Days with the demon queen -
Chapter 28: Curse of defiance
Chapter 28: Curse of defiance
Samael emerged from the rubble and dark clouds. He had three pairs of large black wings sprouting out of his back. On his face, there were two extra pair of eyes under his actual eyes. Fangs protruded from his mouth and his silver hair grew longer. His eyes displayed a lifeless, soulless look behind them.
The people around them shook in fear, they started to run around haphazardly, trying to get out of them way. He didn’t pay attention to the distraction, he had his eyes locked on Lillith who was petrified by the sight she saw.
With the wave of a finger, Samael reduced the citizens blocking his line of vision to bloody bits. Lillith was enraged, she screamed out in frustration. Her hands trembled, but she pulled out her most powerful dark sword and charged towards Samael at the speed of sound.
He blocked her full on attack with a finger on the blade of the sword. Lillith’s eyes widened. She grit her teeth, planting her feet strongly in the ground which was already shattered by the force of their impact. Lillith pushed the sword down with all her might but Samael wasn’t fazed in the slightest. The bored expression on his face didn’t change. With a flick of his finger, he sent Lillith crashing into a building.
The demon generals didn’t interfere in the battle, it was the first time they had seen Samael in that form. The demonic aura around him blew everything away, making it impossible for anyone to get close to him.
Lillith’s comrades were surrounded by demons and ordered not to move. Aiden had taken some out but he was subdued. They were in no position to help out.
Lillith shot up from underneath all the debris. She attacked Samael again with even more speed than before. Her whole body, including the sword was covered in flames. She punched at Samael more times than he could react to. She had finally managed to land hits on him so she kept at it.
Lillith was rapidly getting exhausted. She struggled to breath. The flames had gone out, leaving her partly unclad.
Samael had multiple injuries. He was missing part of his skull, he had a hole through his chest.
"This won’t do" he finally spoke. His voice calm and threatening.
The demons around Aiden and the others started to turn pale and collapse, including some of the generals. Their demonic aura was being totally sucked away by Samael. In an instant, all his injuries healed. His horn grew longer.
In the blink of an eye, he sped towards Lillith, holding her by the chin with one hand, and holding her arm with the other. He slowly twisted her right arm and ripped it clean out of the socket. Lillith cried out in pain.
Ronnie couldn’t stomach the sight he was watching. He looked away and cover his eyes, attempting to deafen himself to her cries. Anissa, as well as the rest of Lillith’s comrades couldn’t hold their tears back.
Samael flung her in the sky, following her with top speed. He beat her bloody in the sky without even flinching.
"I hate this. I really hate this. Being so powerless. The commander will lose her life and none of us can do anything about. This kind of power, it’s not what we bargained for." Aiden said, clutching the helm of his sword tightly.
"We were prepared to face at least a superior demon. I don’t even know if we can call that thing a demon anymore. I don’t know what it is." Riya said, wincing in pain.
Rachael laid in her position, looking up in the sky with hope filled eyes.
"We have to believe in her, till the very last drop of her blood" Just as Rachael concluded, Lillith was flung to the ground right next to Anissa, a lifeless corpse.
"Co— mmander?" Anissa called out, reaching out her trembling hands to touch her.
"I do believe in her, more than anyone else. But we’ve lost. We’ve been beaten." Riya said to Rachael. She kept a straight face but her voice trembled.
"I’ll kill him. I swear I’ll kill him" Aiden yelled. He grabbed his sword tightly and charged at Samael, he struck as many blows as he could but none got past Samael’s protective barrier.
Aiden’s sword broke, He threw it aside and hit the barrier directly with his hands. This caused his two arms to shatter. The repeated impact against the barrier pushed Aiden back. He staggered, blood dripped down his hands and mouth.
"You’re becoming a disturbance. I’ll be taking care of you now" Samael spoke softly, wearing the same emotionless expression.
He clenched his fist and drove it towards Aiden’s heart. His fist connected, there was a moment of silence. When Riya and Rachael looked at the scene, they saw a heartbreaking sight.
Aiden who shut his eyes tightly in acceptance of his death opened them to find that he wasn’t dead. Anissa stood before him, trembling with Samael’s fist driven from her back all the way out the her chest.
"Ani—ssa" Aiden called out in shock.
Anissa gave him a wide smile.
,"Why — why does your smile look so genuine? Why do your eyes look so happy?!" Aiden screamed. Samael pulled his fist out and she bleed out of her mouth.
"Because, I was finally able to not be s coward. To— protect— just like a— big sister sh—" Anissa fell to her knees.
"You were never a coward, Anissa. You’re the strongest person I know. I just — I just wanted you to be able to stand up for yourself, in case there was ever a day I couldn’t protect you" Aiden cried, he knelt as well so she could rest her head on his shoulder.
"I only said those things to you because I love you. You’re my only family, please — please don’t leave me sister" Aiden’s voice shook. Anissa put her hand on his cheek, wiping away the tears.
"I know. my beautiful, strong little brother, don’t— cr—" Anissa’s hand dropped and she went silent. She stopped moving.
"Sister? Anissa please don’t. Please don’t leave me" Aiden wept bitterly.
"didn’t you say you were going to kill me?" Samael asked. For the first time since his transformation, his expression had changed. He wore a mocking smile.
Riya and Rachael slowly made their way over to Aiden, their wounds were reopening as they struggled to move.
"You sick fiend! if you’re going to kill him, you’ll have to kill us all" Riya yelled.
"That, I can do" Samael responded.
He stretched out a finger at Aiden and a sword came piercing through Anissa again but this time, it pierced Aiden’s heart. Aiden coughed up blood.
The siblings fell to the ground, their arms wrapped around each other.
"No!" Rachael yelled.
"It’s your turn" Samael said. As he approached Riya and Rachael, a hand held his leg from behind. Lillith’s hand. She looked at him with eyes filled with tears and hatred.
"you don’t know when to give up do you? why won’t you die?" Samael asked, stomping her head into the ground multiple times but she kept bringing it back up.
"Commander!" Riya yelled out.
Lillith winced in pain, not letting go of his leg as he stomped her head, shattering her nose.
"I—remember—now. I— know who I am—" she said.
"oh? and who might that be?" Samael asked mockingly.
"Lillith Daystar. The first human woman created by the creator. I was—cursed" Lillith whispered.
"Upon me the creator placed, the curse of defiance. For as long as I draw breath, I will continue to defy you!" Lillith yelled. A sudden surge of demonic aura sent Samael crashing into several fortresses.
Lillith levitated above the ground. Her jet black hair had grown longer and turned blond, her ruby colored eyes glowed brighter. Her horns grew larger, her missing limb had regenerated.
Lillith chased after Samael, landing repeated blows on him. She pulled out each of his wings one after the other. The fight had become one sided. She hit him again in the other direction and he went crashing into the ground, next to Anissa and Aiden’s bodies.
Lillith pulled out a spear from her arsenal, tossing it in the air. It impaled Samael to the ground.
Just then, a large magic circle appeared around Anissa and Aiden. It was siphoning off his demonic aura into Anissa’s corpse.
"She activated it before she died?!" Rachael asked.
"Those kids—" Riya said.
"Without anywhere for all that energy to go, it’ll just spread back to him!" Rachael said.
"I already have solution to that problem" Riya said.
Meanwhile Lillith pushed the spear deeper into Samael in anger even if she knew he couldn’t die. He reverted back to the form he had before.
Anissa’s corpse started to levitate. The energy was pulling it apart. Riya made it to her just on time. She pulled down to corpse and petrified both Anissa and Aiden. The magic circle closed and Samael passed out.
Lillith continued to stab him with the spear multiple times while crying her heart out.
"Commander! Commander!" Riya called out, limping over to her.
"That’s enough!" Riya yelled, hugging her from behind.
Lillith struggled before finally letting go of the spear and dropping her arms. She cried bitterly.
"We won. It’s over now." Riya articulated softly, trying to hold back her tears.
"At what costs Riya? At what costs. I couldn’t protect the kids. I gave them my word" she cried.
Ronnie’s vision faded. He opened his eyes to see himself back in his room, Lillith had tears streaming down her face, so did he.
