Chapter 135: 52. Quality

"Moli..."

"Moli, wake up!"

Moli slowly opened her heavy eyelids, her roommates’ figures shifting from blurry to clear in her gaze. The curtains in the dormitory had been drawn back, allowing the morning sunlight to flood the dormitory floor. It was then that Moli realized she had overslept.

"Sorry!"

She sat up in a panic, her fine figure accentuated by the contours of her pajamas.

"Why apologize... Did you not sleep well last night that you overslept today?"

"Right, you’re usually the first one up in our dorm."

Facing her roommates’ concerned gazes, Moli carefully clutched at her chest, suddenly remembering the cold-faced gentleman in the night’s darkness.

So, Mr. Fischer could be that scary, she thought, almost having her soul scared out of her when he discovered her chasing.

Luckily, he hadn’t found her hiding in the swimming pool. If she had been caught, it would definitely have been discovered that she was not human!

Moli glanced somewhat fearfully at her own body under the covers. There, human legs were wrapped in pajama pants and the tips of two jade feet were slightly curled – not her huge tail.

After confirming she hadn’t exposed herself, she sighed in relief.

"It’s.. it’s nothing, I had a nightmare last night..."

Milica and Isabella exchanged glances; suddenly, Isabella burst out laughing,

"You didn’t dream about Professor Fischer, did you?"

"Eek!"

Why... How did Isabella know?

Moli looked panically at Isabella next to her, fearing her roommates had learned of her being chased by Mr. Fischer.

That couldn’t be, she thought. There was no one in the dorm when she fled back last night, and there were no witnesses in the direction of the gym either.

Facing Moli’s anxious expression, Isabella immediately waved her index finger,

"I glanced at the assignment sheet Professor Fischer distributed yesterday. My gosh, it felt like a nightmare... Moli, were you scared by the workload too?"

"Eh? Oh.. yes, that."

Moli’s emotions rollercoastered in front of her roommates, but she eventually relaxed a bit upon confirming none of them knew what had happened last night.

"Come on, get dressed; we’ll be late if we don’t leave soon."

"Okay~"

Moli hurriedly changed clothes, struggling with her bra clasp in front of the mirror before putting on her clothes and freshening up. Together with her roommates, she left the dorm.

The early morning campus always carried an inherent drowsiness, students seemingly weary yet unable to conceal their vibrant energy.

The three girls walked to the breakfast diner, looking like three roses blossoming towards the light, attracting attention.

"Lady Lao Fang’s class is quite interesting; she had us analyze many ancient Nali poems. Isabella, your ancestor Gedelin I apparently loved writing poems about swans; Lady Lao Fang said he wrote over a hundred..."

"Really? Speaking of which, my dad mentioned before that grandpa and our ancestors loved eating goose."

"Seriously? I thought it was because they wanted to praise the swans’ fighting spirit."

Moli covered her mouth lightly chuckling, not quite able to join the conversation of her younger roommates, but finding it amusing nonetheless.

"Mr. Fischer!"

The next second, Milica’s greeting made Moli’s smile freeze, her heart rate accelerating significantly.

In her peripheral vision, there was a gentleman enjoying breakfast by the window in the restaurant. Fischer looked up upon hearing Milica’s greeting, his gaze pausing for several seconds particularly on Moli at the back.

Wouldn’t be discovered, wouldn’t be discovered?

Moli shrank fearfully behind Isabella, not daring to meet Fischer’s gaze, trying to reduce her presence.

But thankfully, Mr. Fischer seemed not to have recognized her from the previous night.

Fischer quickly averted his gaze and simply nodded, wiping his mouth with a napkin,

"Milica, Moli, Princess Isabella, good morning."

"Mr. Fischer, you’re here so early, have you moved into the faculty dorms? Does this mean I can visit your dorm after class?"

"You’ll be caught and reported; if you have something to talk about, please come to my office."

While communicating with the disappointed Milica, Fischer’s peripheral vision stealthily fell on the legs of the Moli standing behind Isabella. Her symmetrical legs, encased in white socks, did not have the huge tail he had seen last night.

How did she manage that?

Although Fischer had some guesses, his expression did not betray any of this; he seemed completely oblivious to last night’s events.

"Ah? Really, how about we all have breakfast together then?"

"I’ve already eaten. You all enjoy your breakfast. Oh, and..." Fischer said with a smile as he tidied up the plates on the table and picked up his hat and other belongings. It seemed he recalled something and then said, "Be careful when walking around campus at night recently; don’t walk alone, especially you young ladies, understood?"

"Ah, yes, Mr. Fischer."

Moli pursed her lips, obviously thinking that Fischer was completely unaware of the identity of the figure from last night, probably mistaking it for a thief or a robber.

She sighed, her inner vigilance completely relaxed.

Fischer bid them farewell, taking his belongings and disappearing at the entrance of the diner.

He had a class to teach to the second-year students in the morning, and he didn’t have any particular matters to address, so he planned to focus solely on Elliog, the demon. He had guessed that the demon was probably still sleeping in the morning, so he hadn’t brought her any food, planning to go at noon instead.

Class time flew by quickly, and the second-year students were tormented by the homework Fischer had assigned last Thursday, shifting their deadline to next Tuesday.

Even so, the students continued to gather around Fischer, tirelessly asking him questions, even inquiring about career planning for mages.

It was a very interesting topic because before graduating, they could sit exams for two to three certificates proving their level in magic. There were two significant options: one from the Nali Magic Association, the "Mage Qualification Certificate," and another from the World Magic Association, the "Mage Certification." Both certificates were divided into junior and senior levels.

Many students would obtain a junior certificate from either institution before graduation, depending on where they planned to develop their careers. The certificates from Nali were not recognized in some countries in Kado and the Northern Realm.

Suddenly, Fischer remembered that Principal Ken had mentioned Schwali’s visit when he had spoken to him, and that Schwali’s Magic Society had unexpectedly visited the World Magic Association in Kado last month. He reminded himself that this action might likely be connected to their visit to Nali, although he didn’t know what they were up to at the Magic Association in Kado.

Watching the students gradually leave, Fischer also gathered his own things and went to pick up the food he had reserved in the morning. He didn’t eat lunch in the diner but headed straight towards the laboratory.

As he passed by the "Southern Continent Subhumans Protection Association," he still did not see Xiayat, the demi-human, nor any other staff members. They must be busy with some activities of the New Party.

When Fischer reached his lab, he had been worried that Elliog might have gone out in search of food due to hunger in the morning, but when he pushed open the door, she was still lying on her bed, motionless just as she had been when he left her last night, embodying the epitome of "laziness."

Fischer called out her name, but she didn’t move. Resigned, he started to eat his lunch, and suddenly, the black, thin arrow-tipped tail hanging off the bed burst into flames.

Waiting for Fisher to look her way, she slowly rubbed her eyes and sat up,

"Oww... Morning, why do you get up so early every day? Don’t you know going to bed early and waking up early can shorten your life?"

"What kind of absurd theory is that?"

Elliog thought bewilderedly for a second, and when she saw Fisher’s face, she suddenly realized and said,

"I forgot you’re not a demon. Well, from a human perspective, it does seem healthier to have regular habits... Ah, food, thanks for the treat..."

Her gaze quickly shifted to the chicken on the table. She leisurely picked up the edge of the plate and bit off large chunks of chicken, then swallowed them whole.

She patted her stomach, savoring the delicious taste of the food.

Unlike humans whose taste system is on their tongue, demons seem to only taste their food after swallowing it, which must be one of their differences from humans.

"Keep eating. Can I continue my research on you now?"

She nodded nonchalantly and continued to bite into the meat, signaling to Fisher to go ahead.

Fisher was immensely interested in the slender tail swinging behind her, the flame on the tip flickered gently, burning intensely.

"I’ve been wanting to ask, why is there a flame at the end of your tail, but it feels completely cold?"

Fisher reached out to touch her tail, just as he was about to touch the arrow-like tip, Elliog stopped him and shook her tail, saying,

"Don’t touch that spot, Ow, it’s very sharp. That flame is an extension of my consciousness and a manifestation of a demon’s strength. Just a heads up, if you see a demon with large, vigorous flames on their tail, better start running fast because if they catch you, they’ll suck your marrow dry."

She smiled back at Fisher and then Fisher looked at the dimming flame on her tail that seemed about to extinguish, unsure whether what she said was true or false.

"Besides, the tail can also determine the quality of prey, just like this..."

As soon as her words fell, her tail whipped around like lightning towards Fisher, who quickly grabbed it, but the tail’s tip flexibly twisted and gently pricked Fisher’s skin.

There was no pain, and the flame completely entered Fisher’s skin, and in Fisher’s vision, a drop of blood flowed back up the tail tip into Elliog’s flame.

The next moment, the flame flickered, and the arrow tip at the tail end detached from Fisher.

Elliog turned her head to look at Fisher, a gurgling sound like magma bubbling came from deep within her throat, her eyes grew brighter, and a smile appeared at the corners of her mouth.

"Um... The quality of your liquid is very high, you might even be able to sire little demons with me."
