Chapter 140: 57. Invitation
"Isabella and Moli, please go to the Magic Academy’s professor’s office now. Mr. Fischer needs to speak with both of you."
When the Residence Student Association’s student cadre found Isabella, Moli, and Milica below the academic building, they had just finished class.
"Ah, okay, we will go immediately."
The two who were called were slightly startled, then simultaneously showed signs of panic.
Isabella’s anxiety stemmed from having copied Moli’s homework over the weekend and then submitted it, now suddenly being called by name gave her ample reason to suspect that Professor Fisher had discovered her mischief.
Even as a princess, being called into the teacher’s office so unexpectedly caused her heartbeat to surge this very second, roaring like the engine of a steam engine.
Yet, in front of others, she maintained her calm demeanor, smiling as she responded to the notifying student, who then left. The moment the student was gone, her gentle expression couldn’t hold up anymore and became extremely frantic.
It’s over, it’s over, it’s over, it’s over.
During the Gedelin Festival, she knew that Professor Fisher had an unusual relationship with her sister, and her sister was always the strictest with her. If...if Professor Fisher spilled everything about her copying homework to her sister, wouldn’t she not even be able to go home?
Her brother and father would surely know about it too!
If only she’d known, she would not have copied the homework. But then last weekend, her brother had met with ministers from the New Party and held a banquet in the Golden Palace, leaving her to prepare for the banquet with no time for homework!
With the homework being so difficult, assigned on Thursday with a due date of Monday, how could she have managed it!
Isabella’s face soured as sweat poured from her forehead. Turning her head, she noticed that Moli’s expression was also fraught with tension.
She carefully pursed her lips, hands covering her chest, appearing to be having difficulty breathing.
Unlike Isabella, who was worried about copying homework, Moli feared her secret as a Whale-man being exposed, should the demi-human aspect come to light...
She glanced at her roommate but dared not contemplate what the consequences of exposure might entail.
"You guys, really! Isabella, I’ve warned you before not to copy homework. Mr. Fischer must have mentioned this during class!"
Milica knew Mr. Fischer best among the three. She had warned Isabella when she came back from the Golden Palace over the weekend wanting to copy Moli’s homework, but conceded, seeing her desperate to write something due tomorrow.
"But...but there really was something going on at home, and I just didn’t have time to write..."
Isabella looked pitifully at Milica, whose expression softened with a sigh.
In front of outsiders, Isabella was the gentle and gracious Princess, but only around close friends did she reveal her cute and immature side. More than a princess, Milica and Moli treated her like a dear, familiar friend.
Now that there was an issue, they simply had to face it. Making a quick decision, Milica touched her chin and said,
"As I understand Mr. Fischer, he’s surely noticed that you copied the homework, Isabella. Calling the two of you in is probably to give you a reprimand. Don’t even think about the marks for this homework; it will certainly be zero. The key is to sincerely apologize to Mr. Fischer and ensure it won’t happen again. And Isabella, you are a princess, the teacher won’t make things too difficult for you."
After speaking, Milica, who had revealed Mr. Fischer’s information for the sake of her friend, reiterated with some guilt,
"But, next time! You really can’t copy homework again. Next time, who knows if Mr. Fischer will decide to take you to the Academic Affairs Office, you got it?"
Isabella nodded miserably, while Moli, belatedly realizing Mr. Fischer wasn’t calling for her over that night’s incident, let out a sigh of relief.
Then, as soon as she relaxed, she fell into the same panic over the homework copying fiasco as Isabella, as if one problem tapered off only for another to arise.
But as distressing as it was, they still had to face it.
"Go quickly, I won’t join this time to avoid Mr. Fischer knowing I’ve been scheming behind his back. Remember, a good apology will certainly be fine!"
"Okay..."
Isabella and Moli trudged with sour faces towards the teacher’s office, finally seeing the Magic Academy’s classroom office at the end of several academic buildings.
When they pushed the door open and came to the entrance of Professor Fisher’s office, the door to his office was open, revealing the scene inside.
"Mr. Fisher is confirmed to be participating in the volunteer teaching, correct?"
"Yes, the topic is ethics, right?"
"Good. Starting next week, we will gradually inform all professors of the specific times and locations. Please check your email."
"Alright, thank you."
Professor Fisher prepared to stand and see off the Academic Affairs staff, then stood up and saw two young girls standing timidly outside his office, looking like restrained little animals.
Isabella stood in front, while Moli cautiously hid behind her, both curious and fearful as they peeked inside the office.
Although she was not human, Moli shared Isabella’s dread of being summoned to the teacher’s office.
