Death… And Me
Chapter 3672: What Else?

Chapter 3672: What Else?

For a moment, everyone went silent. Well, it was already silent since no one could hear the others’ voices. But no one said anything anyway. What kind of situation was this? First of all, was there even a need to go through all the regions? Couldn’t it have been done from the start if this was going to end with an everyone-for-themselves fight?

The kid watched, enjoying the hesitation on everyone’s minds. ’Everyone-for-themselves? Not quite. But who will find the other options first?’ he thought.

No one made any sudden movements; instead, they moved slowly, keeping their eyes open to their surroundings. No one wanted to give a reason to become a target. What if you tried to send some kind of signal that only your allies recognize? That would be even more of a suicide action. After all, the only experts with allies at the moment are the chosen. All the rest are alone.

But then, the kid noticed something. Four participants made their way to each other, meeting near the center, but keeping a distance so as not to attract unnecessary attention. ’Hum? Aren’t they those four from outside?’

Well, all the work the kid did meant pretty much nothing to Rean, Roan, Kentucky, and Celis. Their connection was through the system, something the kid couldn’t have anticipated.

’Hahaha!’ Rean laughed through their connection. ’Roan, you look like a groundhog!’

Roan’s mouth twitched. ’Do you think you look any better, old lady?’ In Roan’s eyes, Rean was indeed an old woman, nothing like Rean at all.

’Sister Orb, is this a formation?’ Kentucky asked, also seeing the same things. As for himself, he was a Spirit in everyone’s eyes.

[I’m getting some readings, but I can’t tell if this is a formation, several of them, or if these readings are really coming from formations at all. The four of you, be careful. That kid is truly terrifying.]

Celis looked in the kid’s direction, speaking through the connection. ’He is, and he isn’t even here.’ Surprisingly, he was still a tree, although not a Cedar.

Rean, Roan, and Kentucky nodded. Yes, they noticed from the start. The kid on the altar wasn’t the real body. They didn’t know if it was a projection or perhaps some kind of avatar. However, one thing was certain: that wasn’t the real guy.

*Boom!*

Suddenly, a burst of Divine Energy and Elements followed, attracting everyone’s attention. Several experts were now pursuing someone, and that someone kept defending while fleeing. Was that a chosen? No one could tell, but no one would let the chance escape either.

The kid didn’t expect the twins’ group to find themselves so fast, but he wasn’t surprised. Sure, he blocked most of senses, but there were other ways of recognizing those around, some of which he left there on purpose. ’How many will notice, I wonder...’ He then took his eyes away from Rean and the others, looking at where the battle began. ’Seems like it started. Poor guy. Just happened to be the first target...’

The one being pursued wasn’t even chosen to start with. Out of nowhere, someone attacked him, and he was forced to defend himself. Yet, that served as a signal to everyone. Could he be a chosen? Why would anyone attack him? That was the first thought on everyone’s minds. He died pretty fast as a load of experts ganged up on him.

Not far from there, another expect faintly smiled, taking distance from where that fight began. He was the one to attack first, but he didn’t continue the pursuit. He was Fishel, the Angel. ’What a bunch of idiots. Even though they know this might be a mistake, everyone just can’t help but attack as well, hoping that perhaps it isn’t a mistake and they can acquire the marks.’

*Boom, boom, bang...*

Several other similar instances happened all around. The Angel wasn’t the only one to have that idea, but he was the first. It’s just that it wasn’t always the one being attacked that was targeted. Some also thought the attacker might be trying to pin the attention on someone else, so other experts focused on those who initiated the attacks as well.

The twins’ group noticed all that. Like everyone around, they could also guess why all that commotion started. There was no way there were so many chosen ones being pursued all of a sudden. There were at least twenty battles going around, and definitely not that many marks.

’Happened pretty fast,’ Rean commented, expecting something like that.

’This is good for us.’ Roan joined Rean, and so did Kentucky and Celis.

Rean nodded, closing his eyes for an instant before he ran at full speed. Roan, Celis, and Kentucky followed closely.

Yet, out of nowhere, a blade cut through the air, aiming at Roan!

"Tch..." Roan clicked his tongue, his Elemental Intent Scythe appeared, and his body flashed.

What followed was a rain of blood before Roan came back to Rean’s side. ’Idiot.’

Several experts saw Roan’s movements just now, and they quickly took distance from his group. That wasn’t something any of them could pull off in their situation.

No laws? Same cultivation? Such circumstances only made the twins’ group even more of a bunch of monsters than they ever were in this Golden Palace.

---

Somewhere else, Rifindio was running. He wasn’t a target, but fights were breaking out all around him.

Still, the fact that he was running from the fights actually played against him. Everyone was trying to find who the chosen were, and Rifindio was actually running from all the battles around? Doesn’t that mean he probably had something to hide or protect?

*Zush!*

Although he wasn’t the only one trying to avoid battles, they were rare, so it didn’t take long for the first expert to block his path. The guy looked like a giant shark, but when he attacked Rifindio, what he saw was a slashing wave of yellow light. Rifindio could even feel a weapon intent behind. The one attacking him definitely wasn’t a demon beast!

Rifindio quickly countered. His Regal Bloodline flared up, no point in hiding it now. Hundreds of his Blood Spears appeared, and they met with the slashing attack.

*Clang, clang, clang... bang!*

*Zush, zush, zush...*

*Puft, puft, puft, puft, puft...*

Yet, to Rifindio’s surprise, just a few of his blood spears were enough to completely nullify the attack. The following blood spears continued forward, impaling the expert who looked like a giant shark. The illusion of a shark’s body disappeared, and now Rifindio could finally see the expert’s real appearance. It was a cultivator from the humanoid races. His expression showed shock, a spear piercing through between his eyes. The expert hadn’t held back in the attack just now, so how did he lose so easily? Unfortunately, he would never know the answer.

Rifindio was just as shocked by his own strength. Then, it dawned on him. In this situation, he wasn’t that weak anymore. Now that even laws were blocked by the kid, Rifindio’s Regal Bloodline actually made him one of the rather strong experts around. Last but not least, who had trained him for so many years? Even Rifindio hadn’t noticed how much faster he was at using his Blood Spears compared to all the Camazotz Bats around. ’Holy shit! Can it be I’m actually on the stronger side for once in my life?’

But then, he was surrounded, making him smile bitterly. ’Of course, even if I’m not a chosen one, it is better to gang up on the strong to eliminate the competition...’

The experts didn’t stop, and one of them reached him in the next second. Of course, Rifindio immediately countered. Several blobs of blood appeared in mid-air, their form changed into what looked like a ball of nails, and they exploded all at once. At the same time, Rifindio’s Blood Spears had already returned, and he aimed them at the experts slightly behind.

However, before any of his attacks landed, the guy attacking him flashed away, avoiding all the blood nails!

’Shit!’

Rifindio reacted, his wings solidifying with blood and becoming as sharp as a blade, which he slashed out... just to miss it too. No, the enemy didn’t just dodge his blood wing; he landed right on it!

’I’m dead...’

*Pang!*

*Ouch!*

Yet, death didn’t follow. Instead, all he felt was a huge headache! ...and a Divine Sense Message. ’If you attack me again, I’ll cut your fangs off. Let’s see how you feel if you lose those Celestial Laws of Blood of yours.’

Rifindio opened his eyes again. The one who attacked him was a groundhog, but the Divine Sense... ’Roan!’

Only then did he notice. Divine Sense can’t be spread, but what about direct contact? Sure enough, Roan and the others had noticed that as well. It was actually pretty obvious. There were regions where Divine Sense was blocked, but could still be used with direct contact, so why couldn’t it be used here? It’s just that, would you let anyone touch your body just to check if you were an ally? Of course not!

’H-How did you even find me?’ Rifindio couldn’t help but ask.

Rean approached, touching Rifindio as well. ’It’s actually pretty simple. Life Energy. In my eyes, no life energy feels the same. I just had to focus on the Light Element around and find yours.’

Rifindio sighed in relief. ’That’s good, that’s good...’

He understood the ’old lady’ was actually Rean, and obviously, the other two behind were Kentucky and Celis. ’So, what now?’

’What else?’ Roan coldly smiled, ’It is time to use these special traits of your bloodline to acquire some marks.’
