Demon CEO's Hidden Love: Mr Grayson Stole Me From My Abusive Husband -
Chapter 76: A Wise Choice
Chapter 76: A Wise Choice
Cassie smiled at the gifts laid out on the table in front of her by Gilbert, the Grayson heir’s assistant.
"You should tell Mr Grayson that I’m thankful for his gifts, and would like to see him in person." Cassie said, her gaze trained strictly on the designer purchases on the table.
One of the maids tried to take them inside, but ended up getting scolded, "You bitch! Who told you to get your filthy hands on these?!" Cassie raised her voice, startling the maid, who looked to be in her forties.
The woman bowed her head, "I’m sorry, I just thought-"
Cassie hissed, "Just get out of my sight!" She said, letting the maid off easy because of her guest. She wanted to make a good impression, and find chances to get closer to the Grayson heir.
Once they were alone, Gilbert cleared his throat and spoke up, "Miss Crane, I understand that your father was charged with crimes relating to extortion and underpaid labour?"
Cassie nodded, "But it’s all lies, the people who filed those charges are all just jealous of my family’s success. Especially that Brooke." She cursed.
Gilbert maintained a straight face. "Mr Grayson extends his apologies for your predicament and has offered to assist you in anyway he can."
Cassie couldn’t help but smile. "Oh, but I wouldn’t want to intrude on his kindness. I’m just an actress, I couldn’t possibly pay him back for helping me."
She went on, "But if I can ask, is Mr Grayson such a generous man? I don’t believe we’ve met before, so why is he extending so much kindness to me?"
"My boss is an intentional man. He never makes moves unless he’s intrigued, and I can safely tell you miss Crane that Mr Grayson is very much interested in you." Gilbert responded, taking out an envelope from his briefcase.
He slid it across the table towards her, "Over the past three days, four of your father’s investors have announced the end of their endorsements and sold their shares. Some sponsors are also voicing out the intent to end their contrats." He informed her.
Cassie gasped. It was the first she was hearing of this. "What? How could they abandon us in this hour?" She picked up the envelope and took out the file inside it.
"What’s this?" She asked, staring at the document, unsure of what it meant.
"Miss Crane, I understand that you and your mother have a joint ten percent of shares in your father’s business. Mr Grayson is interested in buying off your shares." He announced.
"What?!" Cassie widened her eyes, "Mr Grayson wants to join our company?"
Gilbert nodded, "You see, my boss cannot make a move to help you without some backing. He is very conscious of his family’s reputation, and would not entertain distasteful rumours." He explained.
Cassie frowned, "I don’t understand, does he want to help my father or take over our company?! Explain this to me!" She demanded.
"In order for my boss to help your father out of prison, he needs a good reason to. People would bat an eye if he helped your family, and just like this Sadie woman, we could encounter problems. However, if he were a shareholder of the agency, I don’t think anyone would think it strange." Gilbert calmly said.
He explained further, "Ethan Halton has twenty percent ownership of your agency’s shares, he would have ten percent, enough to make decisions without tarnishing either if your reputations."
At the mention of Ethan, Cassie frowned. She still hadn’t forgiven him for abandoning them.
"Why don’t you try buying the shares from the investors that backed out?" Cassie asked, "I don’t know about selling our shares..." she had a bad feeling, but couldn’t understand why.
"That we cannot do, someone else has already bought out the thirty percent shares from the investors." He informed her.
"What?! One person bought all the shares?!" She spat out, feeling lightheaded at the news. "Who is it? Who bought them?! Whoever it was didn’t coincidentally buy them, it’s too timed."
Gilbert sighed. "The person who bought them is unknown, they did well to keep their identity hidden, the only thing about them I was able to gather was that it was a woman, with the initial, B.G."
"A woman?" Cassie gasped, "What does B.G mean?"
Gilbert shook his head, "Like I said earlier, I don’t know as of yet. I couldn’t find anything regarding her business or her family, the investors were made to sign an NDA."
"If you’ll look at the terms of the agreement, you’ll also find the amount Mr Grayson is willing to buy each share from you." He announced as Cassie flipped through the pages.
The second her gaze fell on the page carrying the amount, all the doubts she had faded completely.
’Holy shit! This amount...’ she raised her gaze to see if Gilbert was laughing, but he kept a straight face, showing how serious he was.
’Cassie you really have hit the jackpot with this man! Is he really that interested in me? Rich people are really a different breed. If I can get him to spend this much on me when we’re not together, imagine how much he would spend when we are!’ the thought seng goosebumps all over her arm.
Gilbert continued, trying to get her to sign the agreement there and then. "Think of it this way, your father retains the highest number of shares, being forty percent, Ethan Halton keeps twenty percent, my boss keeps ten percent, while the woman, B.G keeps the rest."
Hearing that her father still remained the boss of the agency sounded like a good enough assurance for her. After all, her father could intervene if Mr Grayson was really trying to scam her.
She imagined all the money she would make off of this deal, she imagined her father getting out of jail as a bonus. And not to mention getting the chance to show Ethan that he was just a worthless man to her.
She felt she would be a fool not to take him up on this offer.
Eager, she announced, "Alright, I’ll sell the shares."
Gilbert smiled fully. "A wise choice."
