Chapter 329 - 134. Crown of the Destructive God

Chapter 329: 134. Crown of the Destructive God

"This waterway is probably the underground passage leading to Nali Lake. We’ll enter together once Moli comes back from scouting," Fisher said after reading the clues on the stone wall. He walked to the side of the cave pool, speaking to Anna beside him.

Moli had already gone ahead to scout, a precaution to avoid any unexpected dangers below.

Anna seemed fine, but Xiayat, looking at the bottomless water, turned pale. Their drenched horse trembled continuously, clearly terrified of the water.

"Ah, um, maybe... you guys go ahead, and I won’t follow?"

Fisher glanced at her and then pointed upwards towards the cavern’s eerie expanse. As Xiayat spoke, her words echoed repeatedly, resonating around them.

"There’s no way up here, only the underground river in front of us. Besides, who knows if that ghostly figure from earlier might come down here to find you..."

"What?!"

Hearing that the ghost might come for her, Xiayat immediately changed her stance, insisting on not being left behind.

"Don’t... I’ll just go into the water with you. I’m so cute; if a ghost takes me, it definitely won’t end well... sob."

Anna looked speechlessly at the centaur who shamelessly called herself cute. Anna’s clothes were still a bit damp, but she no longer felt as cold. She recalled their approximate location before entering the cave, then said to Fisher,

"We’re still far from Nali Lake. Even if we swim through the underground river, both I and... Xiayat can’t hold our breath for that long."

She knew Fisher and Moli could breathe underwater, though she didn’t know how the human managed it. Perhaps people have different constitutions? Or maybe he had some relic on him?

"Right, right, we might gloriously perish in the water before we even reach Nali Lake."

"...I’ll inscribe a Magic Emblem on you that will ensure you can breathe smoothly in the water."

Fisher had already planned to use magic to assist their underwater breathing when he proposed taking the underground river. A few years ago, at an exhibition by the Northern Magic Association in Saint Nali, Fisher had seen a design for a magic spell that temporarily allowed fishermen to breathe underwater.

He glanced at it back then and roughly remembered how to draw it. It would be just perfect for now.

"Come here, this magic needs to be placed on your bodies, ideally as close to the neck as possible."

He bowed his head and bit his own finger, signaling Anna to come over first. Her traditional Nali outfit became almost transparent upon touching water, allowing one to see her well-defined curves and the white underwear beneath.

Fisher didn’t look further. Anna, entirely unbothered, sat down in front of him, allowing him to carve the emblem on her back.

"The emblem engraving on a person will feel a bit prickly, just endure it."

"Mm."

Her response was very calm. When Fisher’s magic circuit lit up, his fingertip touching Anna’s skin suddenly became hot, but it wasn’t very painful; it was more of a sensation of a needle gently pricking the skin.

"Sizzle..."

Xiayat frowned as she watched the [Air]Ring Head magic being engraved into Anna’s skin with blood. She guessed it must be quite painful, yet Anna’s expression remained serene, seemingly feeling nothing.

While Xiayat observed Anna, her peripheral vision caught a glimpse of the lady’s figure through the nearly translucent Nali dress.

Anna’s figure was stunningly beautiful; her skin fair and her body graceful. At this moment, the damp clothing clinging to her added a fragile, delicate charm.

Even Xiayat, a centaur, had to admit that the lady named Anna was excessively beautiful. She squinted at the softness in front of Anna, then lowered her gaze to her own flat chest, suddenly at a loss for words.

"..."

Before, looking at Moli felt overwhelming, as Moli’s situation was quite unique. But now, it seemed her own standards were far below average!

As Xiayat watched enviously, she suddenly noticed a small red mole on the pale chest in front of Anna, which only enhanced her allure...

Centaur Xiayat, utterly defeated for the second time.

Indeed, in the face of sensuality, her cuteness held no advantage.

"Okay, Xiayat, your turn."

Ignoring Xiayat’s somewhat resentful gaze, Fisher focused solely on engraving the Magic Emblem. It was good that his memory served him well; the magic he had seen only once a few years ago was now successfully engraved on the first attempt.

Anna’s back glowed with a bright white emblem flickering with the radiance of "Air" as Fisher repeated the process once Xiayat arrived.

As he was engraving the magic, Moli also slowly surfaced from the nearby pond. Pointing excitedly beneath the water at Fisher et al., she said,

"There’s definitely a channel leading to the lake ahead, probably a ten-minute swim, and there’s a lot of stuff left by our predecessor down there, I’ll take you to see it!"

Given the swimming speed of the whale-man species, that ten minutes wouldn’t be a short distance.

"The time is enough, the magic can last for more than an hour."

Once the magic on Xiayat’s back was complete, Fisher snapped his fingers, and the magic emblem suddenly lit up, sucking in the surrounding air like a whirlpool and forming an indiscernible protective barrier over their heads.

This protective barrier continuously drew air from the surroundings, maintaining its effect even underwater; it was the first-prize winner of the emerging magic design competition held by the World Magic Association in the Northern Realm.

Curious, Anna poked at the air shield on her face only to find it extremely sturdy and impermeable, while Xiayat plunged her head into the pond to observe the underwater through the clear air shield,

"I can really breathe underwater, magic is truly amazing..."

"There’s even more amazing things here,"

Moli, who had submerged into the water unnoticed, grinned at Xiayat and tapped on the stone wall beneath the pond. It awakened slowly, spreading glowing arrows across the sea floor amid whale-man script on each side,

"These are signs left by that predecessor... that side is the ocean, this way leads to the lake, he passed through this channel many times before."

Underwater, Moli’s beautiful blue hair floated up, and she hovered in the water, gesturing for Xiayat to hurry down.

Moli and Fisher took one each to guide; Moli, swimming faster, took the heavier Xiayat, while Fisher accompanied Anna.

Fisher also dove in, becoming ever more accustomed to breathing underwater with these few dives; entering the water now felt as comfortable as coming home.

Anna carefully entered the water, holding Fisher’s hand, while Xiayat’s hooves continually thrashed, clearly still feeling uncomfortable. Understandingly, Moli took her hands, helping her gradually adapt to the sensation of being in water.

Moli’s massive whale tail flicked slightly, and like an elf, she spun in the water and then, with a calmer Xiayat, swam toward a certain direction deeper into the pond.

They followed the fluorescent-lit waterway downstream. Along the stone path, Fisher finally noticed some traces of human presence—a massive, oval-shaped room carved out as a living space, filled with golden furniture, presumably the things Moli mentioned left by the predecessor.

She excitedly gestured around the furniture and items in the cave, introducing them as if showing off her boudoir in the sea trench,

"Fisher, this is roughly what a whale-man species’ underwater home looks like. This whale-man predecessor lived here for a long time, which is why there are so many signs left."

Moli pointed at the golden furniture shining in the darkness. The furniture’s designs were bizarre, made entirely of gold. Gold was abundant among the whale-man species, as Moli stated—it was far more abundant than in the goblins’ caves, hence their luxury in crafting furniture and armor from gold.

In a corner, Fisher noticed a golden helmet resembling a crown and a deformed golden armor densely engraved with fork-shaped symbols. The forks’ corners sometimes bore dots,

"The crosses on this armor represent enemies its wearer has defeated; each enemy is marked with a cross, the dots symbolize the type of enemy. No dots signify our own kind, dots on the left represent alien intelligent beings, and on the right, sea beasts..."

"What does this symbol mean?"

Fisher held up the shattered crown, its center faintly carved with a cross shape enclosed by a small circle.

"Eh, this... I don’t recognize it either."

Moli looked troubled at the symbol on the brow, momentarily unable to clarify what it represented.

Just then, an array of ghostly text appeared before Fisher—emblematic marks from the "Demi-human Girls Completion Manual,"

[You have discovered an ancient clue of the whale-man species·II]

[Would you like to read this clue for progress in the social research of whale-man species?]

Hmm? New mischief from the demi-human girl?

Holding the crushed crown, Fisher silently muttered "Yes" in his mind, and the next moment, countless ghostly texts spiraled out,

[Ancient clue of the whale-man species·II: Crown of the Destructive God]

[Clue Content: This crown, worn by the invincible whale-man species across ocean and land, has an unknown origin as it is too damaged for identification. It is rumored that its prideful wearer once challenged a god to a duel, the outcome of which remains unknown to this day.]

[Recorders’ Remark: Why does such a violent Destructive God appear among a group of endearing killer whales? It’s rather mind-boggling...]
