Chapter 141: 57. Invitation_2

"Come in."

Fisher glanced at the two of them with little expression and spoke so faintly that Isabella was almost squeezed in by Moli who was behind her.

"Professor Fisher..."

The two of them greeted him, but Fisher didn’t respond; instead, he gestured for them to sit in front of the desk. Fisher poured himself a cup of coffee and then placed two homework assignments in front of them. Isabella immediately saw the heap of circles and the big zero at the top of her own homework, nearly fainting on the spot.

Moli, looking at her perfect-score homework, pursed her lips for some reason.

"This is last week’s homework, consisting of three major questions. The approach of both of you two to the three questions is roughly the same. Now I want to ask you both, have there been any instances of cheating between you two?"

Huh?

It seemed like Mr. Fischer had not yet confirmed whether or not she had copied from Moli’s?

Upon hearing Fisher’s words, it seemed he also didn’t have conclusive evidence that she had copied Moli’s work, which was why he was inquiring with her?

Isabella instinctively wanted to say she had not committed plagiarism, but after glancing at Moli and recalling Milica’s words, she pursed her lips, bowed her head, and spoke,

"Yes, I... I copied Moli’s homework, and it was I who proactively asked Moli to give it to me. This is all my fault."

"That’s not true... Mr. Fischer, it was me..."

Moli tried to explain, but Fisher raised his hand to stop her from continuing.

He nodded at Isabella and said,

"Good, then, consistent with what I stated in the first class, your work is deemed to be plagiarism, you’ll receive a zero, and be warned. If there’s a next time, you’ll fail this course. Do you have any objections?"

"No... none."

Fisher pointed to her assignment,

"In question three, the elaboration on the worldview of the essence of magic, only yours and Moli’s thoughts were identical in the class. However, when I designed the third question, each student received slightly different magical data. Your sub-ring number is 101, hers is 107, but you used the same data as she did."

As Fisher spoke, Isabella knew that his inquiry about plagiarism had been a trap. Fisher must have had definite evidence when he summoned her and Moli. Had she just now claimed she hadn’t plagiarized, the consequences might have been much more severe than a warning.

"Now tell me, why didn’t you finish my assignment with care and instead copied from Moli?"

"I’m sorry, Professor Fisher, my older brother hosted a very important reception last weekend, which I had to attend, so I did not complete the homework."

Fisher’s fingers tapped on the desk. The brother Isabella referred to must be Dexter Gedelin, the eldest son of King Gedelin IX, about seven years older than Elizabeth, and the most likely among the children to succeed the throne.

Given King Gedelin IX’s health, the king’s everyday affairs were now largely handled by this prince. With Schwali’s imminent visit to Nali, the reception he held for New Party officials was surely related to this significant event.

One could speculate that the Prince intended to leave this matter entirely to the New Party.

He politically leaned toward the New Party but also maintained a certain level of ambiguity with the Griffin Party, a skill every king must possess.

Several thoughts flickered silently through Fisher’s mind before he accepted Isabella’s explanation,

"I understand. This is the last time. Any recurrences will be punished as I’ve previously stated. Alright, you may go now."

"Thank you, Professor Fisher!"

Both Moli and Isabella relaxed, ready to rise and bid farewell to Fisher, but Fisher suddenly spoke from behind them,

"Wait, I meant Isabella may leave. Moli, stay here for a while; I have something to discuss with you."

"Eep..."

The girl, who had just stood up, let out a barely audible, panicked squeak at Fisher’s words. She glanced at Fisher, then quickly sat back down in a bewildered manner.

Isabella quietly squeezed Moli’s shoulder, signaling that she would wait outside, and then she left the office.

Once it was only Fisher and Moli left in the office, Fisher finally took a close look at the girl before him.

The girl before him always liked to wear Saint Nali’s now-unfashionable loose dresses, and beneath those dresses were white knee-high socks and black leather shoes. Her posture was conservative, legs modestly together, hands subconsciously placed in front of her abdomen, her skin blushing slightly.

"Professor Fisher... is there something else?"

Her tentative, soft-spoken words made Fisher momentarily forget that she was a demi-human. At least for now, Fisher could not spot any giveaways from her appearance.

But he still remembered the girl’s soft words in the swimming pool that night; she had once called the name "Ramasitia", meaning that she, too, hailed from the Southern Ocean, and was an Ocean Subhuman who worshipped the God of Hundred Forms.
