Chapter 1278: Chapter 572: Great God Lin, Fame Spreads!_3
"Holy crap bro, you’re so greedy!"
"This gear, I’ve got the skills to back it up, okay!"
"You got it, I’d go solo too if it were me!"
Players envy, strong equipment, high skill level, that’s real confidence.
"Same here!"
The Lady Boss chuckled lightly.
This was actually a newbie welfare quest, rewarding Gold Coins, and the choice of one out of several blue-tier weapons suitable for one’s own class.
Then it doesn’t really matter.
Lin Baici clicked accept and saw four other player avatars appear on his interface.
"Holy crap, who was so quick to party up with the big shot?"
Someone invited Lin Baici to join their team, and a message popped up.
The player you invited has joined another team.
That made them suddenly feel dejected.
"My apologies, I was the first to act!"
The Holy Knight called Bai Yutang, a real joker, bowed playfully to everyone.
"Big shot, ain’t you scared of getting screwed over by strangers? You should start your own group!"
A player advised: "I’m a level 16 Mage with Blizzard, good at mob farming."
"Big shot, I’m a level 16 Priest, let me join your team!"
"Demon Summoner levels up too slowly, big shot, I want that blue-tier Magic Wand reward. I’m willing to pay, please let me have a spot!"
The players crowded around.
Bai Yutang was sweating bullets and hurriedly passed the team leader role to Lin Baici: "Big shot, don’t go, here’s the leadership for you."
The other three teammates also tried to persuade him with all sorts of pleas.
With an expert in the team, not only is the fight quicker, but also safer; otherwise, a single defeat, team disbandment, and having to regroup is just a huge waste of time.
"Let’s get moving, hurry up!"
Lin Baici stood up.
Everyone quickly followed suit, heading outside and took the wanted poster down from the notice board.
"Where’s Red Eye? Does anyone know?"
Lin Baici read the quest description.
Usually, the procedure is to ask villagers for information which takes about ten minutes of back-and-forth running, but there are plenty of players in Flash Gold Town and some already know Red Eye’s location.
"To the west, there’s a farm where he is hiding in a wooden house!"
Bai Yutang had already inquired beforehand.
The five of them set out immediately and ten minutes later, arrived at a farm called Morello’s.
There was a house at the farm, with over fifty players gathered at the front door, peering inside.
Sounds of weapon clashes and magic firing could be heard from the house.
Before Bai Yutang could ask for a situation update, a Priest ran out first, followed by a Druid and a Mage.
Whoosh!
The players in front of the door scattered in shock.
A Knight in plate armor, running slowly, was just about to reach the doorway when Red Eye the Werewolf, over two and a half meters tall and covered with grey fur, caught up and struck him on the back with a blade.
The Knight fell, screaming in panic: "Heal me, quick!"
Their team’s Priest was out of mana and other Priests didn’t dare intervene for fear of drawing aggro, so the Knight, left with just a sliver of health, was finished off by the Werewolf in two strikes.
The player disintegrated into sparkles, leaving a tombstone behind.
The Werewolf chased for over fifty meters until the aggro cleared and turned back into a middle-aged farmer holding a pitchfork, retreating into the house.
Dozens of players gathered around again.
"He’s dead?"
"There’s a tombstone and everything, what do you think?"
"Forget it, let’s not fight, let’s bail!"
Players were feeling chicken-hearted—though the rewards were good, it wasn’t worth risking their lives.
"Priest, why the hell did you run? A level 20 elite monster isn’t like a dungeon boss, we could have taken it down!"
The Mage from that team was fuming with anger.
"But... but the Werewolf was coming at me!"
The Priest felt wronged.
"The Knight could’ve pulled aggro back!"
The Mage speechless: "Your running made the Werewolf go berserk, how are we supposed to fight it then?"
"What if it couldn’t be pulled back?"
The Priest countered: "Then wouldn’t I be the one dead?"
The Mage was silent, no amount of arguing was going to change the Priest’s mind.
Actually, with two or three tries to get familiar with the Werewolf’s skills, it could be defeated, but under the premise of possible death, everyone was very conservative, not willing to take any risks.
"Forget it, I’m not doing it!"
The Mage left.
The other players looked at each other, some feeling stage fright as well, especially after witnessing a player die in front of them—it was quite a shock.
"Are we still doing this?"
The Priest looked to Bai Yutang, their fellow college students from the same dormitory.
"Why ask me, ask the big shot!"
Bai Yutang was easy-going.
"Will you run?"
Lin Baici asked.
"Uh..."
The Priest was stuck; he couldn’t guarantee he wouldn’t run, because he felt he might.
"Then let’s not do it!"
Bai Yutang didn’t persuade Lin Baici, but instead apologized awkwardly: "Sorry big shot, for wasting your time!"
"Let’s go, give it a try!"
Lin Baici headed towards the wooden house.
"Huh?"
The Priest was shocked: "But... I might run if I’m in danger, you know?"
Lin Baici stood at the doorway: "Quick, come here!"
The four teammates came over.
"Priest, only heal me, ignore the others!"
Lin Baici laid out the tactics: "If someone else’s health gets low, immediately fall back, consume a Blood Bottle, and bandage up."
"I’ll call it as the situation develops, and we’ll see if the Priest needs to heal others. So don’t act on your own initiative."
"I’ll be the main tank (MT), everyone else go full damage output!"
During combat, you can’t eat or drink, but you can use bandages to recover some health.
"What if there’s OT (over-threat)?"
The Mage and Hunter were worried, their damage output was pretty high.
OTA, meaning if a teammate’s threat level exceeds that of the main tank, it leads to a loss of aggro control.
