Chapter 114: 34. Unexpected_2
As long as she used the revival trait, she would be in so much pain that it felt like dying and coming back to life.
Now, under someone else’s roof, she had no choice but to lower her head, and although Carolina’s eyes still looked unpleasant, at least she stopped cursing and yelling.
"I’m very interested in your trait, so I want to study it... Of course, I won’t let you give your services for free. If I’m not mistaken, the Pink Hall sheltering you must require some form of payment, and it’s definitely related to Schwali, and more likely, you need to do something during Schwali’s upcoming visit to Nali."
Carolina’s pupils dilated with disbelief, but Fisher’s expression remained unchanged, as if he was certain of his speculation.
"How... how do you know?"
"Because you’re too stupid." Fisher shook his head without answering her question and continued, "Tell me, what do they want you to do?"
Carolina opened her mouth and hesitated for a while before she finally revealed,
"They want me to... arbitrarily assassinate a member of the Schwali visiting delegation, so I wanted to know about the Schwali visit."
Fisher almost laughed at this statement, not sure whether to laugh at her foolishness or her overestimation of herself.
The Schwali visit was the result of many negotiations, and both sides would certainly attach great importance to it. The members of the visiting delegation would not only be from Schwali but also protected by the Nali Royal Guard at all times.
By then, even the beds the delegates slept on would probably be made of magic, and this weak Witch before him would likely be killed a thousand times before she could even get close.
Even if by some miracle she succeeded, she would face the enmity of two nations, far more terrifying than being hunted by the Witch Research Association. It wasn’t a game; she would probably have to become a pirate at sea, if any pirate would be foolish enough to take her in.
Fisher’s idiot-gazing eyes again infuriated Carolina. She sat up as if to prove herself, saying,
"Of course, I know the Pink Hall is playing me. I wouldn’t be so foolish as to actually assassinate someone from Schwali! I plan to escape during the attempted assassination..."
"And your escape plan?"
"..." Carolina opened her mouth and stubbornly retorted, "I haven’t thought it through yet! Besides, they haven’t come yet, I still have some time to think!"
Fisher sighed and raised a finger,
"A deal, let me study you, and I’ll provide you with protection, whether it’s from the Pink Hall or the Witch Research Association. I’ll ensure your safety. Once it’s all over, I’ll even let you go free. What do you say?"
Carolina pursed her lips. She didn’t trust Fisher, of course, but with her not-so-clever brain, she really couldn’t think of a reason to refuse. Plus, she was now caught by him, and he did seem to be somewhat stronger.
So, in the end, she became a bit timid, and her attitude softened,
"Study, what do you mean?"
Fisher stood up, turned his back to her, and took out the Demi-human Girls Completion Manual, preparing to record down this "Undead Witch." Of course, it would be best to wait a little longer, until he was certain this was the prophesied Witch he was seeking.
"Probably much better than what you’ve experienced at the Witch Research Association, just taking down some data."
Carolina hesitated for a moment but eventually nodded, saying,
"Alright, I agree... Let’s reintroduce ourselves. My name is Carlo, what’s your name?"
"Fisher... Huh?"
Fisher slowly realized something was amiss. First, because the witch’s name behind him sounded odd, like a male’s name. But the most key point was that having opened the Demi-human Girls Completion Manual, there was now no indication of a research subject!
He looked incredulously at the Demi-human Girls Completion Manual, then suddenly turned around and looked at Carolina... no, Carlo, who was startled by his terrifying gaze.
"You... you’re not a demi-human? Nor a female?"
This was the only possibility, as the Demi-human Girls Completion Manual had only two requirements for research subjects: to be a demi-human and to be female. Could it be that the person before him didn’t meet either condition?!
Firstly, he was not a demi-human; could he be something created by the Witch Research Association, like that Bart? And moreover, was he originally a man through and through?
Carlo opened his mouth, his cheeks flushing, looking at his now seductive body with a bit of shame, and nodded hesitantly,
"I am an Artificial Witch created by the Witch Research Association, I was male before I became a witch. They told me I’m no different from other witches, the ’most perfect Creation’... What’s wrong, weren’t you interested in my trait? What difference does it make?"
Fisher almost reached out to smack him but kept his face expressionless, his eyes growing colder. He drew the Spinner back, watched as Carlo fell back on the bed, and turned to put on his coat, preparing to leave immediately,
"It’s fine, I’m looking for a true Witch. You’re of no use now, you can go."
"What?!"
Carlo got up angrily, his hands helpless due to dislocation, and his face reddened as he glared at the utterly unashamed Fisher, cursing angrily,
"Are you messing with me? It was you who said you wanted to study me! Now you say you’re leaving just like that?"
"Remember to pay for the room."
Fisher had already put on his gentleman’s hat and, without paying any attention to him, prepared to leave, acting as if it had nothing to do with him.
Just as he was about to leave, Carlo clenched his teeth and suddenly shouted at Fisher’s back,
"Isn’t it the true Undead Witch you’re looking for? I have a clue about her!"
The towering gentleman stopped in his tracks, then his expressionless face turned around,
"A long time ago, someone used the same trick to deceive me. All my patience was spent on her, and I no longer have any to spare for others... If you dare to lie to me, you will taste splendid consequences, I assure you."
Outside the window, a lark cocked its head, as if it had heard Fisher’s words.
A bead of cold sweat appeared on Carlo’s forehead, but he still nodded emphatically, saying to Fisher very seriously,
"I swear I have a clue about the true Witch. Help me escape from the Pink Hall and Witch Research Association, and I’ll tell you everything."
