Chapter 293: 122. Liquidation Operation
A bit later, as it was nearing dusk and the lights had been turned on in front of the Healing Room, Fisher slowly drove his carriage, following the one in front of him toward the parking area.
Fisher had already cleaned himself and changed into a new suit; he was fully prepared for the battle that awaited him tonight.
Carriages indeed have some inconveniences, as was the case right now.
When one carriage gets too close to another, it becomes especially hard to maneuver, not to mention that the horses, having stood for too long, would leave fresh excrement on the road, forcing those driving behind to cover their noses and mouths in discomfort.
The powerful and influential sat within their carriages, straightening their suits upon arrival before stepping out and into the venue; if they had no coachmen, at the very least, staff from the Healing Room would help move the carriages to the adjacent parking area.
However, since his carriage held an Ocean Subhuman, Fisher decided to drive to the parking area himself.
At this moment, Fisher donned a quite handsome dark brown suit with a gentleman’s hat still atop his head, his magical Handcane engraved with intricate Magic lying beside him.
"Moli, I’ll have to entrust the Handcane to you."
"Eh?"
"Tonight’s event is quite upscale, with people from the Golden Palace attending, and I’ve already seen Mages detecting magic fluctuations at the entrance..."
As Fisher drove his carriage behind the vehicle in front, he handed all of his Magic Poker and Handcane to Moli inside the carriage, surveyed his surroundings, and then ascertained the distance from the parking area to the Healing Room.
He had intended to bring the "Veil of the Face Changer," but considering that he’d need to fight, he decided against bringing that item that continuously sapped his Magic Power. It seemed like the right decision because it emanates a faint magic fluctuation when activated, which could have been detected by those checking for magic at the entrance.
Now, the best timing would be to wait for Dexter to make his move, then allow Moli to enter the inner parts of the Healing Room while he searched for the entrance to the "Interiors." By then, even if their people reacted, they wouldn’t be able to catch up.
After instructing Moli with a few words, Fisher turned to lock the carriage door, leaving Moli inside, silently holding Fisher’s items and listening to his footsteps slowly fade away.
Fisher retrieved Keken’s invitation from Bai Cui Bank from his bosom and joined the queue behind several gentlemen. He tipped his gentleman’s hat lower, observing the line of people in front of him. Those accompanying Fisher were the guests at the end of the queue.
At the front, members of the Royal Family, Bai Cui Bank officials, and wealthy businessmen had already entered the queue. New money from Saint Nali and opportunistic gentlemen, like Fisher, all stood in the last positions. Fisher didn’t know many people there and wasn’t concerned that anyone would suddenly call out his name.
"May I see your invitation, please?"
At the entrance to the Healing Room, an old man with a monocle greeted Fisher with a bow, and behind him stood a muscular guard. Kachina, having greeted the two most esteemed groups of guests, had already left.
Fisher’s gaze under his hat briefly assessed the two men before him. Oddly enough, his intuition told him that these two gave him a very strange feeling - indescribable yet peculiar.
He handed out his invitation, which the monocled old man squinted at for a long time before looking up at Fisher,
"Welcome to tonight’s banquet. Please step forward for a magic fluctuation check to ensure no guests bring any extremely dangerous Magic Items. As you know, the guests’ status and identity tonight are not ordinary..."
"I understand."
Fisher walked past the two checking invitations at the entrance and came before the black-robed men performing the magic fluctuation checks, waiting for them to use their device on him. However, his attention remained fixated on the two men he had just passed.
Perhaps it was an illusion, but under the streetlight’s glow at night, he thought he saw tiny flesh-like buds wriggling on the back of the old man’s neck. Just as he tried to take a closer look, he noticed the muscular guard was staring intently at him...
Fisher calmly diverted his gaze, pretending nothing had happened. After the magic check was completed, he thanked the staff and slowly walked into the Healing Room’s venue.
Behind him, the muscular man’s hawk-like gaze continued to follow Fisher until he had completely disappeared from view without wavering.
"Kraken, take this guest to Bai Cui... huh, where did he go?"
The next second, when the monocled old man encountered a slight hiccup in his checking duties and turned to call for his companion, he found the muscular guard had vanished.
He gaped, scanning the surroundings to no avail, and had to instruct another staff member to assist the guest.
...
...
Fisher quickened his pace. The banquet area was half open-air, half indoors - the indoor portion being the Surface of the Healing Room. However, since the Prince and businessmen were all inside socializing, the later-arriving gentlemen were desperately trying to squeeze in as well. Fisher arched an eyebrow at the "human blockade" at the door but took no hasty action.
