Chapter 249 - 105. Ocean Emperor

Chapter 249: 105. Ocean Emperor

According to his plan, Mr. Fischer intended to stay in the rental to prepare the next day.

Last night, Mr. Fischer slept in the bed while Moli slept on the sofa; Moli woke up early, while Mr. Fischer was to wake up a bit later.

By the time Mr. Fischer opened his eyes, she was already awake, but she didn’t get up until he did. As he sat up in bed, he found her lying gently on the sofa, her hands placed on her abdomen, gazing at the ceiling.

Her blue hair spread out over the sofa, with a few strands touching the ground. The whale-man’s tail hung slack from the side of the sofa, giving her an utterly serene and docile look.

Above all, her clean, makeup-free beautiful face was the most eye-catching, pristine and endearing like a jasmine blooming in the sea.

Seeing Mr. Fischer awake, she blinked her eyes innocently, smiled without moving, and said,

"Good morning, Mr. Fischer..."

"...Good morning."

Mr. Fischer rubbed the space between his eyebrows. He hadn’t rested a day since Moli was attacked the previous night, and even after sleeping now, he felt even more exhausted than if he hadn’t rested. Mr. Fischer had experienced this feeling before, which reinforced that he really should minimize pulling all-nighters.

According to today’s schedule, Mr. Fischer still had to stay in the home to prepare items. As soon as he was up, he tirelessly continued with the engraving magic at his workstation.

Of course, Mr. Fischer didn’t immerse himself in engraving magic the whole day.

At noon, while Lady Martha went out to shop, he went to the street-side restaurant to bring back roast chicken for Moli, who hadn’t had enough from the meager breakfast. Recognizing her still-hungry gaze, he allowed her to eat her fill at noon.

The whale-man’s appetite was astonishing, and ordinary people couldn’t afford their food costs, which was soon clear to Mr. Fischer.

He finally understood why Moli sincerely said "Thank you, Mr. Fischer, for providing me with food" before eating.

By the evening, the box of magic materials he’d dragged back was nearly depleted, and the workbench now held a small stack of poker cards twinkling faintly.

Mr. Fischer was quite satisfied with the effects of the poker cards after he verified them and neatly stored them away.

With that, the preparations were about halfway complete, the remaining tasks...

Mr. Fischer turned to look at the fabric on the table, ready to start work on making clothes for Moli.

...

...

"Alright, come and try this on."

"Yes... yes!"

By the time Lady Martha was nearly asleep, Mr. Fischer had satisfactorily finished making a white dress and brought it to the room.

When he returned, Moli had already arranged all the relics left by Mu Xi on the table for Mr. Fischer to study later. Currently, she was still wearing Mr. Fischer’s white shirt, her slender white legs exposed, which made her look oddly enticing enough to spark the advance of any man.

Although the dresses Mr. Fischer made for Rafael and Moli were not richly decorated or expensive, they were at least fashionable, and should be comfortable to wear.

Mr. Fischer was quite confident about this.

"Thank you, Mr. Fischer, for providing me with clothing..."

Moli had a habit of expressing gratitude, so she would utter such phrases that were rare to hear in the human world after receiving something.

Her ears fluttered and her eyes sparkled as she took the dress from Mr. Fischer’s hands and then stealthily glanced at him before scurrying to the washroom to change.

Mr. Fischer loosened his body and took a sip of water, didn’t wait long, and then Moli peeked out from the washroom.

Her large eyes blinked as if worried that Mr. Fischer’s clothes didn’t fit her, prompting him to ask,

"Is it not fitting well?"

Moli hurriedly shook her head, her cheeks flushed as she pressed her lips together, looked at the floor in front of the washroom door, and struggled for a while before softly saying,

"I just feel... a bit shy..."

"Shy?"

Mr. Fischer asked with curiosity, still watching Moli, who kept her body hidden in the washroom, hesitant to come out.

"I made the clothes according to your measurements, or is there something you’re not accustomed to?" she stammered carefully, glancing at Mr. Fischer,

"I just feel like... the clothes Mr. Fischer made are so beautiful... and me wearing them... might be a bit too wasteful?"

Mr. Fischer paused for a second, then asked her to step out of the washroom so he could see for himself.

Grasping the doorframe, Moli slowly walked out of the bathroom, revealing her complete appearance.

The soft white fabric clung to her body perfectly without being too tight, and beneath the tender hem, her signature whale-man tail had room to extend. The loose folds of the dress showcased her beautiful figure like a petticoat.

She delicately pinched her dress, her cheeks slightly flushed as she looked at Mr. Fischer. Seeming overly nervous, she then reached up to tuck some stray hairs behind her ear.

There she was, a whale-man race, akin to an ocean princess, whose simple dress still accentuated her beauty.

Mr. Fischer gazed at her with satisfaction and then naturally shifted his gaze away, complimenting,

"Very beautiful, Moli."

Moli’s cherry-colored cheeks deepened, her ears on both sides of her face fluttered slightly, and her lips pursed into a small, reluctant smile, revealing her happiness at being praised.

"Thank you, Mr. Fischer. I really like the dress, and I will cherish it."

"You need not be so formal."

Fischer recalled the first time he had given Rafael a dress. She had worn it awkwardly, always fussing and pulling at the fabric, but fortunately, the dress had stayed with them until their separation.

However, in the days that followed, Rafael’s life was likely not peaceful, and that dress probably did not have a natural end.

"By the way, your letter arrived at the Golden Palace. You signed it as ’Son of the Sea,’ right?"

Moli sat next to Mr. Fischer on the couch, her large whale tail extending from behind her toward him, coming close but gently enclosing him within its span.

Under the faint jasmine fragrance, she nodded her chin and said,

"Yes... but I don’t know where the letter was sent. It was my mother’s blood-based Tracking Magic that carried the letter away."

"Your mother knows Magic?"

If the Whale-man Species had some understanding of magic, Moli shouldn’t seem so unfamiliar with it, and Mr. Fischer speculated that her mother held a high position.

"My mother doesn’t, actually. The Magic was given by a Human who borrowed a relic from my mother. Before leaving, he said he had cast the Pointing Magic with his own blood, claiming its effect would last forever, which would make it easier for my mother to reclaim her relic. But if it were Isabella’s family who borrowed the relic, why haven’t I heard her mention it?"

Who could know that?

Mr. Fischer thought for a moment. The most likely candidate who might have borrowed her mother’s relic was Prince Dexter.

But that matter would be best pursued later by the New Party for more intelligence. It was not something Mr. Fischer should focus on now. After Moli delivered the letter, it was done. The official return of the relic was not scheduled until next year.

"So, why do you refer to yourself as the ’Son of the Sea’?"

Previously, when Mr. Fischer researched Moli, he found out she had arrived at Saint Nali University as a mid-year enrollee from the expanded intake, meaning she had only entered human society a few months ago and was not very familiar with many human affairs. Coupled with her naturally shy and socially anxious nature, her few sources of information were mainly Milica and Isabella.

She went to the Magic Market for the first time with him in Saint Nali’s downtown area.

Prince Dexter and the New Party probably deduced from this unusual self-proclamation that the person who sent the letter might be a demi-human.

More crucially, this self-proclamation also indicated that Moli was the very Doomsday they were searching for.

It was easier to search for the "Red Dragon Queen" and the "Mysterious Sea Child" due to their distinct characteristics, but only the "Undead Witch" was troublesome to find, all thanks to a certain deceitful woman who loved to spin tales but never spoke truthfully.

"Ah... that..."

As soon as she was asked about this, Moli’s gaze began to waver, and she said somewhat embarrassedly,

"Because my mother... she was chosen by Lord Ramasitia. Her duty was to maintain the balance of life in the ocean. And then... when she was young, she was very... um, lively, and liked to use her self-proclaimed title to all Ocean Species, which was ’Ocean Emperor’..."

Talking about her mother’s embarrassing past, Moli’s face grew redder, and her head buried lower.

Ocean Emperor?

Mr. Fischer was somewhat familiar with that term. Wasn’t that the boastful title used by Lingna the first time she introduced herself?

So, there was a real basis for it?

Mr. Fischer had thought only cheeky kids like Lingna would claim such a title, but it turned out to be Moli’s mother’s youthful self-proclamation.

He could hardly imagine Moli’s mother traveling everywhere in her youth, loudly proclaiming herself as the Ocean Emperor, leaving behind long-standing legends wherever she went.

Watching Mr. Fischer’s expression, struggling to comment on the abstract story, Moli puffed up her cheeks and lightly tapped his shoulder with her hand. The touch was so gentle it felt like a breeze brushing against him.

But this was the first time she made such a bold and intimate gesture. Mr. Fischer looked at her in slight surprise, seeing her face turn entirely red.

Moli belatedly realized she had made an overly intimate gesture and quickly turned her head towards her skirt hem, whispering softly,

"Sorry..."

"...It’s okay."

Moli’s ears fluttered again, and after a while, she continued,

"My mother used to call me ’Son of the Sea’ in her letters long ago, and she specifically asked me to make clear that the letter was from the ’Son of the Sea,’ possibly wanting that Human to know about her current situation. Before, she also asked about that Human’s situation in her letters, so... she must have had a good relationship, possibly friendship, with the person who borrowed the relic."

"Friendship? Your mother only met him once, right?"

"Yes, but if it wasn’t a life form she favored, my mother would never lend her personal relics; she doesn’t like others touching her belongings."

"I see..."

Hearing Moli’s words, Mr. Fischer nodded. However, he found it hard to picture a good relationship between Prince Dexter and Moli’s mother. Perhaps someone else had borrowed the relic, or maybe Moli’s mother had been deceived by the Human, whose true nature was not as it seemed.

Unable to find the answer for the moment, Mr. Fischer temporarily shifted his gaze to the items left by Mu Xi on the table, trying to find more clues on them.
