Chapter 279: 116. The Mystery of the Centaur_2
Moli, a dominant-level creature who could live in fresh water, salt water, and even on land, was something Fisher had never seen before.
"Please, please teach me a lot, my name is Moli."
"Ah, my name is Xiayat, no need to be so polite."
Xiayat was amused by Moli’s cute, reserved demeanor and smiled warmly at her, making Moli blush and relax quite a bit.
Fisher, standing to the side, didn’t go into too much detail, simply telling Xiayat that he and Moli were training in deep mountain combat, which might come in handy later.
Xiayat nodded when she heard this, not asking further, just continuing to process the pork.
In no time, Xiayat had butchered a whole pig into market-style raw cuts with swift movements; she also planned to marinate the raw meat in spices, saying it would enhance the flavor when grilled.
Fisher Benavides watched Xiayat’s entire process, as if he were looking at a book of magic, feeling that her cooking was bound to taste much better than his. All he could do was help Xiayat start a fire.
"Pork’s coming up!"
Before long, Xiayat had the sliced wild boar on the Flames, proudly saying to Fisher and company,
"Just wait and you’ll taste the skills of the best cook in the Centaur Tribe, watch closely."
She rotated the skewered pork on the grill with fluid movements. Fisher was quiet, but Moli couldn’t stop salivating over the sizzling pork, her eyes stuck on it, constantly questioning Xiayat with her gaze, "When can we eat?"
Seeing Moli eagerly watching her grill, Xiayat gave her the first finished portion to eat.
"Hmm, it’s about ready to eat, Moli, this one’s for you."
"Ah, thank you!"
Xiayat handed the largest piece to Moli and then took another piece for Fisher. He tasted it and found the seasoning, a specialty of the South Continent, delicious but rather strong, and it would take some getting used to.
Understanding Xiayat had gone easy on the spices, so Fisher found it very tasty.
"By the way, Fisher, can you treat illnesses? I’ve been feeling unwell after spending a long time on the Western Continent..."
While eating, Xiayat suddenly put down her bone, washed her hands in the creek, and asked Fisher.
The fire flickered gently as Xiayat knelt on the ground, her four hooves revealed because of her sitting posture, but she was still wearing a tight robe over her equine body.
"Where do you feel uncomfortable? I don’t know much about Centaur Sub-humans, but I can take a look."
Fisher put down his food and walked over to Xiayat’s side.
Moli, still eating her meat, watched Fisher walk toward the smiling, kneeling Xiayat, noticing the wild beauty in the lady Centaur’s toned figure and the slight lift of her horse tail.
Moli’s ears flicked alertly, then her cheeks puffed up; she quickly finished her own food and silently followed behind Fisher, watching his every move.
Fisher turned around to see Moli following him, her expression unreadable, just "staring" at his fingers and movements—is there a sense of surveillance here?
He looked back at Xiayat with a rueful smile, and Xiayat pointed to her belly, saying worriedly,
"I’ve been feeling abdominal discomfort lately, along with an unusual fatigue. Could it be because I haven’t been exercising enough? My whole body feels uncomfortable when I move these past few days..."
Without directly touching her, Fisher used his luminous Handcane to gently touch her body, and the next second, a faint glow spread along her body, illuminating her Magic Circuit and various organs.
When checking Rafael’s body in the South Continent, Fisher had used this method to clearly see the biological structures inside the body.
Now, Fisher was for the first time gaining a clear understanding of the Centaur’s physiological structure.
Centaurs had two distinct body parts: the Human-like upper half and the equine lower half. The organs in their upper halves were quite different from Humans’; both their reproductive and urinary systems were located in the equine lower half, making their upper half seem somewhat hollow.
Moreover, Centaurs had two hearts, both undertaking the demands of movement and blood supply, as normal galloping and physical activity placed significant strain on them, resulting in this adaptation.
When not active, the heart in the upper half beats normally, while the other in the lower half slows down. Once they become active, both hearts go into overdrive, much like the core of a steam engine, providing explosive energy for movement, and indeed, their body structure is well-suited for running.
From the glow returning through the Handcane, it appeared that the heart in her horsey body was beating irregularly, like it was suddenly activated but not fully adjusted, similar to how a Human who hasn’t exercised for a long time would feel very uncomfortable doing so suddenly, experiencing a sense of unfitness.
