Chapter 405: 160. Unprecedented and Unmatched_2
Following her gaze, Fisher saw a breathtakingly beautiful woman abruptly enter his sight.
She was clad simply in a gown made from some strange seaweed fabric, the garment clinging lazily to the skin of the Sea Beast, damp with ocean water; and she herself, supporting her cheek with one hand indolently and without expression, silently watched Moli and Fisher who had just parted on the ship.
Her hair, a deep blue scattering like stars, fluttered without wind, accentuating the deep blue-black ocean in her eyes—within it, the tumultuous waves seemed to carry the faces of thousands of living creatures and flashes of thunder, presenting a contradictory image of majesty intertwined with kindness.
Her countenance was as stunning as a goddess’s, and behind her, the tail of a whale loomed large, with long ears hanging much like Moli’s, but at this moment, she wore a gold crown upon her forehead, unmarked at its center. Following the line of the crown upwards, even the very air above seemed to tremble intensely under her aura, and the vast ocean parted simply before her and the Sea Beast.
That was Moli’s mother, the Ocean Emperor, Xuan Can.
What particularly oppressed Fisher was that outside the Iceberg Queen, the ocean itself seemed so agitated that the heavens seemed to change color, yet all around was deathly silent—as if the voice of the ocean had been stripped from Fisher’s ears, and not a single person on the ship had awoken; it seemed like only Fisher and Moli were alive onboard, and Fisher entirely disbelieved that Xuan Can had no part in this.
Moreover, having just kissed her daughter in front of her, Fisher immediately felt awkward.
Involuntarily, he wanted to greet this legendary Ocean Emperor, who, after all, had existed even before the era of Fisher’s ancestors.
But how to address Xuan Can became a puzzling matter for Fisher; several potential titles flashed through his mind, and after a full second’s pause, he performed a gentlemanly bow to the woman in the ocean and added,
"Honored Ocean Emperor, I am Fisher, a human scholar, and it is a great honor to meet you."
"Ocean Emperor? That was a title my mother liked when she was younger..."
Moli covered her face, seeming a bit embarrassed for her mother. Had she known Fisher would call her mother the Ocean Emperor, she would never have told him...
Yet the distant woman merely blinked faintly without any response, instead, the corners of her lips curled up into a stunningly beautiful smile.
The next moment, she gently extended her hand, and the Sea Beast raised slightly again, revealing swathes of its skin like land on the ocean, forming a bridge connecting the Iceberg Queen with Xuan Can.
Moli bit her lips, turning to glance at Fisher, and finally, she said,
"I... I need to go home now, Fisher."
"Go on, take care."
"Yes, you too..."
After saying farewell to Fisher, Moli hesitated no longer; she leaped from the edge of the Iceberg Queen, landing on the head of the Companion Sea Beast, Fragrance Soul.
Though Moli was not heavy, the Sea Beast began to descend towards the sea floor, running towards Xuan Can as she landed on it.
The spreading currents gradually enveloped Moli, and the pitch-black curse on her lightened significantly. By the time she reached Xuan Can, they were almost completely submerged, and Moli took one last look at the quietly standing Iceberg Queen on the ocean surface,
"Mom, I’m back..."
"Mm."
"Whushh..."
Amidst a silent black night, with a woman’s "Mm", like thunder breaking the dead stillness above the sea, the sounds of the restless ocean finally forced their way back into Fisher’s ears.
The massive creature beneath the sea rapidly sank, pulling an indistinct shadow that soon disappeared from Fisher’s view.
The vanishing Sea Beast kicked up violent waves, rocking the Iceberg Queen intensely. Only then did several refreshed cries emerge from the cabins—it was Alagina’s crew waking up,
"Is there an enemy?"
Behind the Captain’s room, Alagina first pushed open Fisher’s door and, upon discovering his absence, hurriedly ran toward the deck. When she finally saw Fisher safe and sound standing beside the deck railing, she breathed a sigh of relief,
"You’re all right... What happened?"
Fisher glanced at the emerging Alagina, with her plump Chief Officer yawning in pajamas behind her, and even the Steel Blade Parrot had flown out. He smiled apologetically and then said,
"Sorry for waking you. Nothing happened, I was just seeing off my student back home..."
"Your student? That demi-human? Oh, thank Heaven, I thought a sea monster was attacking us..."
Pahetz leaned over the railing, peering into the pitch-black water below and found nothing. She turned back and smacked her lips, only to see the fat parrot also scrutinizing below,
"Look? Look at what, and the rest of you, go back to sleep! Nothing happened!"
"Chief Officer, it’s almost six thirty, still sleep?"
Hearing her crew’s reminder, Pahetz blinked and looked up toward the distant eastern horizon. Sure enough, at the end of the sea horizon, dazzling sunlight slowly spread across the ocean surface, until it enveloped the entire Iceberg Queen within its light.
