Chapter 63: Chapter 32: Secretly Implement a Crafty Plan to Slay Xuan Guang (Part 1)
"Daoist Zhang, since your Immortal Veins have already been opened, we can now leave," Luo Xiao tilted her head slightly to discern the commotion outside, finding no one approaching. Evidently, this was the perfect chance to leave in silence.
However, Zhang Yan slowly and firmly shook his head, saying, "We cannot leave yet."
Luo Xiao was taken aback and asked, "Why not?"
Zhang Yan’s expression grew stern, as he replied in a deep tone, "Du You failed to open his meridians this time. When he returns, he will undoubtedly search for the culprit. Should he discover that I succeeded in Opening Meridians, suspicion will arise, and should he dig deeper, the matter may be exposed. Therefore..." His voice turned chillingly cold, "We must eliminate every one of them here without exception!"
His words were brimming with murderous intent, making Luo Xiao’s heart momentarily shiver. But upon second thought, she found Zhang Yan’s suggestion unrealistic. She sighed and advised, "Daoist Zhang, though your concerns are not unfounded, this course of action is far too precarious to pursue. Not to mention Du Bo himself, even the ten Powerful Warriors by his side, along with the two Ming Qi Stage cultivators, are opponents far beyond what the two of us can contend with."
Zhang Yan’s eyes glinted as he said, "What if Du Bo were alone?"
Luo Xiao paused, furrowed her brows in thought, and hesitated before responding, "If Du Bo were alone... he is likely exhausted and weakened now; it’s uncertain how much combat strength he has left. However, if we can deplete him further for two more days, relying on the two new Dharma Treasures in my possession, I might be able to fight him. The only issue is the twelve others aiding him..."
She shook her head, feeling the prospect was slim.
Upon hearing her words, Zhang Yan chuckled lightly and clapped his hands gently, saying, "In my eyes, these twelve men are of no concern."
Luo Xiao sighed softly, then looked at Zhang Yan with a serious expression and said, "Daoist Zhang, though you have broken the Golden Lock and successfully breached the Opening Meridians stage, these twelve are not mere clay chickens and pottery dogs to be underestimated. It cannot be as simple as cutting them down at will, especially the two Ming Qi Stage cultivators—whose cultivation level surpasses yours. We have no chance of victory!"
Zhang Yan smiled faintly and said, "Daoist Luo, do not be anxious. I have a plan. Without us lifting a finger, we can borrow Du Bo’s hand to eliminate these twelve men!"
Luo Xiao was wholly unconvinced but, upon seeing Zhang Yan’s unwaveringly confident smile, she couldn’t help but ask, "Let’s hear it?"
Zhang Yan said, "Lean closer."
Luo Xiao glared at him with a hint of reproach in her beautiful eyes, and after brushing aside her hair strands, she brought her smooth jade-like ear closer to Zhang Yan.
Zhang Yan whispered a few words in her ear. At first, Luo Xiao’s expression was indifferent, but it gradually turned hesitant and uncertain. In the end, she furrowed her brows in silence, doubting whether Zhang Yan’s method would work.
Zhang Yan, however, was full of confidence and stated, "Follow my instructions, and there shall be no mistakes."
Luo Xiao took note of Zhang Yan’s assured demeanor, bit her lip, and stomped her foot. Reluctantly, she decided, "I’ll trust you this time. At worst, I’ll accompany you in death—we’ll be a pair of fateful lovebirds!"
Zhang Yan laughed and said, "When Daoist Luo previously addressed me as ’Daoist,’ perhaps there was some reluctance, but now, that title sounds genuinely heartfelt."
Luo Xiao rolled her eyes at him.
Zhang Yan spoke with a relaxed tone, "Lovebirds may be wonderful, but how can they compare to the carefree delight of an Immortal? Rest assured, Daoist Luo—I certainly wouldn’t plot harm against myself, would I?"
Luo Xiao let out a faint snort and walked over to Du You’s side, unlocking the sealed Qi Veins across his body one by one. She then turned her back to him and pressed a golden dagger against his throat.
After being unconscious for two days, Du You finally began to awaken. As soon as he opened his eyes, he immediately jolted in fright and evidently realized the predicament he was in.
Feeling the golden dagger against his throat yet unable to see the face of the person holding it, his body instantly began to tremble uncontrollably, like a leaf in the wind. With terror in his voice, he said, "I am a member of the Du Family of Helin. May I ask who Your Excellency is? If there’s something you desire, my Du Family will certainly fulfill your wishes."
Luo Xiao coldly replied, "Oh, fulfill my wishes, will you? Then tell me—are there any secret techniques within your family for Opening Meridians outside the standard spell taught?"
Du You’s body shuddered violently, and he hesitated. Although the secret techniques weren’t the spell itself, they were unique teachings passed on orally by elders within the family, aiding in the success of Opening Meridians. These techniques were the foundational secrets of a sect or clan’s survival, not to be shared with outsiders.
Luo Xiao noticed his silence and pressed the golden dagger further into his neck. Blood flowed immediately, and Du You jumped in fright. After all, he was merely a young man who had never experienced such a dire situation—dreaming of immortality and endless life, he certainly didn’t wish to lose his life in such a baffling manner. In a panic, he hurriedly said, "Don’t move, don’t move! I’ll talk, I’ll talk..."
"If what you say is false, you know the consequences!"
Du You dared not act dishonestly. He instantly revealed everything he knew, as though spilling beans from a bamboo tube.
Luo Xiao, following Zhang Yan’s prior instructions, asked many unrelated and deceptive questions. Feeling unsure of her true intentions and ignorant of their identities, Du You didn’t dare lie or conceal even the slightest detail.
