Chapter 476: 34. Complain

"Thump, thump, thump..."

After Ossie sporadically spilled her words, the whole room fell into a brief silence. Even Fisher, who was recording her external data, was momentarily unresponsive to what she had just said.

It wasn’t until Emhardt, who had originally been watching this play from behind a desk, could not bear it any longer and began repeatedly slamming his square face against the table that Fisher snapped out of his daze.

He glanced at Ossie on the bed, who was still obediently holding her parrot Steel Blade and calmly watching Fisher with a cute look on her face—one that was beloved by Nali Gentlemen but also mixed with the assertiveness of a Lady from the Sardinia Female Country—making her air quite complicated yet endearing.

Especially when Fisher’s gaze inadvertently landed on her cool shorts below her belly, he would often recall the enduring moans coming from the neighboring table that night at the restaurant; he would remember the smooth, slightly wet bird egg.

Academically speaking, Fisher was quite curious about how the Grey Bird Species reproduced; from a personal perspective, he was a Nali Gentleman who particularly liked ladies.

Following this line of thought, the heat that had just cooled within him began to emerge once again, but the discomfort it brought only lasted a few seconds. The next moment, Fisher opened his mouth, placed the pen he was holding across the notebook he was writing in, suppressing the surging desires as well.

He rubbed his temples, somewhat headache-strickenly asked Ossie,

"Love... Wait, Ossie, let’s first ask, do you know what it means to be in love with someone?"

Ossie lifted Steel Blade a bit more to her face, using its small head as a part of the cloak she originally used to hide her face, seemingly making her words flow smoother,

"Well, I might know... On the ship, I saw Alagina constantly looking at you, speaking intimately, and in the end... she even held your hand. Is that what love is? It feels different from talking, conversing with other crew members. I don’t know why, but seeing Alagina like that, it made me itch, and I also wanted to try..."

As she spoke, Ossie’s feet curled up tighter and tighter, as if a wild bird grasped the branches beneath. Fisher looked at her, somewhat amused and asked,

"Is this what you call being in love?"

"...Is it not?"

Ossie slowly sat up from the bed with Steel Blade, tilting her head along with the parrot in her arms to look at Fisher, posing the question.

Meeting that kind of gaze, Fisher did not immediately answer. Only after several seconds had passed did he seem to realize something, nodding his head, setting aside the paper and pen used for recording data,

"I see, then let’s give it a try..."

"Eh? Try... try what?"

"Holding hands."

Perhaps even Ossie hadn’t expected Fisher to agree so readily, seeming somewhat caught off guard. When Fisher actually stood up, she instinctively pulled her body closer to him.

Emhardt turned around with eyes widened, bearing an expression as if he couldn’t bear to watch—uncertain whether he was inwardly condemning Fisher’s despicable actions in his heart.

Alagina, oh Alagina, I was joking when I said I wouldn’t stand together with you... Look, you’ve just left, and this happened! Living under this guy’s roof, I’ve warned you to the point of righteousness; you better not blame me...

What Emhardt thought, Fisher was unaware of; all he did was gently extend his hand towards Ossie. As his palm descended and slowly stroked over Ossie’s feathers, her breathing also started to become rapid, reaching a peak when his hand stayed at the fold of her wing.

Ossie blinked, even she hadn’t expected that her feathers would tremble slightly under such a touch, twisting like adjusting wings during gliding.

Unlike what she had imagined, Ossie was very unaccustomed to such contact. The slightly erected feathers, seemingly always ready to support her flight, were proof, yet she still pursed her lips, silently enduring, allowing Fisher to continue stroking her wings.

Can you endure it?

Catching her reaction, Fisher intentionally stroked against the feathers higher up on the wing, moving closer to her body with his warm touch. The electrifying sensation finally made Ossie uncontrollably spread her wings wide.

"Whoosh!"

The Grey Bird Species’ massive wings made the already cramped room even more crowded. The cyan-blue tail feathers trembled wildly with the chilling wind she brought as her wings unfolded, a gust that shook Fisher’s hand off her body.

Behind, the unendurable Emhardt heard the commotion behind him, thinking it was greedy Fisher getting his just desserts, twisting his head around delightedly, only to see him nonchalantly pulling his hand back, leaving him utterly disappointed.
