Chapter 67: A Sensual Car Ride

As the car drove away, Brooke kept stealing glances at Sadie, until she was no longer in sight.

"You’re that worried about her?" He asked, his voice honeyed and clear.

She let out a sigh. "I feel somewhat responsible to that girl, it was my family that made her suffer." she reclined into her seat, and closed her eyes to take a short nap.

But images of Cassie flooded her head, she rubbed her bad leg, the memory of Cassie pushing her down the stairs flooded her mind.

She broke a nervous sweat, as she remembered the menacing look on Cassie’s face, as she looked down on Brooke’s pained tear filled face.

"Brooke!"

She snapped out of her thoughts, when Thane’s hand placed itself over hers. She opened her eyes and saw that he had gotten closer, bridging the gap between them.

"Are you alright? You look pale." He inched closer, his face laced with a worried expression.

She swallowed, "I-I’m fine."

"But your face is flushed." He replied, still so dangerously close their legs touched, causing an electric like jolt to course through her body.

Her lips parted, as he inched so close that she was sure he would hear her racing heartbeat. But was shocked when she heard his heartbeat, and it was pounding just as fast as hers.

She raised her gaze to look at him, only to see his eyes were intense, casting a yearning look at her. She drew her gaze to his lips, and couldn’t help imagining how sweet they would taste.

A sudden flush of warmth circulated from her in-between her legs and stretched throughout her body.

Her breath came in rushes, as Thane’s fingers trailed up her hand, slowly, burning every ounce of skin he touched. His fingers rubbed and stroked the side of her neck, making her close her eyes and tilt her head, relishing his touch.

Thane’s voice came out in a deep whisper, "The restaurant." She heard him say.

"Restaurant?" She responded, unaware of what he was talking about.

Thane took his hand off her neck and playfully flicked her forehead, "We’ve arrived at the restaurant." He announced, killing the tension.

Brooke cleared her throat and took a sharp breath. "Ah, thank you." she said, tightly pressing her legs together.

He crossed his legs, and looked out the window. "I was just wiping away some dust." he explained.

She nodded, too flustered to care about what he said.

Meanwhile, the driver who had witnessed all this through the rear view mirror, nervously dry coughed, "Sir, ma’am, we’ve been in the parking lot for ten minutes now." The driver announced.

When his boss suddenly leaned in and started flirting with Brooke, he was too afraid to even leave the leave the car. What if he opened the door and interrupted them? Hence, he helplessly sat in his seat, making a mental note to get out immediately he stopped the car the next time.

"Sir, you’re not coming out?" Brooke asked, when she noticed Thane hadn’t left his position.

Without sparing her a glance he replied, "I’m not hungry."

"But...I thought we could eat together." She voiced out, half scared that he noticed how bothered she was and took offense by it.

’He was just wiping off dust and see how far your perverted mind flew! Brooke you are an animal!’ she scolded herself.

"It’s fine." Thane insisted.

Brooke had no choice, but to leave with the staff who came out to greet her, and the driver, leaving Thane inside the car, alongside his little...inconvenience.

Sadie was stunned beyond words when she was addressed as the so called special client and immediately felt it was Mr Grayson’s doing.

The manager upon realizing her blunder once more pleaded, "Please. Come see the collection."

Not wanting to cause trouble, Sadie agreed and went with them. The other two who had been making fun of her, couldn’t believe what was happening and tried to follow.

But the manager stopped them.

"I’m sorry, but beyond this point is the VIP area." She said, her tone peachy.

The blonde woman scoffed, "Do you know who I am? If that scum woman can afford your VIP treatment, then your store doesn’t do justice to its reputation."

Her friend concurred, "Her? A VIP? There must be some mistake. But anyways, how much of a purchase must I make to get the VIP status?" She asked, waving her hand around, flaunting her rings.

The manager calmly told them the amount, and both women’s jaws dropped to the ground.

"There’s no way that bitch paid that much in one purchase!" The blonde claimed.

Even the manager also thought that way, but she had seen the picture, there was no mistaking it. But now that she knew that woman was somehow loaded, or had a strong figure backing her up, she swiftly changed sides.

"Please, if you’ll excuse me." She excused herself from the conversation and swiftly left to attend to Sadie.

For the first time in Sadie’s life, she walked out of a high end shopping store with over ten bags. To crown the experience, the staff members held the bags for her, and Thane had kept true to his word and sent a car over.

"Please, come again soon Miss!" The manager greeted, even daring to wave at the car until it drove off.

Sadie immediately took out her phone to call Brooke and thank her for everything, but a call came through from an unknown number. She was skeptical at first to answer it, but ended up answering.

"Hello?"

"Sadie?" The unfamiliar male voice asked.

"Hi. Um, who is this?" She sheepishly asked, wondering how this man had gotten her number.

"It’s Lucas." He answered her.

"President Lucas?!" Her eyes widened, she sat up straight and started fixing her hair. "H-How did you get my number?" She asked, recalling she hadn’t placed her personal number on any social media platforms.

As an actress, although a low level one, she knew what to do and what not to do as a professional.

"I’ve always had it. Since I saw you in that stage play." He confessed under his breath, causing the woman’s heart to pound rapidly.

She recalled the fliers had her private number, but the play was unsuccessful and she didn’t get one call out of it.

"I see. So, what can I do for you?"

"Can we meet up? Where are you? I’ll pick you up." He said over the sound of his car door being opened and closed.

He wanted to see her?

Was it about the movie?

She shook her head in disbelief. He must’ve seen the news that she was sueing Luther Crane, he wouldn’t possibly want a problematic woman on his set.

"Um, I don’t know. Wouldn’t that be hard on you-"

Lucas eagerly chimed, "Not at all. And don’t worry I’ll make sure to send you back home as soon as we finish speaking." Quickly he inserted, "Of course, only if that is fine by you."

She smiled at his clumsiness, "Alright. Let’s meet up at..."

*Grayson Mansion*

The entire ride home, Brooke and Thane did not speak to each other. When Hannah and Gilbert came out to welcome them, Thane went ahead to the garden and asked for his chess board. Whilst Brooke headed straight for the elevator, without even saying hello to Hannah.

Hannah turned to Gilbert and gave him an all knowing look. "Something definitely happened between those two."

This time, Gilbert nodded, "I can see."

Hannah pointed at the garden’s direction, "You take the young master, I’ll handle Miss Brooke. There’s something fishy going on here, and we have to find out." She grinned.

Gilbert made a face, "And how is that our business?"

She harrumphed and folded her arms. "It’s fine if you don’t want to. But just know that if Miss Brooke tells me anything, I won’t be feeding you a spec of information." She huffed then made for the elevator.

Gilbert rolled his eyes. "As if that would arouse my interest. Foolish girl." He said, while he stormed over to the garden area, with just that in mind.

But no matter how much they tried to get the information out, Brooke just tossed around in bed, her pillow buried to her face, as she recalled how close Thane had gotten.

Whilst Thane played chess by himself into midnight, refusing to be disturbed. He didn’t even want a report on how things with Cassie had gone.

At midnight, when Thane was certain Brooke had fallen asleep, he retired to their bedroom, only to find her still very much awake, and in the middle of making a late night cup of tea.

"Couldn’t sleep?" He asked, rolling his sleeves up.

Brooke nodded, "It’s pretty cold tonight. Isn’t it?"

He raised a brow when he noticed she had two cups on the counter.

Brooke noticed his gaze and swiftly explained. "Y-You hadn’t come up yet..." she averted her eyes from his piercing gaze and continued stiring the cups. "So I figured I’d give you a little pick me up."

Thane reclined against the nearest wall and watched her for a bit.

"Also, you didn’t eat anything today because I made you uncomfortable." She said, her shoulders drooping.

"You did? When?"

She kept stirring, her heart pounding fast. She didn’t mean to bring it up, but she didn’t like when he didn’t talk to her.

She enjoyed his company, very much.

"Come on, even I can pick up on these things. You were just removing the dust from me, and...and...I-"

Thane cut sharply into her words. "Brooke," he sighed painfully, "I...I wasn’t wiping off dust." He confessed, his tone low and sensual.

Her hand froze. "What?" She laughed nervously, "Then was there dirt or something else-"

Thane took calculated steps towards her and leaned in, Brooke turned her head and their noses almost touched.

Capturing her gaze slowly confessed, "I was touching you. Brooke. As a man does to a woman he finds attractive."
