Chapter 4759: Chapter 3832: The School Doctor’s "Daily Routine" (10)

Bruce, like Lego Batman, "whooshed" up to the chandelier, but unlike Lego Batman, he wasn’t so small in stature. He was a normal-sized adult, after all, and he slammed into the chandelier, knocking it down directly.

The large chandelier with many magic candles was nearly three meters in diameter, not lightweight, and had numerous sharp decorations. The castle ceiling was especially high, and falling from five or six meters high, it was practically a perfect murder weapon.

The Batmen ran away quickly, "whoosh," and they all vanished. So Shiller watched as that huge chandelier fell towards him. With everyone gone, without even a shield, he could only turn into gray mist to evade.

Once he landed, he noticed several Batmen looking at him strangely. It was only then that Shiller remembered most Batmen didn’t know he had superpowers.

Shiller wasn’t expecting them to differentiate between symbionts and superpowers. But even if it’s a symbiont, gray mist looks rather sinister. Who among the good guys would transform into a cloud of gray mist?

But Shiller didn’t want to explain now. The huge chandelier "crashed" onto the hospital ward’s floor, directly smashing the two beds in the middle along with the floor. Bruce lay beside it; although the Holy Light protected him from physical harm, the mental trauma was evidently severe.

"Alright, now, those injured stay, the rest get out!" Shiller chased everyone away, including Mephisto. Although letting him leave with Batman wasn’t a good idea, keeping him there would further confuse Bruce mentally.

"Who on earth is that?!" Bruce was evidently questioning life at this point, staring tightly at Shiller, who was on the phone with the principal.

Shiller said to Strange on the other end, "Indeed, there are too many Batmen here. The chandelier was knocked down by them, and now the floor is damaged, so we need someone to fix it."

"I could barely restore it, but since it’s made with magic materials, achieving perfect restoration would be difficult. We’ll need professional workers. Have they all returned to Kamar-Taj?"

"Alright, I’ll try to repair it myself. But this ward can’t be used for now... I’ll move the beds to another ward. Hopefully, there won’t be too many patients."

After hanging up, Bruce continued staring at Shiller intently. Shiller sat on the opposite bed and said to him, "Your understanding of psychology has somewhat improved. That indeed wasn’t me, but you’d best not provoke him either. I mean, if he comes to provoke you, you’d best refuse."

Bruce exhaled deeply and said, "I actually guessed right! I figured that guy seemed like a regular person, scared me a lot. I thought I saw a ghost in broad daylight..."

Shiller rolled his eyes dramatically, walked towards the door, and gestured near his eyes, making a "you’re blind" sign.

The Batmen and Mephisto left together. Although some Batmen intended to chat with Mephisto for intel, the Primary Universe Batman left without looking back. Arkham Batman followed him. Some felt strange about Primary Universe Batman’s attitude and, after much consideration, didn’t approach Mephisto hastily and went back to their classes.

They soon finished their morning classes and headed to the cafeteria for lunch. Over lunch, Arkham Batman asked Primary Universe Batman, "When leaving the hospital, why did you walk so quickly? Not going to chat more with that other-universe Shiller Doctor?"

"That’s not Shiller," Primary Universe Batman said.

Arkham Batman frowned slightly, pausing with his fork in hand, then said, "But he’s acquainted with the hospital’s Shiller Doctor, shouldn’t be impersonating him, right?"

"How do you know he isn’t?" Primary Universe Batman took a spoonful of clam chowder and replied.

"Then why would Shiller Doctor permit an imposter’s existence?"

"Maybe he admires his courage, or perhaps he can’t stop him. Whichever it may be, it indicates this person is highly dangerous. Best not to contact him for now."

"But Night Owl..." Arkham Batman said worriedly, "When leaving the hospital, the two of them seemed to be chatting well. I’m worried they might gather some intel."

"Let them probe first," Primary Universe Batman said, "Bruce’s reaction reveals some aspects too. He’s the Batman most familiar with Shiller in the multiverse, and his reaction is substantial, not just a mental breakdown."

Mentioning Bruce, Arkham Batman didn’t seem pleased. He said, "He better not be. If he dare disrupt things again, I’ll break his ribs."

Just as they were saying this, several people walked through the cafeteria’s front door; it was Night Owl, Mephisto, and Injustice Batman. They entered and stood at the front door for a while, seemingly choosing seats. But arriving late meant no good seats were available.

Bruce sat near the end of the seats alone, in the middle of a row of empty seats. Seeing the Night Owl group approaching, he hurriedly picked up his plate, and with a fork in mouth, swiftly changed his seat.

Night Owl glared at his actions with some discontent. Bruce left without even giving him a glance. He chose a new seat and sat down, realizing Mephisto wanted to sit opposite him, he quickly scooted a few more seats over. Mephisto seemed a bit resigned.

Primary Universe Batman watched Bruce’s actions, firmly confirming his suspicion: this person identical to Shiller wasn’t Shiller, and likely had considerable importance.

When they returned to the dormitory after dinner, the students of Mercury College and Neptune Academy saw a new notice on the bulletin board in the common room: lunch break is canceled to make up for the class missed in the morning.

No one had objections because it was just a practice class in the morning, missed due to a fight. Now it’s best to make it up.

Everyone tidied up and went to the classroom. This class was still taught by Wanda, but due to concerns about unexpected situations, Strange was there to assist. He sat next to the podium, scanning every Batman’s face with sharp eyes, to stop any trouble from the very first moment.

Wanda, at least, wasn’t that nervous anymore. She started with an opening speech, then took out her magic wand from the box and said:

"This is a magical little stick filled with magic energy. When you pick it up, you’ll feel connected to the natural elements. Now, everyone pick up the magic wand in front of you."

The students opened the box in front of them, took out the magic wand, and held it in their hands, then quietly felt it as Wanda said.

In reality, none of the Batmen were feeling it. The first thing they did when they got the magic wand was study its structure.

"What do you think?" Arkham Batman asked Primary Universe Batman.

"There’s no special structure; it’s indeed just a stick," Primary Universe Batman said, "Although it looks like walnut wood, I’m sure it’s not any type of wood we’ve seen before, probably some kind of magic material."

"I agree. Even without testing instruments, I can feel there’s indeed some special energy in this little stick, with temperature and quality different from ordinary wood."

"I think it should be cultivated on purpose." Big Adventure Batman joined in, "Perhaps during the plant’s growth, it’s influenced by magic to achieve energy affinity. This is quite an engineering project."

"But it’s a good method." Primary Universe Batman said, "I’m sure the Grand Mages don’t use magic this way; it’s entirely for cultivating Little Wizards. It’s certainly safer than contracting demons at the age of 8."

"Do you think over there..."

"Now it seems impossible." Primary Universe Batman sighed, "For the mages in our universe, magic energy is too precious. There’s absolutely no way they would use the energy obtained from trading their innards or bones to cultivate newcomers."

"So the issue still lies with the contracts." Primary Universe Batman said, "The Supreme Magician doesn’t allow students in the school to make contact with devils before graduation, so if we want to understand the contract model here, we must find another way."

"Do you think the library might have hints?" Big Adventure Batman said, "When we found Night Owl in the library, they seemed to be looking for something in the restricted section. Could there be knowledge about contracts there?"

"I think we can go check." Arkham Batman said, "Tonight, we’ll go."

Primary Universe Batman didn’t speak, just continued to stare at the little stick in his hand. At this moment, Wanda began explaining how to use the magic wand:

"Once you feel the energy in the stick, you’ll need to find a way to output this energy. Once you can freely control magic energy, of course, you can do as you wish and make things happen. But if you only use the magic wand, what you can do with magic energy is very limited, because the wand can only be activated by certain spells. The first thing I will teach you is the Cleaning Magic for cleaning yourselves. Pick up the wand and follow me in reciting..."

Everyone picked up the wand, recited the spell with Wanda, and pointed the wand at the box containing the wand. With a flash of magic light, the box in front was instantly cleaned.

As the little stick released magic, all the Batmen felt a very strange sensation, as if the soul connected with some kind of energy, extending another pair of arms, and they could even perfectly feel every detail of the magic energy touching the box and cleaning the dust off it. It was an unusual sense beyond the five senses.

"I suppose you all have felt it." Wanda said, "In the next lessons, I will teach you how to turn magic energy into your eyes, arms, and even wings. Traveling the magical world is a wonderful thing; you will like it."

Many young students cheered, even after class ended, gathering in the hallway discussing excitedly, clearly anticipative of the beautiful future Wanda depicted.

The Batmen, however, appeared somewhat silent. Their performance today was quite good, none of them failed, but a gloomy atmosphere lingered among them, each appearing somewhat thoughtful.

"Perhaps the threshold for magic should be higher." Big Adventure Batman spoke more straightforwardly, "They make magic sound too simple and beautiful. Are those devils really easy to deal with?"

He voiced almost all the Batmen’s worries. Everything in the magical school resembles a beautiful dream, but the essence of magic is borrowing. This fundamentally uncontrollable transaction method, where humans barely have any initiative, how could it be as beautiful as the school presents?

These naive students, after experiencing the power and convenience of magic, are likely not to consider what kind of price they must pay for such strong power. When contracting devils, will they not pay a painful price?

"The Supreme Magician is a bit difficult." Primary Universe Batman said, "Let’s start with the Professors. Today’s Professor Wanda seems to have a good temper. I’ll arrange to talk to her after dinner."
