Days with the demon queen -
Chapter 27: Showdown
Chapter 27: Showdown
"what’s going on up there?!" Aiden yelled as they kept running and bulldozing low level demons out of their path.
"I think — I think the commander got caught up in trouble" Anissa said.
"If the general isn’t here— Lillith has been ambushed!" Riya said, her eyes widening.
"We need to go back. We can’t just leave the commander behind to fight alone" Aiden said.
"She’s a lot more powerful than you give her credit for." Rachael said, trying to mask her anxiety.
"We still have to go back. I stand with the kid on this one" Riya said, halting.
"What about the plan? She gave us strict orders to follow" Anissa said.
"There is no plan without the commander, Anissa. I’m sure even you understand that" Riya said.
"Enough contemplation" Aiden had already started sprinting back in the direction they came from. Although still hesitant and unsure the rest of them followed closely behind him, they followed the sound of the rumblings and chaos shaking the entire fortress.
Eventually, they found themselves back at Samael’s chambers. The mighty doors were blown to bits. Some parts of the wall was shattered to reveal the reddish dark skies that plagued the demon realm.
The sight they found was Lillith being pummeled to a pulp by Samael without using any magic or effort. Xander laid on the floor underneath the debris of the shattered walls.
They hid out of sight amidst the distraction.
"Alright. This is what we’ll do. The first plan is out the window. New plan is to subdue that fiend as quick as we can so that Anissa can drain off his power" Riya commanded.
"How do we even manage that? Isn’t he an invincible being?" Anissa asked.
"If he was invincible, he would not have a scar through his right eye and a slashed horn" Rachael said.
"That’s right. If he was all powerful he wouldn’t surround himself with troops of low class demons and mid class demons as generals. He’s just a failed tyrant" Riya concurred.
"Anissa, you stay out of sight till you find the right moment to strike. Use this time to draw the magic circle" Riya said.
"Understood" Anissa nodded but she had a look of worry on her face.
"Anissa. We’ll all walk out of this alive" Rachael assured with a small smile drawn across her lips.
"Let’s get to it" Aiden said.
They entered the room, surrounding Samael.
"Oh? you all came back for your general? I find that really heart warming. The love between you all shows" Samael mocked.
"I— told you all to leave— the— fort—" a bloodied Lillith struggled to articulate.
"No warrior is left behind!" Riya said.
At this point Ronnie became unable to move. He was crippled by the horror of watching a person beat down Lillith the way Samael did.
Aiden moved at top speed, slashing Samael countless times but he didn’t so as flinch.
"Out of the way!" Riya yelled.
Aiden moved out immediately and she summoned a thunder storm by placing a magic circle directly over his head. Her attacks were futile as well.
Rachael used a magic circle to enhance her strength. Landing a couple of punches on him. One of the punches pushed his feet back.
Aiden took advantage of the distraction to pull Lillith out of the way.
"Impressive, I’ll show you what real attacks are like" Samael grinned wickedly.
He moved too fast for their eyes to catch. He caught Rachael by the hand, tossing her against the wall so hard that her back snapped. Rachael cried out in pain.
"Rachael!" Riya yelled. Attacking Samael with a strong barrage of lightening that brought him to his knees. His suit and shirt were torn off, leaving him with the pair of black trousers he had on.
Samael cackled maniacally as the lightening bolts hit his skin.
"The last time I got this excited was my fight with sister! I have to thank you all for giving me this much fun!" He yelled.
The way he moved changed, he became erratic. He drew out a crooked looking dagger from a magic circle, closing in on Riya instantly and stabbing her in the gut multiple times. This made her break concentration, the magic circle broke. Riya was on her knees, she tried to gather the strength to breath as blood seeped out of her mouth.
"Who’s next?" He asked. Anissa put her hand over her mouth, crying at the thought that her premonition was coming to pass
Tears rolled down Lillith’s eyes as she looked around her. She whispered to Aiden and pushed him aside. He looked hesitant but she shot him an intimidating look and he nodded his head in agreement.
Lillith stood up, with all her might she dashed at Samael again, hitting him harder than before. Her whole body slowly became engulfed in flames as she fought him. Samael laughed, he was getting a kick out of the violence. Aiden utilizing his speed, he grabbed Rachael who was left paralyzed and Riya who was incapacitated she took them to the spot behind all of the debris where his sister hid.
"Now is not the time to cry, Anissa. We’re ditching that plan. Open a transportation circle now!"
"To where?!" Anissa asked, she was panicking.
"Anywhere that isn’t here!" Aiden yelled in response.
"And the commander?" She asked.
"You never do anything right! If you don’t want your fears coming to pass then I suggest your create the damn circle!" Aiden had lost his patience.
Anissa created the circle. Aiden jumped in while carrying both women on each shoulder. Anissa jumped in as well and closed the circle behind her.
They ended up just outside the fortress in the midst of citizens of the capital looking up in the sky, gasping in awe.
When Anissa looked up, she saw different layers of magic circles stacked on each other just above Samael’s fortress.
"The commander’s brilliant plan was blowing herself up with that thing?!" Anissa asked.
"She gave the command, I trust that she has a plan for getting out of there" Aiden said.
"And if she doesn’t?" Anissa asked.
Aiden kept silent looking in the sky with terrified eyes.
When Lillith confirmed that her comrades had all left the building as instructed, she smiled and took few leaps back from Samael.
"You have already lost. We win this battle" Lillith said. She leaped out of the hole in the wall and held her hand out, as she squeezed her fists, the magic circles collapsed into each other, causing a chain reaction.
A clueless Samael stood in the fortress, raising his eyebrow in confusion. The blast shot from the peak of the fortress, destroying every single brick till it was reduced to rubble. Anissa shielded the surrounding citizens with a magic circle that she could barely keep up with one hand. With her other hand, she opened a magic circle beneath Lillith who was falling and channeled it lower to the ground. As Lillith fell through, Aiden caught her, preventing her from biting the ground with that impact.
There was sudden silence after Anissa lifted the protective barrier. Riya had healed herself just enough to stop her bleeding, Rachael healed her back just enough to make minimal movements.
"Aiden, put me down" Lillith instructed and Aiden did just that.
They had moved around the rubble for a couple of seconds, till Lillith spotted Samael, beneath the rubble, he was burnt to a crisp. She could only tell it was him due to the his horns.
"We— we won" Lillith articulated, she wore a shocked expression on her face.
"We won?! We won!" Aiden cried out.
Rachael and Riya could barely stand, they rested against the debris with relieved smiles.
"The commander actually did it. She killed an unkillable being" Anissa said, letting out a relieved sigh.
The citizens gathered around the rubble, mumbling in confusion.
"People of the capital!" Lillith called out, making them to turn their attention to her.
"I know what you see before you is unbelievable, but it’s very true. Samael’s reign of terror is over. We won! We’re all free!" Lillith said. There was silence following her speech, then the citizens went wild with celebration and cheers.
Samael’s generals and the rest of his troops were present but they were all left speechless by what they just witnessed.
"You talk too much. Did you actually think you best me?!" A voice came from within the rubble, leaving every demon present in shock.
"It— can’t be. No one can survive a shot like that at point blank range" Aiden said. They all were horrified.
Samael shot out of the rubble and into the crowd uninjured. He was unclad.
Lillith’s widened eyes showed disbelief. She couldn’t move.
"It’s high time I got serious" Samael said.
He started to undergo a transformation. Dark clouds covered where he stood, when they dispersed, he was seen with a grotesque new look. He looked monstrous.
