Chapter 3675: Incriptions and Formations

The twins’ group avoided the battles... and those who tried to get in their way didn’t really have good endings. Still, those were just some of the exchanges happening everywhere. It was like everyone had gone crazy.

Rean guided them through the field, making almost a beeline to where the angel was located. However, when the twins’ group wasn’t too far from Fishel, they noticed there weren’t many experts around the angel. It was quite strange, like the angel was being ignored.

Then, Rean faintly smiled. ’Smart. Sister Orb, it’s your time.’

Sister Orb knew exactly what Rean meant. [Leave it to me.]

Turns out that the Angel, Fishel, had a way to identify the two experts he had paid to help him. To be more specific, it was Ermon, the Formations Master, who managed to get them together. He couldn’t just let the angel disappear with the other half of the payment, so he had the angel and his friend carry a device of his own creation.

It was similar to the communication devices, but used another type of energy that the kid didn’t interfere with. Thanks to that, Ermon quickly found Fishel’s location, and so did Orcao, the Centipede Demon Insect.

At the start of the brawl, Fishel, Orcao, and Ermon reunited, and Ermon went to work. He prepared various inscriptions on several daggers of his own, sent them flying, and landed them in the area surrounding their trio.

That formation didn’t have any attack power; it couldn’t hide your presence either. However, it made others lose focus on you, a pretty mild effect, almost imperceptible. Everyone could still see you, but that mental property of the formation made it hard for them to recognize you as a target, somewhat unconsciously. It didn’t mean the other experts wouldn’t target you, just that they would most likely target someone else.

It wasn’t perfect. When Rean and the others arrived, they saw the Angel, the Centipede, and the Formations Master killing two experts who attacked them. The formation only made it hard to focus on the angel’s group, but not impossible.

Well, Ermon, Fishel, and Orcao looked nothing like an Angel, a Centipede, and a Humanoid Race guy at the moment, not that it mattered right now.

’What are we waiting for?’ Rifindio asked, putting his wing on Rean’s back.

’Don’t worry, I’ll send you out anytime now,’ Rean answered.

Fishel’s group was going through this process quite well. Fishel himself has two marks, so there is no way this test would be over without him knowing. The other Chosen would have to take his mark first. That said, his group’s strategy was perfect. Save their energy, don’t become targets, and wait until there are only a few experts remaining. Some of them were bound to be the Chosen with their marks, even if the marks changed hands.

[Okay. I’m in control of all the inscriptions.]

Rean nodded and told Rifindio to go forward. ’Alright, just approach the angel from his back and bury your fangs in him.’

’Eh?’ Rifindio didn’t understand. ’Alone? I don’t think those three will let me get close enough for that. Will your Light Bending Skill be enough?’

’Don’t worry, they won’t notice you... probably. Anyway, Celis will be ready to pull you back if things go south. Just go,’ Rean explained.

Rifindio looked around, nodding. He quickly entered the area of the formation, but he didn’t lose his focus on the angel’s group. Instead, it was Fishel and the duo helping him that seemed not to notice Rifindio’s presence at all.

Sure enough, Sister Orb was now using Ermon’s inscriptions against them. It still worked to make Fishel not look like a target for everyone else around... except for Rifindio. That way, Fishel’s group didn’t notice anything out of the norm.

One might be thinking. The inscriptions weren’t perfect, so they might still notice Rifindio... if Rean wasn’t involved. By using his own Light Element, he also made Rifindio invisible to the naked eye.

Last but not least, Fishel was doing pretty much the same thing as all the experts in this place. He was spreading his Light Element around him, creating a small area where he could feel the changes inside. Too bad he didn’t know someone like Rean existed.

’Oh-ho...’ The kid observed Rean’s actions. ’He made it so the angel himself can’t feel his light element is being manipulated once it spreads. What a terrifying elemental control. Also, how did he take control of the inscriptions of that guy? He didn’t even get close to those daggers.’

The kid thought that, but did nothing. He was just enjoying the chaos.

Not far from him, on one of the altars, Triaglia watched Rifindio, excited. ’Even I didn’t expect these outsiders would be this good.’

Fishel was standing still, waiting for the next expert who wouldn’t be influenced by the inscriptions on the daggers. But then...

*Tic, tic!*

Fishel’s heart went cold, and his body burst with Light Element and Divine Energy.

*Boom!*

Everything around him was blasted outwards, including Ermon and Orcao.

’What are you doing?!’ Another use for Ermon’s devices was that they could also be used for communication as long as you were very close.

Fishel put a hand on his shoulder, and could see two small holes, as well as some of his blood. He looked around, his eyes narrowed. ’Someone just attacked me.’

’Uh?’ Ermon and Orcao looked around, but they couldn’t see a single soul near them.

’I didn’t feel anyone entering the range of my inscriptions,’ Ermon said, now focusing on his daggers. They were still working just fine.

’Same here,’ Orcao added. ’I haven’t felt or seen anything.’

Of course, the two of them could see the two small injuries on Fishel’s shoulder, so something definitely hit him. ’Could it be you were hit by the aftermath of some of the battles around?’

The entire place was pretty much a fireworks show, after all. It wouldn’t be too hard for something to hit you by mistake.

Fishel focused his Light Element on those tiny holes, and they healed almost instantly. ’Perhaps you are right. Can’t feel poison or anything else wrong.’

But then, something else took place.

*Zium!*

Everyone froze, all attacks disappeared, and the entire region changed back to the same appearance it had before all the chaos started. If you ignored the corpses and the injuries on the various experts, you wouldn’t be able to tell that such a grand-scale battle just took place.

"We have our winner," the kid said, now floating above everyone.
