Chapter 444: Chapter 200: The Viscera Thief_1

In the dead of night, the wind blowing over the river was chilly, seeping into her clothes and stealing away the little body heat she had.

Lin Baici had come out this time to tackle a potential outbreak of rules pollution and now that there was finally a lead, of course she wasn’t going to leave.

"It’s not a ghost anyway!"

Lin Baici quietly took a few deep breaths to calm her nerves, reminding herself that she was, after all, a God Hunter graced with fifteen Divine Blessings, and she hadn’t even had a chance to put her Great Impression Hand to use yet.

"If I keep hanging around, the dorm will close. Where will I sleep tonight?"

Lin Baici watched the girl’s eyes intently.

The girl, too, was getting anxious. Why wasn’t that thing showing up?

No good,

she had to keep this guy here!

"We could get a room."

After she spoke, the girl looked up at Lin Baici’s face and suddenly felt that her suggestion had no allure whatsoever. Such a handsome guy mustn’t be short of girlfriends.

"I mean... we’ve only just met!"

Even though Lin Baici said this, he made a move to kiss the girl like a real scumbag.

The girl instinctively bowed her head, dodging Lin Baici.

This action convinced Lin Baici that she was a reserved girl, so it was crystal clear that if the girl wanted to keep him around, she must have a hidden purpose.

Could it be that a monster would climb out of the river later and devour my organs?

Figuring it might be best to play safe, Lin Baici took out his phone: "Are you hungry? How about we order some takeout?"

He unlocked his phone one-handed, opened WeChat, and sent a message to Xia Hongyao.

Lin Xia Dai Yue Gui: What are you up to? Hurry to the riverside near Haijing Medical University; I’ve found the target. Remember to stay hidden when you come, don’t startle it.

"Not hungry!"

The girl, worried that Lin Baici’s chatting could give away her secret, tiptoed to catch a glimpse of Lin Baici’s phone screen.

However, Lin Baici was too tall, and the girl couldn’t see it.

Great Detective Xia: Got it, on my way!

An excited emoticon followed.

Lin Baici immediately switched to Meituan, internally rolling his eyes. What time do you think it is, and you still have the mind to reply?

Just get over here!

"How about some skewers and beer? We can eat, drink, and chat. What do you say?"

While talking, Lin Baici made a reach for the girl’s waist, appearing as if he planned to get her drunk and then do something unmentionable.

"I don’t want to eat."

The girl was worried that if the monster showed up while the delivery guy was also there, things could get complicated. If it faced two people and couldn’t ’handle’ one and the other escaped, what then?

And if this guy ended up dead, what if the delivery person who had seen her with him called the cops?

"Then let’s move over there by the streetlights? It’s pitch-black here, and what if we fall into the river?"

Lin Baici had noticed that the girl had been walking along the riverbank, leading him to dark places, away from the streetlights.

An hour passed.

Nothing happened.

"..."

Lin Baici looked at the girl. What happened to the plotting and scheming? What about the rules pollution?

Come on!

Get on with it!

As the wait dragged on, the initial sense of worry in Lin Baici had dissipated completely, and now he just wanted the girl to start trouble so he could deal with it and get back to sleep.

Lin Baici glanced at his watch. It was past midnight.

The girl obviously hadn’t committed a crime before, as her nerves were shot and anxiety was written all over her face. Moreover, her thoughts weren’t meticulous; otherwise, she’d realize that even a man with malintent would get annoyed with her after being made to pace the roads for so long.

Lin Baici touched his stomach; he didn’t feel hungry, which meant there were neither Taboo things nor God’s bones nearby.

Another quarter of an hour passed, and just as he was pondering whether to confront her, the girl suddenly screamed and collapsed to the ground.

What’s going on?

Lin Baici rushed over and squatted beside her: "What’s wrong with you?"

"Where are you? Come out now."

"I did what you told me!"

"Give me back my liver! Please."

The girl cried out towards the river, her severe abdominal pain causing her to lose all composure, blurting out things she shouldn’t have.

Because the monster had said that if she didn’t bring someone there within three days, she would die.

She pondered for three days, and to survive, she finally decided to throw her Bestie under the bus. But after she brought someone, the monster didn’t appear.

"Who are you talking to? What liver?"

Lin Baici asked.

"No. ..I... I’m part of the drama club; I’m practicing a script!"

The girl avoided Lin Baici’s gaze while stuttering, sweating profusely from the pain in her stomach.

"Do you think I’d believe that?"

Lin Baici was ready to have it all out, but the girl suddenly started coughing violently, and after a few hacks, she spat out a mouthful of blood that even contained bits of flesh.

"Hang in there; I’m calling an ambulance!"

As Lin Baici dialed 120, suddenly, a hunger pang hit him; he quickly looked up, glancing around the dark surroundings, but he couldn’t see anything.

"I don’t want to die, save me!"

"Give me back my liver!"

The girl cried out, her breath growing weaker.

Three days earlier, she and her bestie were taking a night stroll by the river, when they encountered a man with rotting skin. Before her eyes, he devoured her bestie’s organs, then reached into her mouth and pulled out her liver.

The monster said that as long as she brought someone to the riverside at night, it would return her liver.

The girl knew that whoever she brought would not survive, but in order to live, she decided to be selfish just once. Yet, why hadn’t the monster appeared?
