Chapter 213: 92. Sender: Son of the Sea

When Fisher returned to his rented apartment by carriage, it was nearly evening. He didn’t see Trandell at the doorstep, so he took out his keys, pushed open the door, and entered the room, indeed spotting Trandell clad in a suit with his blond hair slicked back in the living room.

It had been a while since they had last seen each other, and Trandell had grown some stubble on his face, but his complexion wasn’t as pale as before, restoring some of the young man’s original vigor.

This period, because of matters related to the New Party, had pulled her out of the abyss within the Pink Hall... in a moment.

Lady Martha, trembling with frailty, emerged from the kitchen. Upon seeing Fisher, she walked over joyfully and hugged him, saying,

"Thank God, I heard that Saint Nali University was attacked by a cult, I was very worried about you. I wanted to call your office, but transferring the call would have been too troublesome..."

"I’m alright... Did you make dinner? I smell fried fish."

"Ha, I knew you’d love this. I’ve prepared a portion for you and your friend. You can take it upstairs and enjoy it later."

Martha glanced at Trandell, who was seated on the couch. He smiled back at her.

After waiting in the living room for a while, once two plates of fragrant fried fish were ready, Fisher carried the fish while Trandell followed him upstairs, holding a bottle of Black Mamba Wine.

"I also heard about the attack on Saint Nali University. Those damn cultists are truly insane, daring to offend both Schwali and Nali at the same time. It seems they are tired of living..."

Trandell spoke indignantly. Fisher didn’t reveal the truth behind the incident and simply entered the room with the fish. As Fisher handed him a fork, Trandell took two wine glasses, poured some wine especially for Fisher and came over grinning.

Looking at the dark liquid swaying in the glass, Fisher glanced at him, cut open the fried fish,

"What brings you here today?"

Trandell placed the poured wine glass in front of Fisher, then rubbed his hands together and said with an awkward laugh.

"Well, isn’t it because I’m worried about your safety? Friends were attacked, shouldn’t I ask? Come, have a drink."

"If you were just worried about my safety, a phone call would have sufficed. You coming all the way here, and specifically bringing drinks, means there’s either something you want to ask me or some trouble you need my help with... Otherwise, with such great weather, you would have been wasting your already scant energy at the Pink Hall."

Fisher pointed with his fork at the sweat breaking out on Trandell’s forehead. Seeing that he hadn’t even managed to groom his stubble, Fisher knew that recent days must have been rough for him.

At the mention of "Pink Hall," Trandell felt uncomfortable, as if he had swallowed a fly, and paused for a long time before continuing,

"Don’t mention the Pink Hall... Recently things are tense, I don’t know who leaked the records of New Party officials visiting the Pink Hall. The Pink Hall itself should not keep records, transactions are supposed to be destroyed right after completion..."

"What’s so impossible about that? They need to balance their books and organize income too. It’s possible that someone inside might speak carelessly, or accidentally let something slip."

"You might not want to say that. If it were so, how could the Pink Hall continue operating? Unless someone else is deliberately paying attention, wanting to target us in the New Party..."

As Fisher ate the fish, he tapped his fingers on the table, then asked,

"So who do you suspect leaked it?"

"I suspect it’s the Griffin Party! Those bastards, they also frequent the Pink Hall. We even took photos of them at the Pink Hall as leverage, but it’s outrageous that they dared to bite back at us!"

Fisher shook his head after hearing this. He found it unlikely that the Griffin Party had actively obtained the evidence. From any angle, it didn’t seem plausible.

Both the Griffin Party and the New Party frequented the Pink Hall. If the Griffin Party could obtain information from a third party, there’s no reason the New Party couldn’t.

Unless the Griffin Party had a backchannel with the Pink Hall...

Or was someone intentionally revealing the New Party’s expenditure evidence to the Griffin Party?

"So then, since you have photos of the Griffin Party at the Pink Hall, why not show them to the Royal Family or the Head of the Council in parliament, then let the two sides fight like dogs, isn’t that a common play in the Council?"

Fisher sipped his wine, his tone ironic,

"How does the saying go, ’Even if I am wrong, I’ll drag another guilty child down with me’? A favorite tactic of children at the Saint Nali Nursery, yet you all are still playing it."

Trandell, aware of his own faction’s situation, didn’t argue but instead exclaimed,

"The problem lies here... It’s no longer just a matter between the Griffin Party and the New Party. Prince Dexter from the Golden Palace unscrupulously pulls strings unrighteously, shamelessly calling for the establishment of an inquiry commission. Losing the support of the Golden Palace, this becomes two against one! Though this midterm election may not face issues, what about later? The next election, the subsequent legislation, those will pose real problems!"

Drinking his wine, Fisher’s expression remained unchanged, yet his eyes flickered slightly.

Now the issue was that Prince Dexter had long harbored thoughts of drawing his sword against the New Party, now seizing this opportunity to join forces with the Griffin Party to beat the New Party while down. If this inquiry led by the Golden Palace found any issues, it would hang over the New Party’s head like a sword.
