Chapter 4781: Chapter 3854: The School Doctor’s "Daily Routine" (32)
A blood-red mouth suddenly lunged at them without warning. Several Batmen quickly scattered, only to see a towering plant about four meters high, with a leaf diameter of over a meter, snapping its bloody maw at them.
Primary Universe Batman immediately realized that this was likely a magical plant modeled after the illustration guide he had written. After all, he believed that the Magic Forest couldn’t be completely safe and that there must be some aggressive plants. So he intentionally added a few dangerous ones.
As for why this man-eating flower suddenly went berserk, it was definitely Night Owl’s handiwork, but there was no time to dwell on that. They needed to deal with this man-eating flower first.
Though running away seemed like a good option, Primary Universe Batman knew that this plant could uproot itself and chase them down, and it wasn’t slow either. If it caught up, it would be even more troublesome, so they had to find a way to defeat it.
Luckily, they were many. There were five Batmen in total, and one of them was especially powerful. Moreover, they could now do more than just throw Batarangs; they could use wands and fly, making it much easier to tackle such a towering plant.
The distance to the cabin wasn’t far now, and their commotion obviously hadn’t escaped Shiller’s notice. He knew that this couldn’t be an unexpected twist in Primary Universe Batman’s plan; it must have been a counterattack by Night Owl. But did he really think a magical plant could take on these Batmen?
Anyone who had fought Arkham Batman would know this was impossible. At best, it could only stall them for a while, or even increase their vigilance due to the sudden attack, potentially backfiring.
But Shiller quickly realized that Night Owl was leveraging the commotion to summon Saphire, hoping he’d come to the cabin quickly to erase any traces.
Understanding this, Shiller chuckled. Night Owl was truly courting death. He didn’t consider that such a vicious Black Magician like Saphire wouldn’t fear a few students.
Night Owl knew how powerful Batman was, but Saphire didn’t. From his perspective, they were just a few kids who had only recently learned magic. Wouldn’t eliminating them directly be faster than sneaking around?
As I said, he dared to dig out secret chambers right under the Supreme Magician’s nose and brazenly establish a hideout in the Magic Forest, having terrorized the magical world for centuries. Even the Supreme Magician couldn’t fully destroy him, only seal him. Such a villain has no concept of a guilty conscience; anyone daring to pry into his secrets would be killed.
"Gray Mist," Shiller called out.
Actually, there was no need for him to say it, as Gray Mist was already prepared. It donned Saphire’s black cloak and turned into a gray mist, appearing on the battlefield almost instantly.
At this point, the Batmen had swiftly dealt with the man-eating flower. Arkham Batman delivered a downward chop, causing the towering plant to crash down.
Just as the Batmen breathed a sigh of relief, they suddenly sensed something amiss—the silence was too absolute. The usual wind and insect noises around them vanished in an instant.
Suddenly, they saw the plants in one direction rapidly wither and die; the scene of decay approached from afar, reaching them almost instantly. A black-robed figure abruptly appeared in mid-air.
Even Primary Universe Batman and Night Owl were taken aback, stepping back two steps.
Why are you here?!
It was only at this point that he realized he had made a huge mistake—Saphire was never a sneaky thief, but a brazen robber. He was more fearless than expected, even seeing the Magic Forest as his domain.
Wait, Night Owl suddenly realized. Did the Supreme Magician warn them that the Magic Forest was extremely dangerous and forbid entry because he knew Saphire was active here?
No way... Night Owl’s heart started to sink. If the Supreme Magician knew about Saphire and allowed this to happen, there were only two possibilities: they were either allies, or the Supreme Magician couldn’t handle Saphire either.
Either scenario meant disaster for them because it was clear Saphire did not intend to hide; he preferred to eliminate witnesses.
"Are you Strange’s students?" A voice came from beneath the black robe, "What are you doing here? Don’t you know how dangerous it is?"
The tone sounded calm, even a bit like an elder’s concern, but the Batmen’s hearts were in their throats. Their intuition told them this person was extremely dangerous.
Even Primary Universe Batman was a bit baffled: who was this mysterious figure suddenly appearing?
Wait, the Supreme Magician may be a character from movies, but he exists in reality too. Could it be that Saphire is real?
But he quickly dismissed this idea because even if Saphire existed, the Supreme Magician would never allow him into the school. The superheroes wouldn’t let such a dangerous person operate this close to Boston. Most importantly, Shiller wouldn’t allow it—no matter his capabilities, this person couldn’t appear here.
If it’s not Saphire, then someone is impersonating him. But who would be foolish enough to...
Primary Universe Batman’s body froze. Could it be Shiller?
Primary Universe Batman’s gaze quickly swept to Night Owl’s face. Seeing his initial panic and clumsiness, he knew Night Owl must have had previous contact with this person.
That must be Shiller for sure. Because it was him who guided Night Owl to pester Shiller, Shiller might have used a disguise to not expose too much, and that disguise is Saphire.
So, Night Owl made a ruckus to attract his collaborator. Unfortunately, he misjudged Shiller’s understanding of his character. The Primary Universe Batman, having understood the movie setting, knows that this Black Magician, who only appeared as a background in the first part, is very arrogant, because he made a pact with Hell’s Master Mephisto and fought the Supreme Magician to a standstill for three hundred rounds. How could such a person possibly scurry off to hide traces at the first sight of an invader?
It seems the pressure he exerted was quite effective. Primary Universe Batman thought to himself, Night Owl had little sanity left, so much so that his mind became unclear, and he started making mistake after mistake.
Night Owl clearly regretted it too. He didn’t think that just because he had a cooperative relationship with Saphire, the other party would go easy on him. If he doesn’t do something, he won’t need to do anything.
Now in Batman’s team, Primary Universe Batman, Arkham Batman, and Big Adventure Batman had watched the movie. Their intelligence and level of information gathering were about the same, what they could deduce was also similar. They quickly exchanged a look and decided to continue playing this scene.
"Who are you and why are you in the Magic Forest?" Primary Universe Batman’s tone was cautious, but his attitude was very justified, as if a host questioning a guest.
Night Owl’s heart leapt to his throat. Oh god, if you want to die, can’t you do it alone? Do you really fear he won’t kill you?
"Did you bring them here? Night Owl." He noticed the other’s gaze shift to him, and simultaneously, all the Batmen also turned their gaze to him.
This immense pressure nearly crushed him instantly. But Night Owl still braced himself and made a choice internally.
"No, sir. You need to hear me out..."
"Night Owl!!!" Big Adventure Batman stepped up and roared, "What the hell is going on?! Why do you know him?! Are you trying to trick us here and then kill us?!"
"Hmph, that’s definitely it." Arkham Batman said coldly, "Otherwise, why would that bald eagle fly in this direction? And why did the carnivorous plants suddenly attack us? You deceived us by playing on our desire to save our comrade and lured us in, to team up with this mysterious man against us. You despicable scoundrel!"
Night Owl was genuinely about to die of grievance.
In the past, when people called him a scoundrel, it was secretly gratifying, and in private, he ridiculed these stereotypical and outdated Batmen, who, just for pursuing those imaginary justices, ended up in such dire straits.
Normally, at this point, he should step forward confidently to explain his scheme, and by the way, mock his opponents.
But the problem is, he really didn’t do any of this! Firstly, Lego Batman getting snatched by the eagle had nothing to do with him at all; secondly, he never intended to trick Batman in here to kill them; lastly, he wasn’t even familiar with Saphire.
In the series of events that occurred today, not a single bad thing was done by him. How did this pile of crap end up on his head?!
But he also knew inside, things really looked too much like what those two Batmen were saying, even Injustice Batman’s gaze toward him had a hint of surprise and admiration, as if marveling at his intelligence, amazed that he really buried three Batmen here with a scheme.
Thinking this, Night Owl realized. Right, the problem now is that as long as Saphire doesn’t kill him, kills the other Batmen, then his goal is achieved.
He painstakingly engaged in schemes and learned black magic just to defeat the Primary Universe Batman, didn’t he?
No matter who concocted the scheme, as long as the Black Magician floating in front of him smacks the Primary Universe Batman to death, he’s succeeded, and won’t have to worry anymore.
Thinking this, Night Owl gritted his teeth and stomped his foot, saying to Shiller floating in mid-air: "Sir, indeed, I brought them here. Because when you explained the pact to me that day, you mentioned sacrifices. I thought, to show my sincerity, I could offer the sacrifice in advance. As long as you are willing to help me fulfill the pact..."
"Are you negotiating terms with me?"
"No, you can also consider this as a gift. After all, if I can trick them, I can deceive more people. They are all students of the Supreme Magician."
The Primary Universe Batman sneered silently in his heart. This Night Owl was indeed boundlessly evil. What he meant by those words was that if not used as sacrifices, they could be taken as hostages, and at the same time, humiliate the Supreme Magician severely. With words spoken to this extent, it seemed the opposing party had no reason to refuse.
But Shiller didn’t play the game by the rules. He only said with a tone laced with a hint of laughter: "You seem to have misunderstood something. I have no hostility toward your principal, nor would I harm his students. After all, he has somewhat provided me refuge."
Night Owl felt cold sweat breaking out. He didn’t quite understand what Saphire meant by that. How could he possibly not be enemies with the Supreme Magician? And how could the Supreme Magician provide him refuge? How could the two of them possibly be in league?
No, if he and the Supreme Magician are in league, then from the start, he wouldn’t have accepted his cooperation. After all, their condition of cooperation was that he would cause trouble for the Supreme Magician. Seems there’s something unknown to him in this matter.
Meanwhile, the Primary Universe Batman increasingly grew curious about the full script. What role exactly was Shiller playing as this major villain?
