Chapter 339 - Chapter 339 Chapter 339 Anna Wakes Up
Chapter 339: Chapter 339 Anna Wakes Up Chapter 339: Chapter 339 Anna Wakes Up Things went much smoother than Roger had anticipated. After obtaining the mask, Roger did not leave immediately.
He still had a few questions to ask Claudia.
“Where did you get this mask from?”
“The grand hall in the room downstairs?”
Claudia shook her head, “What you see now is all an illusion; none of what’s in the room actually exists.”
Roger suddenly thought of the sudden change in the surroundings when he had fought Dilio earlier, and everything he had seen while bobbing up and down in the elevator.
“This counts as a cursed item, I suppose. I call it ‘The Door of Heart’s Desires’.”
Claudia didn’t elaborate much, but from the name, Roger could roughly guess the item’s function.
Though there must be many restrictions, thinking back to everything he had seen tonight, Roger couldn’t help but be very curious about this ‘Door of Heart’s Desires’ that Claudia held in her hands.
“Come with me.”
“The real manor is actually on the other side of the hill.”
Roger followed Claudia out of the room. As they stepped outside, a night breeze swept through, and the manor was brilliantly lit, each scene inside a dazzling spectacle.
The two walked through a rear staircase into the darkness, passing row upon row of dense woods until a dilapidated three-story building appeared before Roger.
Baroque domes and spires, dingy wall coatings, and moss crawling over the surfaces near the ground.
Years ago, perhaps this place had been as prosperous and bustling as the manor they had seen from the front.
“Let’s go in and take a look.”
Claudia pushed open the heavy wooden door, and a musty smell hit them in the face. The arrangement inside the room was somewhat similar to the hall Roger had previously seen.
Only, the walls were bare, stripped of any decoration.
“When Dilio came, the mask was placed on the table right in front of the door.”
“Obviously, it is a cursed item, but even after searching the entire manor, Dilio couldn’t find the source of the item’s creation.”
“Different from the surrounding decay, the mask was shiny and new, and even though there was a thick layer of dust on the tables around it, its surface remained spotlessly clean.”
As he entered the room, the domino he kept on him began to tremble even more violently.
“Could I have a moment alone?”
“I’d like to have a look around.”
Roger said.
“You want to investigate everything about this family?”
Claudia glanced at Roger, “Go up to the study above. There are a few portraits there.”
“Since you’re planning to take care of the manor in front for me later, I’ll give you this place.”
Claudia seemed very generous, “If you need renovation, I can help as well.”
“Thank you!”
Renovating such a big house would require a significant amount of money.
Before leaving, Claudia’s head rotated 180 degrees once again, and this time she took another mask off the back of her head.
“If you need anything, you can contact me at any time using this mask.”
As he examined the mask in his hand, to be honest, Roger couldn’t tell what material the mask was made of, and he was very curious about how many more such masks were hidden within the body of the woman before him?
Once Claudia had left, Roger took out the bone mask again.
He brought out the domino he carried and placed the two together. A weak glow emanated from the point of contact, but it was soon consumed.
It seemed an invisible force was preventing their combination.
“What’s going on?”
Roger was somewhat baffled. As he walked upstairs, he opened the notice board in his consciousness.
[Blood Clan’s Mockery]
Beautiful, powerful, elegant–the proud Blood Clan never considers other vampire monsters as their kin.
But the thirst for blood outweighs all, and until they grow strong enough, even members of the Blood Clan are merely slaves to blood.
The bones twisted by darkness become a tool for manufacturing garbage.
Blood, more, warm blood, as for the glory of the Blood Clan, to hell with it!
After repeatedly checking the description of the mask, some thoughts surfaced in Roger’s mind.
“Is it because of the erosion by the dark energy of the Blood Clan, or is Anna not human at all?”
As he pondered, Roger pushed open the wooden door of the study.
Creak, creak.
The room contained only the empty bookshelves and a pile of disordered portraits in the corner.
Brushing off the dust, Roger examined each one carefully.
These portraits were identical to the ones he had seen previously in that great hall, and the last one depicted.
It was Anna.
Anna wore a vintage long dress, with an intricately designed pendant hanging from her snow-white neck.
Her hands were folded quietly, and her appearance and demeanor were very much in keeping with that of the portrait’s subject.
The last master of the Lietta Family.
The Duchess who married one of the Green brothers.
And at that moment, what Roger held in his hands were the remains of this very Duchess.
“What exactly happened back then?”
Although the woman in the portrait looked exactly like Anna, was she really Anna? Or perhaps just one of Anna’s ancestors?
Why did the distinguished Lietta family fall into decline, and how did Anna’s remains end up a thousand miles away in Bordeaux?
Too much time had passed, and there were too few clues left in the manor, Roger had no idea where to start.
Clasping the cold mask in his hand, Roger knew that this might be the only way forward.
As it turned out, the mask had been transformed by special energy into a cursed item, which isolated the natural essence of the mask’s material.
Normally, it was nearly impossible to restore a cursed item, but what others couldn’t do didn’t mean Roger couldn’t do it either.
With a thought, Roger chose to summon temporarily.
After a moment of dizziness, the notice board provided a new prompt.
Hesitating for a moment, Roger still decided to hand over the mask in his possession.
If he acquired the third house, the mask would certainly help raise the level of Hunter’s Cabin a bit.
Now, Mist Hut had already reached its level cap.
Soon, the strange energy was drawn out of the mask, and the item Roger held in his hand returned to its original state.
It was a complete leg bone!
As the leg bone was fully exposed, the previously unresponsive Domino began to emit a faint glow.
Their light merged, and the entire leg bone melted into the crevices of the Domino!
Powerful energy was released from the Domino, and Roger couldn’t help but step back several paces; this was the first time he had summoned Anna in the Hunter’s Cabin.
With a bang, the Domino shattered, and the air filled with a swirling cloud of bone dust, followed immediately by a familiar figure emerging from it.
“Anna…”
Roger softly called out.
Anna’s eyes were tightly shut, and her Spiritual Body seemed to endure immense pain; gradually, her soul was nourished, and the shattered bones began to reassemble in their original positions.
The left forearm and the right leg bone.
When everything was complete and the two pieces fused perfectly, Anna suddenly spread her arms wide and let out a pained roar from her throat.
Opening her eyes violently, a burst of powerful force blew Roger away instantly.
In her daze, she heard a voice whisper in her ear.
“My dear, please forgive me, your sacrifice deserves to be remembered!”
The intact bones suddenly exploded into fine dust, evenly spreading across her body as Anna floated down from the air; she felt a hint of coolness at the corner of her eyes.
“Can a Spiritual Body shed tears?”
