notification panel gave him an unexpectedly surprising hint.

[Synchronization with a house possible]

Upon seeing these words, Roger almost jumped on the spot. To date, he had acquired three Hunter’s Cabins, but he still hadn’t figured out the principles behind them.

The most bizarre thing was that this house obviously couldn’t, not long before…

“Could it be because of that so-called Shadow Gate?”

“By passing through that gate, have Anna and I actually entered a different area?”

“What does this count as?”

For a moment, Roger felt hesitant. His previous experiences made him realize that houses capable of synchronization weren’t as easily found as he had imagined.

It seemed there were some special conditions.

Apart from that dilapidated hut on the island, from the Graveyard Cabin to the Mist Hut, and now the one in front of him.

Each environment they were located in was very strange.

The Graveyard Cabin came with its own graveyard; Roger followed the clues and found Anna’s remains.

There was no need to mention the Mist Hut; even now, Roger had not fully explored the central area.

And the one in front of him was no less bizarre than the previous two.

“No, I can’t be impulsive.”

Too many things had happened that night, and Roger felt he needed to calm down.

“Let’s go, let’s leave this place first.”

Upon hearing Roger’s words, Anna nodded, her body spun, and she turned into a domino that fell into Roger’s hand.

The moment he secured the domino close to his body, Roger couldn’t help but think that next time he should make a convenient pocket–wouldn’t this way of handling things cause Anna to misunderstand?

Not returning to the abandoned manor behind him, Roger walked towards the distant lights, but just as he crossed the area enveloped by the manor, everything in front of him became hazy.

When he came to his senses, he found himself back at the end of the corridor.

Looking down, a bit of moonlight fell from the latticed window onto his body, and his vague shadow appeared and disappeared at his feet.

“Shadow?”

Roger suddenly realized something he had been overlooking all along.

For a long time, his shadow had been missing.

He turned around, and there appeared a pitch-black door on the wall behind him.

And this door was one he should not have been able to see.

He opened the notification panel, trying to synchronize with the room, but he couldn’t complete this operation.

With doubts, Roger reached out his hand towards the door behind him.

A familiar sensation came over him, and he looked up at the patchy moonlight scattered down from the latticed window.

As he looked down, he sighed softly.

“Indeed, my shadow is gone.”

“Or should I say, at this moment, am I…”

“Perhaps just a shadow?”

Roger was becoming more and more curious about the so-called Shadow Gate.
