Chapter 1246: Chapter 1250 Absolutely Sure!
“Alright, alright, alright, I’m on my way!” Yun Jue threw his cell phone onto the bed and got up to get dressed.
As he hurriedly put on his clothes, he asked Qiao Zui for more details about what had happened that night.
Qiao Zui briefly recounted the evening’s events to him including what Lian Jinshang had said about Gu Junzhu being poisoned with Gu, necessitating a sexual union with her on every full moon night, or else Gu Junzhu would die from the Gu Worms eating away at his heart.
“She’s full of shit!” Yun Jue cursed angrily, “Sure, there are people in this world who can cast Gu spells, but there’s no way that kind of Gu exists that she described. She must have given our uncle a poison that requires an antidote once a month. Without it, he’d suffer in agony or die from the poison. She’s claiming it’s Gu, all to trick our uncle into sleeping with her every month… slut! Shameless!”
Qiao Zui asked, “Are you sure it’s not Gu?”
“Absolutely sure!” Yun Jue said, “I’m an expert in this field! It’s definitely not Gu, it’s poison.”
“Can you help my uncle, then?” Qiao Zui said, “I failed to keep an eye on Lian Jinshang, and she’s dead.”
He hadn’t expected Lian Jinshang to have taken poison in advance.
That said, even if he had known she had taken the poison beforehand, it would have been of no use.
Lian Jinshang had been intent on dying; as long as she didn’t reveal where her antidote was, even if he knew she had been poisoned, he would not have been able to help her.
He had served several years as a special forces soldier and had seen plenty of these ‘dead soldiers’ who took poison before a classified mission. If the mission was a success, they would take the antidote. If it failed, they would die from the poison, so as not to be captured and tortured by the enemy.
It was always like this. Even knowing they had taken poison beforehand was of no help.
There were countless poisons in this world, and even knowing someone had been poisoned, it was impossible to find an antidote in a short time. He could only stand by helplessly as they succumbed to the poison.
“It’s hard to say right now, but if the pills really contain an antidote, I definitely can help my uncle,” Yun Jue finished dressing, grabbed his cell phone and car keys, and set out, “Creating an antidote in a short time is not easy, but identifying one is very simple.”
“Okay,” Qiao Zui said, “How long will it take you to arrive? I’ll have someone pick you up at the airport.”
“No need, I’ll fly there myself,” Yun Jue replied, “Just send me the coordinates.”
Qiao Zui: “…I’ll send them to your phone right away, be careful on the way.”
After hanging up the video call, Qiao Zui took his belt and left the basement.
It was only when he stepped out of the basement that he noticed the first light of dawn in the east.
It was almost dawn.
He went towards the main building, belt in hand, intending to see Gu Junzhu and show him the pills concealed within the belt.
On his way, Duan Yanbing hurried towards him, “Ah Zui.”
Qiao Zui stopped in his tracks, “Up so early?”
Instead of answering his question, Duan Yanbing asked him, “Is Fifth Brother poisoned?”
Qiao Zui nodded.
Duan Yanbing queried, “Did you find an antidote?”
Qiao Zui showed him the pills in his belt, “We found these pills, but I’m not sure if any of them are the antidote for my uncle.”
Duan Yanbing took out his cell phone and snapped a few photos of the pills, “I have a friend who’s quite good at this sort of thing. I’ll ask if he can help.”
Qiao Zui nodded, “I’m going to see my uncle first.”
He patted Duan Yanbing’s shoulder, “Thanks for the effort.”
With the belt in hand, he hurried off.
Duan Yanbing, meanwhile, took his phone and returned to the bedroom.
Once back in the bedroom, he slammed the door forcefully and locked it from the inside.
