Chapter 361: Chapter 361 : Adventure In The Human Realm (1)
Tossed at the edge of the clouds.
Xie Junjie tightened his grip around Lei Zhen’s neck.
In other words, the jianzi fell into the Human Realm.
Xie Junjie climbed off his spiritual dragon and squatted close to the edge of the clouds, pondering about the best course of action.
His twin brother soon caught up with him.
"Junjie! We really should go back now. I... I saw Grandmother. She was bullying several guards at the pavilion."
Xie Junjie shot his brother a look.
"Mingrui, can you wait here for me? I am going to the Human Realm to fetch the jianzi."
Zhang Mingrui’s jaw fell in amazement.
"Junjie, you cannot!" He cried out. "Grandmother will scream at us! Father will lock us at Fuxi Palace for a month at least! Imperial Uncle is going to put us into the dungeons with other criminals!"
"I will be back as soon as possible," the little dragon promised him.
"Look, the jianzi fell down there. I just need to dip low to the ground, pick it up, and return to the Heavenly Realm. With Lei Zhen, it will just take a second!"
"No, no, no, Junjie, you cannot."
Zhang Mingrui moved to drag Xie Junjie away from the edges, but Xie Junjie swiftly dodged the former and climbed on Lei Zhen’s back instead.
"Wait for me, Mingrui," he said obstinately. "I will come back with the jianzi."
Without further ado, he tugged at Lei Zhen’s neck. The black dragon snorted before it jumped off the cloud with his little master on his back.
"JUNJIEEEEEE...!!!"
Xie Junjie clung desperately to Lei Zhen, fear gripping his heart like a vice. The harsh wind shrieked like a tormented beast, biting at his exposed skin and numbing his senses.
The little boy didn’t dare open his eyes, the thought of the dizzying heights and the vast, unknown expanse below filling him with a sickening dread. He could only bury his face deeper into Lei Zhen’s neck, seeking comfort in the dragon’s warmth and strength amidst the terrifying journey to the Human Realm.
Thankfully, Lei Zhen was a seasoned flyer, his instincts kicking in as they plummeted towards the ground. With a powerful surge of his wings, he pulled out of the dive just moments before impact, landing gracefully on all fours.
His young master, however, was not yet accustomed to such dramatic maneuvers. With legs like jelly and hands shaking uncontrollably, Xie Junjie tumbled downwards, losing his grip and falling from Lei Zhen’s back.
Xie Junjie rolled onto a patch of emerald grass, the coolness of the damp soil soothing his skin. Still shaken from the ordeal, he lay motionless, his breaths coming in shallow gasps.
Seeing the little boy motionless on the ground, the black dragon started to get nervous.
It nudged Xie Junjie with its snout repeatedly, as if telling him to wake up.
"Junjie! OH GODS, JUNJIE!"
Judging from his voice, Zhang Mingrui followed after him and had a much better landing experience with Xiao Xiao.
Xie Junjie opened his eyes and groaned.
His head hurt so much.
When Zhang Mingrui knelt next to him and shook him, he felt even dizzier.
"Mingrui, don’t," Xie Junjie begged. "Don’t shake me too much..."
"Sorry! But gahhh, so THIS is the Human Realm. Look, we are stepping on earth! And there is so much grass! And trees!"
Once Xie Junjie overcame his lightheadedness, he too learned to appreciate the beautiful landscape that stretched before his eyes.
"Woahhh..."
A tapestry of emerald fields stretched out before them, punctuated by meandering ribbons of crystal-clear water that flowed like liquid silver. In the distance, a gentle waterfall tumbled over moss-covered rocks, its cascading melody filling the air with a soothing serenade.
The sun, a benevolent orb hanging low in the sky, dappled the landscape with shimmering light, casting dancing shadows amongst the lush foliage. The air, sweet with the fragrance of wildflowers and freshly cut grass, filled their lungs with each inhale, leaving them with replenished vigor and renewed spirit.
"I like the Human Realm," Zhang Mingrui said.
He sank onto the emerald carpet of grass beneath him, arms and legs sprawling out in joyous abandon. "It’s truly beautiful," he breathed, the words infused with a sense of wonder.
Xie Junjie collapsed beside his brother, his body instantly sinking into the welcoming embrace of the earth. Closing his eyes, he surrendered to the symphony of nature’s sounds.
The cheerful chirping of unseen birds filled the air, a melody woven together with the gentle murmur of the nearby water and the voices of human beings talking to each other.
Human beings!
Xie Junjie opened his eyes in utter shock.
"Mingrui, human beings!" He hissed as he shook at Zhang Mingrui’s arms. "We need to hide!"
"Hide? What? Where?"
Panic gripped Xie Junjie’s heart. He quickly dragged his twin brother to his feet.
"Wait, where did Lei Zhen and Xiao Xiao go off to?"
"Huh? What???"
Now Zhang Mingrui started to get panicked as well.
"Where did they gooo? Oh Gods, Grandmother and Daddy are going to..."
"There!!!"
Unbeknownst to the little masters, Lei Zhen and Xiao Xiao decided to go close to the river and take a few sips of the running crystal-clear water.
"Lei Zhen!"
"Xiao Xiao! Stop drinking, we need to hide...!!!"
The two spiritual beasts did not understand the urgency of the situation. Lei Zhen snapped at Xie Junjie unhappily and Xiao Xiao growled at Zhang Mingrui in displeasure.
Meanwhile, the voices of the human beings became louder and louder.
"I swear, I saw two big creatures fall from the sky," one of them spoke.
"Brother Gu, what creatures would fall from the sky? Maybe a lizard fell on your face when you were sleeping."
"You... I tell you, you won’t believe me unless you see it with your own eyes."
Xie Junjie gritted his teeth. He grabbed Zhang Mingrui’s sleeve and said in a low voice, "Mingrui, go hide with Lei Zhen and Xiao Xiao. I will distract them."
Zhang Mingrui shook his head repeatedly.
"I am not leaving you behind!" He declared.
"You are not leaving me behind. We will meet up as soon as I finish misleading them. Go! Go now!" Xie Junjie did not give his brother time to think before he bolted toward the approaching human beings.
