Chapter 176: 77. Deadlock Situation

"Archbishop Casheo’s Silver Mirror?"

Mr. Fisher had never heard of such a magical item before, and he walked over to the silver mirror with great curiosity. He watched as ripples slowly emanated across the silvery surface, resembling waves on a lake.

The elderly Schwali Scholar beside him smiled and said to the accompanying Kado Church personnel,

"Father Deke, please demonstrate the function of this mirror to Mr. Fisher."

Mr. Fisher stepped back to give space to several Church personnel from Kado who approached the small mirror. An old man at the front extended a finger towards the tiny mirror without touching it, and the ripples on the surface intensified with the movements of the Kado priest.

Moli, standing behind Mr. Fisher, watched the small mirror with curiosity. In the next second, the mirror’s surface began to change shape, and a Ring Head symbolizing "Air" quickly appeared within Mr. Fisher’s line of sight. The symbol was not merely an ordinary pattern; it flickered with light, clearly infused with magic power.

This mirror really was "engraving magic" like a human!

Mr. Fisher observed the small mirror until a complete magic spell appeared before his eyes. He recognized the engraved magic as a Middle Ages version of Three-Ring Magic called "Little Tornado."

"Magic from the Middle Ages?"

Mr. Fisher looked at the Church personnel from Kado beside him. The man nodded and explained in the Nali Language, which he spoke a bit hesitantly,

"This Silver Mirror was excavated from the tomb of Archbishop Casheo as a burial companion. After committing taboo against the Church and fleeing to parts unknown, it wasn’t until his death that we discovered the location of his tomb and retrieved all the items he had stolen from the Church."

"This Silver Mirror is not an item of our Church, but the work of Casheo himself."

The work of Casheo?

Mr. Fisher had heard of Casheo, apparently a famous defector in the history of Kado, having once been a Cardinal of the Holy Church. No one had expected the Archbishop, just one step away from the Pope, to defect and flee the Holy Church.

As a Nali person, Mr. Fisher had only a cursory understanding of Kado’s history and had merely heard the name.

Just a while ago, Mr. Fisher found the Silver Mirror quite puzzling, but after listening to the explanation from the Kado Church, his curiosity was piqued as to how Casheo had managed to create a "relic."

As Mr. Fisher had previously mentioned, the methods for creating relics had been lost long ago, and no one knew how these items, filled with wondrous effects, had been transformed from magic materials into what they were today.

"May I examine this mirror closely?"

The elderly Schwali Scholar glanced at the people from Kado, and only after receiving a nod did he say to Mr. Fisher,

"Please go ahead, Mr. Fisher."

Mr. Fisher approached the mirror and saw that the reflective surface seemed to be made of silver, but the frame was made from some black metal, giving the whole mirror an eerie and sinister appearance.

He examined the engraved Magic Emblem, which was a version unimproved since the Middle Ages. The Magic Power within it was pure, and although not abundant, it was undoubtedly real—moreover, it seemed to belong to a human?

This phenomenon caught Mr. Fisher’s attention. He did not suspect that the Schwali and Kado people had colluded in a hoax, perhaps secretly casting magic from elsewhere.

If the people of Schwali used such underhand tactics and were discovered, it would ruin their academic credibility. Besides, Prince Luosang was present, and Mr. Fisher was confident that these scholars would not dare to do such a thing.

Mr. Fisher glanced at Prince Luosang standing at the door, who was leaning against the doorframe and looking outside the hallway, wondering whom he was watching?

"Is all the magic engraved on it from the Middle Ages?"

"Ah, yes, but we don’t know the specifics behind it. Maybe this mirror can only record magic from that era..."

"Ah..."

While Mr. Fisher was focusing, he suddenly heard a faint wail. The sound should have been human, but it was so faint that he could barely make it out.

He frowned and looked around. It was very quiet, and everyone’s eyes were on him.

Could it be...

Mr. Fisher’s gaze returned to the mirror in front of him. The ripples on the surface were layered upon each other, giving rise to a terrifying suspicion.

"Awooo..."

He looked down at his Magic Circuit, which faintly glowed, as the sounds of faint wailing became clearer. Ever since his soul seemed to have been altered by the Soul Completion Manual, he had become extremely sensitive to magic, Magic Power... or rather, to the soul.

Mr. Fisher’s expression changed as he stood up and looked over at Moli,

"Moli, tear a page out of the notebook."

"Eh? Okay!"

The onlookers watched Mr. Fisher move, focusing their attention on him.

Waiting for Moli to tear out a piece of scrap paper for note-taking, Mr. Fisher bit his finger and began drawing a Magic Emblem with his blood on the paper.

Moli watched Mr. Fisher’s resolute action. Even though he was the one biting his finger and using his blood to engrave magic, Moli bit her lip, a worried expression on her face.
