Chapter 112 - 33.Carolina

Chapter 112: 33.Carolina

In the Pink Hall, outside Fisher’s room, Lady Anna, clad in traditional Nali attire, held her arms and waited until the room’s door was completely closed before she coldly glanced at the brown-haired girl beside her, who was buttoning up her shirt.

"Within the Pink Hall, any discussion of political affairs is forbidden, as is digging for information or secrets that one ought not to dig for. This is the way we survive. You’re an outsider, so I won’t do anything to you this time, but if you were one of our girls, I’d pull out your tongue to teach you the consequences of reckless speech."

Yet the brown-haired girl seemed indifferent, even slightly annoyed as she glared at the stunning woman in front of her,

"It was you who wanted me to carry out the mission. What’s going on now? How can I... without news from Schwali"

She hadn’t finished speaking when Anna gently raised a finger and placed it silently in front of her tempting red lips, cutting off the girl’s words without a sound.

The atmosphere outside in the corridor grew oppressively tense; she looked straight at the girl before her, rendering the girl standing there shivering from cold, as though she was being watched by some terrifying entity.

"Such topics are forbidden here."

It seemed to be the final warning. Anna slowly lowered her finger from her lips, and the oppressive atmosphere gradually subsided. The brown-haired girl pursed her lips, a fine sweat breaking out on her back, but she remained defiantly impatient.

"I don’t care what sort of deal you struck with the master, but in running the Pink Hall, I must ensure it operates by our rules of survival. Whatever intelligence or information you want to get, do so outside the Pink Hall. Whether you go to bed with someone or drug them, I don’t care. But if you stir up trouble here, I don’t mind showing you what real pain is... especially with such exceptional qualities as yours, Carolina?"

"Don’t call me that name!"

The last name uttered by Anna seemed to strike a nerve with the girl in front, who gritted her teeth and glanced at the firmly closed door beside her, glaring fiercely at the beautiful lady,

"You damn hypocrite— I’ll obtain intelligence and complete my mission my own way. You stay out of it; I’m not one of your Pink Hall girls!"

Unperturbed by the abuse, Anna watched the girl leave after adjusting her shirt, a sneer on her face. She gestured to an attendant nearby to bring another complimentary bottle of wine to the guests in the room.

Just as she finished giving the order, she noticed the room’s door open, and Mr. Schwali stepped out. He surveyed the surroundings, showing a hint of disappointment upon realizing the brunette Carolina was gone.

Looks like a sentimental gentleman, falling for such a girl. Coming here in search of youth is rather foolish.

Anna put on a faint smile and turned to Fisher, who had come out, and asked,

"Something the matter, sir?"

"Ah, nothing. Could you tell me where the bathing chamber is?"

Asking the location of the bathing chamber to cover up his actual purpose? Quite transparent.

Anna smiled again and pointed in the direction down the corridor, a delicate fragrance wafting in the air with her gesture, so pure and lotus-like that one might wonder if they encountered a true lady in the wrong place,

"If it’s the bathing chamber you seek, it’s in that direction."

"Understood."

Fisher had almost certainly determined that the brown-haired girl was the Witch he was seeking, yet the moment he came out, she had disappeared. He had intended to come out and pretend to be a gentleman interested in the girl, asking where she had gone, but upon seeing Anna, Fisher abandoned the idea.

His intuition told him that the lady before him was not simple, and it would be prudent to be cautious. After all, Fisher’s intuition had never let him down so far—in being careful, there was no issue.

Anna, hiding a laugh behind her hand, then turned and left the area.

Fisher walked slowly towards the restroom, wandering a bit around the vast Pink Hall, which reeked of that accursed drug. He covered his nose and mouth but still failed to spot the Witch, eventually giving up.

He returned to the room only to find Trandell lying in a haze on a little bed in another chamber, the door wide open. Beside him, a lady sat up, fixing her hair, and while casting a seductive look at Fisher, she lit a cigarette.

No, how long was I out?

And such a quick resolution?

Confused, Fisher looked at Trandell, who was sweating profusely, feeling the urge to caution him to exercise restraint, lest he ends up with a terrible condition like infertility.

"Oh... these ladies, too comfortable..."

"Ah, we’re quite comfortable too. Lord Trandell is marvelous, and he deserves a good reward,"

Several ladies offered grateful kisses, almost extracting Trandell’s soul in the process. The other ladies pulled gently at Fisher’s fingertips, and when he turned back, a foot extended in front of him hooked onto his trousers,

"Come on, Lord Andrew, won’t you have a drink?"

"..."

The ladies by his side had clearly come into contact with his solid muscles, found him firmer than the soft Trandell, and were now eager to taste this gentleman, even willing to overlook his cologne.

But Fisher had already obtained nothing here, and of course, he wouldn’t indulge himself in pleasures, but leaving immediately would be too suspicious, so he had to accompany the ladies for a drink before pretending to pass out drunk for a while, leaving those thirsty ladies to prod his unmoving body in frustration.

When he got up several hours later, Fisher pretended to panic and checked the time, acting as if something was terribly wrong.

Standing up, he walked over to Trandell, who was still groggy from several rounds of "lightning war," pulling him out of his pleasant stupor. Seeing him still somewhat dazed, Fisher gently slapped him to bring him to his senses,

"Mr. Trandell, you’ve had too much to drink. How can we discuss business later?"

"Ah... Yes, we still have business to discuss, sorry, Mr. Andrew."

Trandell caught on super quickly; anyway, he had already had his fill multiple times, and now when he said he’d leave, there was no ambiguity about it.

He patted his head and turned to look at the surrounding ladies with some confusion, saying, "Keep the wine from this time, I’ll enjoy it next time I come. Just settle the bill with the money I’ve reserved before."

"Certainly, Lord Trandell."

A lady from the back stepped forward, while the remaining ladies carefully helped him get dressed, and some even brought a fragrant handkerchief to wipe his sweat. It must be said, the service was truly spot on. Fisher also straightened his clothes, waiting for Trandell, who was staggering, to be escorted out the door by several ladies.

When they reached the main entrance, Lady Anna, who was dressed in conservative attire, approached smilingly, personally handing over the bill to Fisher, who seemed still sober. Then she curtsied and said,

"I truly apologize for the slight mishap earlier. The discount has been calculated for you, and we guarantee there won’t be such issues next time. Lord Trandell’s wine is frozen in the ice house, waiting for the gentlemen to come and enjoy at any time."

Fisher glanced at the lady of utmost beauty and for some reason, he suddenly felt something odd about the person before him, but couldn’t quite put his finger on what was strange.

"Thank you."

Fisher responded in stiff Nali Language, and then took over the groggy Trandell from the ladies, preparing to go to the entrance to hail a carriage to send him home.

Not long after they left, Carolina, the brunette who had changed into a new dress, came down from the second floor. She glared at Anna beside her, ran out of the Pink Hall, and followed in the direction of the two gentlemen.

"Sister Anna..."

The lady beside noticed the girl following and was about to try to stop her but was interrupted by Anna, who stood still, shook her head, and with a faint smile while watching Carolina head out, said,

"She’s not one of the Pink Hall’s people, what she does outside of the Pink Hall is her freedom. Go and wash up, then change your clothes, and come back to work tonight."

"Yes."

...

...

Supporting Trandell, Fisher went quite a distance when the figure walking by the roadside paused slightly. He surreptitiously looked back, furrowed his brows, and then hailed a carriage on the roadside.

"Get in and go home to rest, can you walk?"

"Mm... Mm, I can... so comfortable, huh."

"Comfortable my foot, your soul looks like it’s about to fly away. If you keep this up, something bad will happen sooner or later!"

"Doesn’t matter... so comfortable."

Fisher couldn’t understand the magic power that the ladies in the Pink Hall possessed for a moment, as if they had practiced some secret magic, utterly irresistible, leaving Trandell in a state of dying for more. But at least for today, they seemed indeed very professional, or rather, too professional.

After sending Trandell, who was like a lump of mud, onto the carriage, Fisher hesitated on the spot for a while, then walked in the direction of the main street. His strides weren’t fast, as though an outsider, incessantly surveying the surrounding streets and scenery.

He pondered in front of the tobacco shop for a long time before buying a box of Saint Nali’s specialty cigarettes. When he came out, a small figure suddenly grabbed the sleeve of Fisher’s clothes, pulling him into the gap next to the building. He instinctively resisted "frantically," shouting in Schwali Language,

"Who?"

In front of him, a brunette girl wearing an ill-fitting dress made a quiet "shush" gesture with her finger while her left hand gently pressed against Fisher’s waist,

"It’s me, sir, the one from the Pink Hall earlier, my name is... Carolina."

"Ah, it’s you."

Fisher’s face turned slightly red, and his robust body relaxed, but Carolina could definitely sense the man before her was somewhat tense, though a greasy hand was slowly covering the back of her hand.

Disgust flickered deep in her eyes, but she still managed to force a stiff smile. A soft hand gently hooked Fisher’s collar, making his breathing hasten, seemingly yearning for the girl before him.

Feeling sought after by a man for the first time, Carolina subconsciously felt nauseated, yet there was an indescribable sensation flooding her.

After a moment of silence, Fisher said with a bit of nervousness,

"There’s a place close by where we can rest... we could, uh, have a chat there. Would you like to... go together?"

With a silent laugh, Carolina felt a bit smug about how easily she had succeeded but managed to suppress the visible pleasure on her face.

Blushing, she nodded her head, took Fisher’s sleeve, and shyly said,

"Mm..."

Pfft, Anna that stinking woman, not being from the Pink Hall means not from the Pink Hall, isn’t it easy to succeed?

Men overwhelmed by desire, can you expect them to be that guarded? Idiots!

That’s what Carolina thought, but she was completely unaware that the seemingly innocent Schwali gentleman beside her had gradually developed a deep gaze, quietly sizing up the girl beside him, like a beast ready to devour without spitting out bones, concealing his predatory demeanor.

And already, the prey was in the bag.
