Chapter 403: Chapter 403 : A Night At Wushan Temple (2)
Spend the night at Wushan Temple?
Embarrassment spread across Qiao Wei’s face in the form of crimson shades.
"We can’t do anything," Qiao Wei warned his husband, just in case Zhang Fengxi planned to do something indecent during his stay.
Given the prospect of actually sleeping with his wife on the same bed, Zhang Fengxi actively displayed his agreeable, cooperative side.
"I won’t. I just want to sleep with you in my arms," Zhang Fengxi promised as he raised one of Qiao Wei’s hands to his lips and peppered it with little kisses.
"..."
The tiger was too slick.
Qiao Wei did not trust Zhang Fengxi at all in this aspect. After all, this was the husband who took the chance to bed him within two hours after he returned.
Under the guise of dual cultivation to recover his memory, but still.
Qiao Wei pushed Zhang Fengxi away out of shame.
They were married with two children. Thinking back, how could he just climb into bed with Zhang Fengxi so easily?
How shameless!
How vulgar!
How indecent!
"Jianbao..."
Zhang Fengxi was not one to give up.
He started seducing his wife with his charm, hoping that it was enough to move Qiao Wei’s heart.
"Baby, it has been so long," he begged. "Five years. I will not even undress you. I promise."
"..."
Undeniably, Qiao Wei too missed lying in Zhang Fengxi’s arms at night.
Like his husband claimed, it had been so long since they slept together. Too long.
"Just one night," Qiao Wei reluctantly agreed in a small voice that betrayed his innermost desire.
"Yes, just one night," Zhang Fengxi promised before he restrained Qiao Wei on the bed and smothered him with more kisses.
"Ah..."
Qiao Wei moaned when Zhang Fengxi kissed down the side of his neck and sucked at a select spot just above his shoulder.
As the night deepened, shadows lengthened and yawns stretched. Qiao Wei had the good sense of lowering the curtain around the bed, just in case someone caught them on the bed together.
That was a wise precautionary step, because Bai Ling had the habit of bursting into Qiao Wei’s door without knocking.
After consoling herself the entire night, the sect leader’s daughter decided to dismiss Qiao Wei’s cold attitude as a side effect of his horrifying experience at Mount E’ling.
Acting like nothing happened the previous night, she thus appeared at Qiao Wei’s doorstep in the morning, carrying a tray of sumptuous breakfast to enjoy on the bed as a peace offering.
"Wei Wei?" The young woman called out after pushing the door open. When she poked her head through the door, a series of unpredictable events took place on the curtained bed.
Inching forward, Bai Ling narrowed her eyes at the moving silhouettes on the bed.
The gauze curtain obscured her view greatly, but if she was required to make a wild guess, she would say that it was a fight.
"Wei Wei...?"
In the end, Bai Ling put the tray aside and ripped the curtain open impatiently.
Her betrothed, Qiao Wei, was tucked properly under the quilt on the bed. His face was ashen with a hint of annoyance.
An unwelcome guest, Zhang Fengxi, let out a small groan somewhere on the floor right next to the bed. He awkwardly rose to his feet and patted dust off his robe.
"Good morning, Miss Bai."
Bai Ling’s jaw dropped open in shock.
"Were you two sleeping together?" She asked incredulously.
"No!" Qiao Wei cried out.
"Yes," Zhang Fengxi calmly replied.
Qiao Wei turned his head in Zhang Fengxi’s direction and shot him a murderous glare.
Zhang Fengxi merely shot Bai Ling a snicker.
"I arrived late at night to see how Qiao Wei’s doing. There is no other place to sleep in, so I ended up inconveniencing him and sleeping on his bed."
Zhang Fengxi’s explanation was both plausible and implausible at the same time.
Bai Ling fought the urge to throw Zhang Fengxi out of Mount Wu, keeping in mind her father’s words about recruiting said potential cultivator to join their sect.
She shifted her gaze to Qiao Wei, who was dressed immaculately in his night robe and then to Zhang Fengxi, whose attire seemed to hold a faint echo of the journey across several mountains and lakes.
Otherwise, there were no telltale creases on their silk robes, no whispers of intimacy clinging to the air.
These two men most likely only slept next to each other on the same bed.
Bai Ling forced herself to smile.
Right.
Qiao Wei was not one of those... unusual men she once heard of. He liked women.
Most importantly, Qiao Wei liked her.
No matter what kind of eccentric taste Zhang Fengxi, this oddball, might have, Qiao Wei would refuse his advances without fail.
She was foolish to assume otherwise.
The positive thoughts put an optimistic smile on Bai Ling’s face.
"Sir Zhang helped our Wushan Temple Sect win the Spiritual Mountain Competition. Too bad you could not join our celebratory feast yesterday. Why don’t you join us for breakfast? I will ask the kitchen to prepare a delicious spread."
She merely hoped that Zhang Fengxi understood the hidden message -- eat, and then scram!
Zhang Fengxi grinned at her.
"Of course. Miss Bai, please excuse me. I need to change into a clean set of clothes."
Bai Ling returned his grin with one of hers.
"I will bring you something to wear."
"Not necessary. I will borrow Qiao Wei’s clothes."
His audacious words drove Bai Ling’s blood pressure high.
"You are an important guest of our sect," she said through gritted teeth. "How can you wear Wei Wei’s old clothes? Let me buy you a new set. Money is not a problem."
"I am not an emperor. No need to trouble Miss Bai that much. I am fine with wearing Qiao Wei’s old clothes."
Zhang Fengxi and Bai Ling shot scorching glares at each other, hot enough to roast a wild pheasant for breakfast.
"Little Ling, I need to talk to Zhang Fengxi for a while," Qiao Wei said, prompting both parties to glare at him instead.
"Can you please grant us some privacy?"
Bai Ling did not go away obediently. Huffing and puffing, she stomped away angrily.
Zhang Fengxi scoffed at her retreating figure.
"Look at her. What an annoying brat. If I were you, I would get rid of her."
Qiao Wei pinned Zhang Fengxi with a cold stare.
"Fengxi, we should stop seeing each other."
