Chapter 253: 107. Background Music

Tuesday evening, the same day Fisher had arranged to meet Anna, Fisher checked the time and, after having dinner with Moli, prepared to go alone to Miao Cemetery to meet Anna. He left his rental and took a carriage to the secluded cemetery, arriving just around eight o’clock.

However, before Fisher could even leave his house, someone knocked on his door.

By now, Mrs. Martha was no longer surprised by visitors, even if it were Royal Soldiers looking for Fisher—it was well-known in Saint Nali that Fisher Benavides was a prominent figure.

Oh, except to the ladies of Saint Nali; otherwise, he might have been married by now.

"Who is it?"

Lady Martha opened the door, only to find a Royal Soldier dressed in a white uniform, wearing a high hat bearing a pale golden Three-Ring Emblem, standing at the doorway.

Seeing Mrs. Martha, the soldier respectfully bowed and said,

"Good evening, is Mr. Fisher Benavides at home? Princess Elizabeth summons him..."

What? Princess Elizabeth?

Lady Martha’s mouth fell open, and after a brief moment of comprehension, she hastily adjusted her reading glasses and nodded,

"Oh, yes, he’s here. I will go call him down right away."

My goodness, why didn’t Fisher tell me he was in contact with the princess?

After all, this was the first time Elizabeth had sent someone directly to Fisher’s rental to summon him; previously, it had either been by letter or coincidental meetings—always very indirect.

Hearing that the princess had sent a message, Lady Martha, trembling slightly, hurried upstairs to call Fisher.

Moli was still in the room. Fisher, after responding, changed his clothes and instructed Moli to keep her identity secret before he descended the stairs.

Unsure of what Elizabeth wanted now, it was a convenient time to discuss Anna’s matter with Elizabeth, although he worried that the princess’s invitation might make him late.

Anna had set the meeting for eight o’clock, and it was just past seven, so if the conversation was brief, he should make it on time.

A carriage awaited behind the soldier, but Elizabeth was not there; she seemed to be waiting somewhere else.

Once Fisher, taking his Handcane, boarded the carriage, it began to move slowly, taking a different direction down the street.

After about fifteen minutes, Fisher’s carriage arrived at the front of a tranquil café named "Aromatic Cafe."

Fisher had patronized this café many times before because the owner, Stuna, was his classmate at the Royal College.

After graduating, the lady, who loved coffee, saved some money and started her business in the city center, opening a high-end café catering to young lords and ladies who favored premium coffee products, winning over some coffee lovers and ladies. The café’s ambiance was exquisite, quite thoughtful compared to other establishments.

It must be said, compared to Trandell, her business acumen was significantly better. That fool—whose fortune was many times larger than Stuna’s—managed stables that would have failed if Fisher had not rented them.

When Fisher arrived, the café’s main door was closed, and a "Closed for Today" sign hung outside.

However, there were several Royal waiters standing at the door. Seeing Fisher arrive, they bowed slightly and gently opened the door, releasing the sound of classical music and the sight of the elegant interior.

At a round table by the window sat three ladies; one, with her back towards the main entrance, was dressed in an elegant Nali gown and golden hair combed back casually while enjoying a drink nearby—it was none other than Princess Elizabeth.

The other two young ladies in front of her seemed concerned, glancing towards the door now and then. Seeing Fisher approach the café, their expressions subtly changed, a mix of joy and anxiety apparent—it was Isabella and Milica, his classmates.

Fisher just glanced and understood why Elizabeth had summoned him today.

He approached the table by the window. Isabella and Milica sat together, making it clear that his seat was next to Elizabeth.

Elizabeth looked towards Fisher as he approached, a spot by her side already available, and simply reached out her hand calling,

"Stuna, a cup of honey milk, no extra sugar..."

At the bar, a lady dressed as a male waiter nodded with a smile and started preparing the milk.

Once Fisher was seated, Elizabeth blinked and said,

"Better not drink coffee tonight; it might keep you awake."

The two young ladies, seeing Fisher sit next to Elizabeth, greeted him and seemed eager to speak but first glanced at Princess Elizabeth, waiting for her to begin.

Elizabeth didn’t hesitate, smiling as she spoke,

"Isabella and Milica said that after returning to school from vacation, their roommate had disappeared. The school officially reported she was a demi-human who had sneaked in... That classmate’s name is Moli, right? They are quite worried about Moli. Hearing that you also resigned, they wanted to ask about the situation that night."
