Chapter 437 - 14. Valentina

Chapter 437: 14. Valentina

The Lion-man’s roar-like voice came, but it angered Pahetz to no end, and she cursed angrily,

"Go to hell, we are pirates, not beggars! I’m telling you, we’ve claimed this item, even pleading from your dad won’t work!"

"Hey, why talk like that, that’s really rude..."

The blonde lion-woman touched her chin and shook her head; her fluffy blonde hair had several strands braided into long braids with small round metal rings attached to them, clinking when she shook her head.

With her furless claw-like fingers, she propped up her chin and said to Fisher and his group with some regret.

At that moment, the man in the black robe standing next to Alagina suddenly, for some reason, painfully clutched his head. Alagina turned her head to see that white feathers were rapidly growing on his body and as the feathers grew wildly, he also let out a pained scream,

"You... you are not Phoenixes... you are thieves! You’ve stolen the swords of the Phoenixes! You damned traitors! Who is it?! The Grey Bird Species? Or that damned stinking cat?!"

While everyone’s attention was caught by the man’s strange condition, Fisher keenly noticed the man in red next to the Lion-man sneaking his hand into the chilling block of ice, trying to retrieve the scroll made of Ice. His hand bore a small translucent black tattoo, which helped his arm pass through the icy seal of the scroll.

Fisher’s face changed, and his Fluid Sword scattered like a whip as he charged towards the Lion-man, shouting to Alagina and the others,

"That man is trying to take the scroll!"

The Lion-man had a scheming smile and as Fisher charged, he grasped the Straight Blade behind him,

"Smart guy, but the guardians have been drained of life by the curse, regardless of whether the scroll is given to the real Phoenix or not, once the scroll leaves this place, they will instantly turn into crazy monsters... Worry about your partners instead of the scroll."

She stood up with her Straight Blade, fiercely meeting Fisher’s attack. Although she wasn’t as strong as Fisher, she wasn’t in a hurry to engage fully, and the two were just probing.

After hearing her words, Fisher turned his head, only to see countless crawling shadows and the man who had led them here beginning to tremble. The feathers were not only covering their bodies but were wildly expanding outward, horribly distorting their own flesh.

In Fisher’s soul enhanced by the Soul Completion Manual, their souls seemed to be contaminated by some strange entity, and next to their souls, Fisher faintly saw strings of tiny eyeballs scattered like galaxies watching over them...

Was that, the Spirit Realm?

The man in the black robe painfully clutched his head, and as the scroll was taken away, his consciousness seemed to clear up a bit, regaining his original self from the foggy sense of mission.

His face, constantly covered by the feathers, showed significant changes. In a field of darkness, he kept pointing towards the direction of the scroll, shouting,

"No... I remember now, I remember... No, you can’t take it away... The scroll must be given to the real Phoenix, ah!"

He painfully tried to maintain his sanity, but as the Lion-man had said, the curse of the scroll had completely enveloped him, just like the numerous horror-feathered creatures behind him that were about to rise...

At the brink of his consciousness, he seemed to finally see Alagina and the aura of the Ice Prince on her,

"If the scroll cannot be given to the real Phoenix, then it must be destroyed, otherwise, the sky..."

At the end of this sentence, his Northern Language was crushed into an unintelligible bird’s cry by the feathers in his throat. In the final moment, the man in the black robe burst open, turning into a monster mixed with feathers and flesh.

"Scream!"

The crawling shadows in the cave also all stood up, hissing at the group trying to take the scroll. Their bird calls carried a chilling coldness, and upon hearing it, everyone’s Magic Circuit lit up, obviously causing a certain degree of tremor to their souls.

"Everyone, prepare to fight!"

Alagina’s face grew cold, and the illusion of the Ice Prince instantly appeared in her hand, but just as it materialized, Alagina painfully retracted it.

The reason was simple, she was just injured by the true body of the Ice Prince, and continuing to use it would undoubtedly worsen her injury.

But next to her, Ossie had already circulated her wings beneath her body once, and when unfolded again, her feathers now bore numerous sharp blades.

And as the Lion-man saw the red-clothed man next to him successfully extracting the scroll from the ice, he slightly smiled and stepped back a distance,

"Now that the item is in our hands, we will take our leave for now..."

"Stop talking, let’s move, Philis."
