Chapter 397: Chapter 397 : An Unexpected Reunion (2)

"Jianbao," Zhang Fengxi murmured, his voice thick with emotion. He slipped onto the bed, his arms engulfing both Xie Jianyu and their sons in a tight embrace.

"Jianbao..."

The alpha repeated, his lips seeking solace against his wife’s shoulder, his forehead resting against his cheek. Tears mingled, a silent symphony of relief and joy washing over them. Who cried more, he or Xie Jianyu, was a question lost in the warmth of their reunion.

Or maybe it was the boys, who were being suffocated by their parents’ loving embrace.

Following the sudden, unexpected attack on Fuxi Palace that day, several guards had to pay with their lives.

Head Servant Zhou was injured from a demon attack. Mingyu and Qingyun escaped with minor scratches when they ran around looking for the twins.

Despite the tragedy, the entire palace rejoiced upon Xie Jianyu’s unexpected awakening.

"Master," Qingyun prostrated herself before Xie Jianyu, tears flooding her face.

"Master, please accept me back," she begged, never mind that she had been back for five whole years after she left.

"You..."

Xie Jianyu rubbed at his aching temple.

There were too many faces and too many names that flooded his mind that he could not remember every person upon seeing them again.

Zhang Fengxi pressed a gentle kiss against Xie Jianyu’s temple.

"Baby, this is Qingyun. She served you along with Mingyu."

"Ah... Yes."

Xie Jianyu furrowed his brows.

"I am sorry," he said. "I remember a few things about you, but not all."

"It’s okay!" Qingyun quickly said. "Master, please do not force yourself!"

Meanwhile, Mingyu hurried over with a cup of Xie Jianyu’s favorite tea.

"Master, you must be thirsty. This is your favorite tea. We always keep a jar ready at all times, just in case Master returns... Wahhhh, you really returned!"

Zhang Fengxi took the tea from Mingyu before she spilled her tears into the cup.

One by one, the Fuxi Palace inhabitants paid their respect to their master. Zhang Fengxi had to wait patiently for everyone to leave before he was alone with Xie Jianyu and their little boys.

Exhausted from the ordeal, Zhang Mingrui and Xie Junjie nestled into Xie Jianyu’s embrace, their sleep a fragile balm against the echoes of the battle. Even in slumber, their tiny hands clung to their mother’s robe, refusing to let go.

"Baby?"

Xie Jianyu raised his eyes and locked gazes with Zhang Fengxi.

The alpha took his hand and showered his knuckles with reverent kisses.

"Baby, how are you feeling?"

"Mm..."

A crease appeared between Xie Jianyu’s brows.

"I feel lost," the omega admitted.

"What do you remember last?" Zhang Fengxi shifted his legs around Xie Jianyu, so that he could cradle his wife without waking their boys up.

"I... I remember giving birth. And then I fell asleep."

"That’s all?"

"Yes. I am sorry."

"Oh, baby. There is nothing you need to be sorry about."

Zhang Fengxi gently extricated the twin boys away from his wife. They voiced their protests in the form of muffled mumbles, but sleep quickly reclaimed them and dragged them back into the dream world.

"Mingyu, Qingyun," Zhang Fengxi called out in a soft voice afterward.

"Yes, Your Highness?" The maids quickly responded from the adjacent chamber.

"Take my boys to their bed chambers."

The alpha then lifted Xie Jianyu into his arms. Five years of sleeping had left Xie Jianyu malnourished. He had always been slender, but right now he was so thin.

Zhang Fengxi’s heart ached at the realization.

"Jianbao, why don’t I help you remember?" He asked his wife.

Xie Jianyu draped an arm around Zhang Fengxi and smiled.

"I would be grateful for your help."

The couple retreated to their bed chamber, leaving the red-faced maids and the sleeping boys behind.

Memories were etched not only on the soul but also on the body.

Xie Jianyu’s body kept all the memories from when he was alive, starting from birth to death. His soul, on the other side, retained the memories of the 125 reincarnations, which remained intact because he did not drink Granny Meng’s Forgetfulness Soup.

And then there were also the memories he collected when he was living in the Human Realm as Qiao Wei.

The Zhang Fengxi he knew as Xie Jianyu and the Zhang Fengxi he knew as Qiao Wei were two different people. The fact that they were one and the same person was hardly inconceivable.

Zhang Fengxi took off his and Xie Jianyu’s outer robe, letting them fall off their shoulders like fallen leaves during the autumn season.

When he reached out to remove Xie Jianyu’s inner layer, the latter gently stopped him.

"Fengxi, wait."

"What’s wrong?" Zhang Fengxi asked, his magnetic voice stirring a deep pool of emotions inside Xie Jianyu’s heart.

Xie Jianyu’s face turned slightly red. He averted his gaze and pushed at Zhang Fengxi’s chest.

"We should not."

"And why not?"

"Because..."

Zhang Fengxi tugged at the sash that held Xie Jianyu’s inner robe together.

"It has been so long," he said, his voice husky from unvented desire. "Only one time, Jianbao. I promise to be gentle."

Xie Jianyu rubbed at his reddened face.

He had just returned.

He did not expect to engage in frivolous activities on the first day.

On the other hand, it would be a lie to say that he did not miss having Zhang Fengxi’s warmth engulfing his body, and making love with his husband day and night.

"Just one time," he whispered.

"One time," Zhang Fengxi promised.

The shadows danced as the alpha shed his inner robe, revealing the sculpted lines of his form.

Five years honed Zhang Fengxi’s form, etching its own narrative onto his skin. His silhouette, leaner yet marked with newfound definition, bore the whispers of wars, missions, and trials overcome. Each scar, big or small, was a silent inscription, a testament to battles fought against beasts, monsters, and shadows alike.

Soon, the pants too came off.

Xie Jianyu’s eyes wandered downward, to the stiff organ between Zhang Fengxi’s legs. The purple veins that surrounded the mighty stem throbbed violently. It stood at attention, pointing at Xie Jianyu with a lot of expectations.

The Crown Prince swallowed hard at the terrifying sight.

It was just one time, he told himself over and over as Zhang Fengxi pushed Xie Jianyu on his back, tugged his sash free, and peeled his inner robe open.
